  • How cool was paintwork at the turn of the century? This was a real treat to have in the workshop this week. Shaun came to us a few weeks back and asked us to give this Klein Attitude the once over. Seeing what a wonderful bike it was we asked if we could feature in on the channel for you all to see. So we stripped it down, sourced a few new parts for it and here we are putting it back together, a Joe's Bikes classic build.

    Klein had some of the most unbelievable paint schemes of the 90's. I can remember one in my LBS about '97. It was thunderstorms with clouds and lightning. Just awesome!

    You are very nostalgic lately. Some components will be those who have not seen them in their lives, a good initiative, so that the new generations know where we come from. A greeting.

      Yes we have been quite retro lately, we have always wanted to include this old stuff and I'm glad you like what we have done. It is very easy with all the new tech to forget where we came from, the new flashy bikes are fantastic but we love old stuff too. We have always wanted our channel to document the complete bike history and are planning some old road stuff too. I hope you keep watching and thank you for your comments, cheers Joe.

    I am digging the 90’s Klein vibe on your channel. So I have a 97 Orange and Black Mantra Race that I owned since new. I have upgraded it with some period jewelry. A Fox Float 100 RLC, CrossMax SL tubeless wheels, Afterburner 386 9spd 27/40t cranks mated to SRAM XO Twist Shift & RD, XT FD, XTR 11-34 9spd cassette, triple Ti eggbeaters, FSA K-force carbon 40mm risers with 110x10 Bontrager lite stem, Karma DTC 2.0 tires, Avid Ultimate levers with the Ti V-brakes and all Ti hardware. WTB pure V saddle. 0:45 OEM Thomson seatpost and Fox ALPS-5 shock. 23.5 lbs. Its enjoyment factor is greatly enhanced from the OEM components. 27 years of loving care has gone into her. ❤

    I had an Attitude comp in the 90s in a beautiful dark green/dark blue flip. I pimped everything on it to XTR and hope hubs with mini hydraulics on Mavic rims. Was a beautiful and stiff bike that I spent thousands on and rode everywhere. Great to see another one in such great condition. Good job, fella👍🏼

    I have practically the same bike. Klein Attitude Race - In the same colour.. Had it since 1998. It's in remarkable condition (albeit not as perfect as this example). I overhauled a lot of the components a few years back, had the forks fully serviced (Rockshox Duke), new cables, cassette, chain brakes and so on. I changed the bars to X-lite riser bars as I was getting some neck/shoulder pain due to position, however I have since got into road cycling and got used to a more aggressive riding position anyway. Perhaps I'll put the Bontager stem and straight bars back on it. What do you think? Great video! Subbed.

    • @JoesBikesUK
      @JoesBikesUK  Před rokem

      Hi David, a very good point. Maybe they are only bikes to be used for show or wall hangers! But it is something we are going to be doing soon. In our case we wanted to get our channel established a bit more and I saw this as a part two or even three for each bike. I did a Mountain Cycle San Andreas and we have just got the correct forks for it so we will do that as a part two, the original fors were not really worth spending too much time or money on as they were not staying on the bike. The Klein was a bike we had in for a customer for a renovation / service and the fork work was not something he wanted us to touch. (they do work really well though so saw his point) We still have the Klein in our shop for sale, I have had offers on it but he has declined them, #watchthisspace I hope this answers your question and look forward to hearing more from you. Thanks also for watching, cheers Joe.

    Everything is getting reproduced and updated. How about reproducing KLEIN bikes? I would totally buy one of they made a modern version in the same banger paint jobs. No bikes EVER looked at nice a KLEIN of the 90's and that really says ALOT!!!

    • @JoesBikesUK
      @JoesBikesUK  Před rokem

      Hi Ganda, You might be able to get a 30mm Bottom Bracket to fit but the question would be that it might make the chain line too wide for it to be usable. Not sure without trying it but 30mm is usually for boost chainline which is wider at the crank and the rear wheel. I hope this helps, cheers Joe.
