- In this episode, we check out the new PRS SE DGT David Grissom Signature guitar. The PRS SE DGT (David Grissom Trem) brings David Grissom’s signature model to the SE Series for the first time. Based on the McCarty platform, the DGT model has been a constant favorite since its introduction in 2007, thanks to Grissom’s deep knowledge of vintage guitars and his painstaking attention to detail. Every feature on the SE DGT has been considered from the neck shape to the fret choice and dressing, from the colors to the pickups and electronics layout.

That little fuzz experiment sounded Awesome !!
Agreed, one of our favorites from the night.
Why do they always get guys who barely can play to demo these guitars??? I do have 2 PRS guitars, the DGT SE Goldtop and the Brent Mason Model (Given to me from my good friend Brent Mason!) and am a professional working musician and would GLADLY show them how to really demo guitars especially the DGT SE!! It is such a versatile instrument for Rock, Country, Jazz and basically any genre of music!! The front knob controls the bridge pickup while the middle controls the neck pickup and the third is the tone/ pickup split control!!! The pickups are live and sensitive and harmonics are all over the neck and easy tp get on BOTH pickups!! I don't mean to put the demonstrator down but since I worked for several guitar stores, you have to demo the guitar so that the potential buyer is standing in the saliva he or she drooled waiting to try out the instrument!! It IS a wonderful Rockin' guitar!!! I just feel that when you demo an instrument it's got to be EXCITING to the potential buyer and the price of the DGT SE is unbelievable at around $900, $3000 less than the DGT and they sound so close it will blow your mind!!! Maybe one day I will get a call to demo out some axes because I want to be blown away when I hear a new guitar!! BTW the PRS DGT SE is the first guitar I ever bought without playing one and I've been playing guitar around 56 years!!!
Tell me you don't understand the point of this channel without telling me you don't understand the point of this channel... Keep on keeping on man... I am sure the phone will ring any day!
Both pickups sounds great! PRS is making it very tough for other guitar brands under $1000, if only they had a T-style too!
A t-style might break the internet! People almost lost their minds over the SS in the beginning. Although, there is an artist out there playing a T-style PRS, but I forget who it is.

@@joaguilar7 Thanks, that's it.
Awesome video. PRS hit the nail on the head with this. The great dilema is which color, gold or burst…🤔
That choice was not an issue for me at all lol thanks!
+1 forGold 😂
Ordered a gold one today…
Might get it in 5 months, lol
Hope I can easily set up the trem to pull up a half step…
Have had mine for a few days and I love it. Still new guitar honeymoon but it I think it’s excellent.
They did a great job on this one! Packing it up now to play it this morning.
I got the McCarty and I fell in love with it the moment I touched the neck. I haven't put it down in two weeks and feel bad as my other guitars watch me not play them.
@@itsalwayssomething7490 - it was a difficult decision between the two. I may yet revisit the 594 (did you mean the SE McCarty 594) at a later date. I mean, there are worse things than having both right? Having said that the standard hollowbody piezo will be getting some serious looks from me too when it’s available near me. I don’t have a hollowbody or semi-hollow so it’s doing something different and the piezo makes it more versatile. PRS have really peaked my interest with this latest lot of releases.
Edit - and I’m in a similar situation as nothing else is getting played right now except the DGT SE.
Alot of times the SE pickups are kinda blah, not the case on this one. PRS leaves plenty of wire in the cavity if you want to swap the volumes . Love the jams at the end think gives a better idea of what the guitar sounds like.
Thanks, Brad. Might have to pop it open and take a look in the future.

Great review and playing! Do you know what type of nut this model has? Would it benefit from the USA self-lubricating PRS nut or does this already have it intalled? Thanks.
I’m not sure what material it is but I think David Grissom said something about really liking it during his 5 Watt interview. He may have said his core could benefit from it as it does a great job keeping the tremolo in tune. Or at least something along those lines. Thanks!
@@PJandtheBeard Thanks for the information.
Great video. I think PRS could have done better with a handful of color finishes. Then there is the issue of the volume knobs. I am curious why they didn't position the order of the volume knobs relative to the pickups; bridge p/u, neck volume knob. The order doesn't make sense.
It makes sense when you hear David Grissom say he plays on the bridge 90% of the time. I find it’s the magic pickup in this guitar and I use it more than the bridge as well, which is not normal for me. I was going to swap the pots as someone said prs left enough cable to do that, but I think I’ll keep it that way for now. Thanks!
You guys are Goose fans too? 👍
I’m definitely late to the party. Discovered Goose a few weeks ago when one their rig rundowns popped up in my feed. Then the show with Trey sitting in popped up. I’ve been watching their concerts daily ever since. Good stuff! I was wondering if anyone would catch that. I need to sit down a get the timing down though. lol What’s your favorite jam? -Beard
@@PJandtheBeard Factory Fiction is my favorite. Saw them live w. Trey in DC area last fall, looking forward to seeing them in their own show.
