- So, a run of the mill visit to Fourth Banks Police Station - Northumbria Police, turned out to be a bit more surprising! I didnt get as much drone footage as i'd liked as the seagulls are the size of pterodactyls and they were dive bombing like Stuka's! Anyway, I met a new detective anonymous who was aghast at me asking for his name even though it is policy. Then met SGT Blagger, he definitely thinks he got 1 over on me but i'm absolutely certain he was ill informed. Anyway, let me know what you think. My guess is he Googled "caa flying over police stations" and found the skykam site which says you need to get permission. Reading on, it actually cites the relevant legislation and adds "This gives the police the authority to take action in cases where they believe that a drone is being used in connection with an offence." More a case of the kid skim reading and presuming police have powers to prevent flying.

That first guy, the detective, really struggled and was not even confident enough to identify. These cops seem to have very little to do. Cops tend to be very intellectually short and need this much help from people constantly.

That first "Detective" behind the gate in the blue shirt, I'm sure he was in another video, where a guy was filming a Covid Test Centre in Newcastle, and was acosted by security. And this Detective, (I use the term loosely) went on to berate the guy with the camera, actually telling him to mind his own business. But the Detective refused to school the CovSec on the rights of individuals filming from public spaces.
It was one of ReggiePhoto's videos if I recall correctly.

Drone assist APP is what you needed to pull out on your phone!!!!! That will tell you instantly if you can or cannot fly over wherever you are.
Hands in his pockets, didn’t inform the data subject at the earliest practicable point that he was recording him, so scrawny copper doesn’t read up on policies and needs to reference his sources more clearly rather than expect the public to take his word for it we know what they are like, they can’t be trusted.

As a pilot you must carryout a risk assessment as long as you can tell police your covered by caa and you have done a risk assessment then plod carnt say jack

Be confident before you go anywhere, and when they tell you you can't that is when you stop talking and do it, only stop when the detain or arrest you. Then you will hit the jackpot and have them in da bin bag.
Relivent authority is the CAA not pol because it is airspace.
You have a sub m8 I fly the mini 4 pro in the north East and those cops are clueless you can fly a sub 250g drone anywhere except airports, prisons, MOD, and large crowds anywhere else is fair game even police stations unless there is a no fly zone

Im a big fan of the concept of auditing public funded services but im not keen on the face coverings. Most people would be suspicious of somebody hanging around filming in a face covering. Face coverings are historically associated with crime in the UK and i have no problem with the Police being suspicious when they see somebody loitering with their face hidden.

Under the first clip of the two baldies I adviced you to put a piece of black tape over a few numbers of your operators ID on the drone. One of them recorded that number and did a search and that is why they called you by name in this clip. In the police database there will now probably will be a file with your name and the first encounter with the baldies. I am pretty sure they added this encounter too. You have to be careful out there LCR!

The only thing you need to look at is an aviation chart, or your version of it. If the restriction is not on the map or the NOTAMs then there is no restriction.
