Thank you for showing Heswall Station.
I recall as a very young child buying a ticket in the ticket office travelling from Heswall Station, with my grandmother who lived nearby in Seabank Road, to visit my great grandmother in West Kirby. It was by steam train then of course and I remember years later visiting the sidings after they stopped being used for freight and could wander all over the lines and look in the sidings buildings.

Having left Heswall in 71 and returning after 51 years, my son and I caught a train form Heswall to Hamo square. Bear in mind 51 yrs is a long time, we were the last out off the platform and I had forgotten about the lifts? As we started climbing the stairs it wasn't until about the 8th floor I realised all was not how it used to be and made a decision to go back down as we'd lost the will to live by the 7th floor, how I'd forgotten about the lifts remains a mystery. I bet someone watching on cctv had a right laugh at us!

Thank you 👍 An 'eye-opener' 😮 An abutment still in that cul-de-sac corner? And a Connell and Finegan crane doing some demolition work under the old bridge....

Really have enjoyed this I live in Irby every spring through summer I go for a walk to heswall and go round there then walk along the Wirral way. You’ve helped me know now there the bridge was one thing I would like to know is from the bridge on river bank close did the track bend left and go along what is today Davenport road or did it go in a straight line to the Wirral way going west kirby way through where the houses are on Davenport road. Look forward to more about it.

Hi. basically went in a straight line. So the houses on Davenport Road now sit on what was the track bed. We also have a video which is a simulation of the line when it was a branch line. czcams.com/video/ukb_hpyF71M/video.html

Remember Heswall in the 60s, don't remember any other trains there only Liverpool - West Kirby

Thanks for watching. Closed to Passengers in 1956 and closed to freight in 62. Track bed now makes up the Wirral Way

Ken and bred in heswall, and I’ve never once been to the modern station. It’s shocking how bad the transport infrastructure is there. Going to Liverpool should be a 15 minute train. Useless!
