    I originally used this product on my brand new dark blue sedan and my wife's three-year-old dark blue SUV back in mid-February, in both cases applying a second coat after waiting 24 hours. I clayed, polished (TW Hybrid Solutions Polish), and prepped the SUV with an IPA prior to application, but did nothing to prep my sedan other than washing and using an IPA to clean the panels. It has now been almost seven months and both vehicles are holding up extremely well. The gloss is still extremely good on both cars and water beads and sheets like crazy when it rains and during washing. I admittedly use a drying aid when washing both vehicles, (TW Hybrid Wet Wax in the case of the sedan and P&S Bead Maker in the case of the SUV), but I am beginning to wish that the protection would fail so I can try something else. My impression of this has been that it is extremely easy to use and it performs as advertised.

    Having ordered this product from Amazon only to find no english instructions I turned to CZcams and happened upon your video which helped greatly. I washed my canvasite blue Merc and my wife's silver grey Volvo V40 with Turtle's ceramic wash product. I then dried the cars and applied the ceramic coating both by direct spraying and wiping on as per your method. It's winter here in north Essex, UK and 10.5c. All I can tell you at this point is both application methods worked and a streak free result was obtained. My purpose in all of this is to get 1 winter's worth of cars staying cleaner when our roads are mucky and awful. We'll see...

    I have a 2024 Mazda CX-50 in dark gray metallic (Mazda refers to it as machine gray metallic). After washing and drying, I applied the first coat of TW Hybrid solutions first by spraying directly onto vehicle and then onto a microfiber cloth. I decided not to wait 24 hours and applied the second coat about 2-3 hours later. So far so good. Leaves a really nice finish that really shines in the hot Texas sunlight. Didn't notice any streaking despite the dark color.

    I've used this on 2 new cars now--Acura MDX and Ford Expedition, both metallic silver. Great results on both--slippery smooth and water beads like crazy, but not sure how long they last yet (it's only been a few months on the Acura, and just today on the Expedition). I put two coats on, waiting 24 hours between each, then letting the last coat "cure" an additional 24 hours before exposing to elements--everything done in a garage. One thing I noticed is that the quality of the paint definitely affects results on application. The Acura has thick smooth paint with little orange peel, plus I clayed it before application. Putting the product on I had very few smears, and those that did happen came right out with a little extra rubbing. The depth of shine on that thing was incredible. The Expedition paint quality is not as good as the Acura, plus I did not clay it before putting the product on. Therefore the paint is not as slippery smooth as the Acura because of small imperfections--feels rougher. The depth of shine is not as good either, and smears were more of a problem (but still not really difficult to deal with). But still impressed, assuming it will last. I also bought the Turtle Wax companion product (Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Wet Wax), which you are supposed to spray on after washing while the car is still wet--spray on then dry with towel as you normally would. This is supposed to make the coating last indefinitely if you use it after each wash, but we'll see.

    I bought this as it was a stupid price on Amazon with the attraction of 12 months protection. I did both coats 24hrs apart on a 2017 Volvo V40 and a 2019 Toyota Yaris. I did the spray on the cloth technique which definitely helps with the over spray, I found it applied well but the buffing was hard work and quite a workout. Now it's been done (2nd coat now curing) it gives an amazing finish and quite honestly better than the Autoglym ceramic spray which has a shorter life and a higher price. I've put 2 coats on the diamond cut wheels so hoping it helps to keep the brake dust down. We will see how long it lasts but so far so good and pleased with the high gloss finish I've been left with.

    Dave, your glass cleaning method....wort y of legend! About the spray, I found working on black paint, I had to have a damp cloth to hand once I applied and buffed to go over it again to take out the smears that were left. once done the results were fine. I didn't like this product at first as I felt far too much effort was needed to apply 2 coats and as you say via the instructions allow 24 hours for it to cure before further application. On my silver Passat I went on well, however after the first couple of washed the hydrophobics went south really quickly (bearing in mind I had not applied any of Turtle wax hybrid solutions wet wax or the detailer) once applying the wet wax on the next wash, hydrophobics came back with no issue. Think another go will be in order, thanks for another great vid and tips.

    @kevtheargonut Před 3 lety +2

    Just got pointed to you from Paul Dolden - like the content and your style, well done fella. Subbed.
    The TW range has worked for me on 2 cars, wife’s selenite grey merc and a pearl red DS3. Merc was in very good nick, it lives with me so gets good, regular, careful maint washes and had a 2 stage DA Megs 105/205 minor correction the previous year and sat outside by the sea under NXT wax. Been a Megs guy for years but fancied a go at some weekend warrior ceramics you can use in the open, and TW reviewed well for that purpose at the start of this year, so went that route four the merc’s spring spritzer.
    This time, (hot April sunny weekend) it got a foam, wash, clay, TW ceramic one stage DA polish and then TW ceramic spray coated the next day - an unseasonable hot day. Result was fine but you had to be quick in the sun while spreading fairly lightly in a cross pattern and I used the damp towel before final buff too. If you try to rub too hard or buff the initial spray application, that is where the problems start imo. Just get it sprayed on, immediately spread it relatively lightly, give it 30 secs and use a damp towel to level it before the buff.
    Daughter’s DS3 was a bit of a shit box, not much maint washing done in 3 years of her ownership. Seemed softer paint than the merc, so roughly the same process, foam, wash, Tardis lower half, clay, single stage TW ceramic with localised 2 stage in problem areas, and all was good again in the hot sun on quite darkish pearl red. This time it was windy so I sprayed it it to the towel instead of to the car and it also worked fine.
    One thing I do like in their range is the ceramic wet wax. Super easy to use and maintains the hydrophobic properties, meaning that I probably don’t have to use the ceramic spray coating as often as I would.
    Just done my silver Freelander 2 this weekend which was in a right state from the previous owner. Used old school decon routine with lots of Tardis down low, a clay and started on a TW ceramic machine polish on the bonnet. It didn’t touch most of the defects, so will be going back to Megs 105/205 combo (or heavier if I have to) to get that right on very hard (seemingly even harder than the merc) paint when I have more time. Then it’ll probably get a TW ceramic spray over that, but for the moment it will have to sit under some old Megs NXT wax protection with its defects intact but looking okayish from 10 feet away.
    I see the TW range as a keen amateur’s product that gives good results IF you follow the instructions to the letter and recognise their limitations - especially the one stage polish, it is very mildly abrasive. Using the maint wash ceramic stuff seems to keep its hydrophobic properties going well. But that stuff isn’t cheap (unless you just buy 2 bottles for 22.50 with the 10 quid off 30 quid spent discount code they just reminded me I had)!
    TLDR, horses for courses but it meets what I expect of it.

    TW still suggests you apply in shade, but overcast or early morn, or near sundown works well too. I have found that in higher temperatures, besides shade, it helps to apply by spraying a slightly moist microfiber towel with the product, then levelling any stubborn buildup with the the clean side of the moist towel.

    I’ve just tried the Turtle Wax Ceramic range for the last couple of months and It’s pretty good but not blown me away. The all in one polish was excellent stuff. I found any streaks are easily sorted with a slightly damp microfibre which is common on a lot of these SiO2 sprays. I’ve recently tried a sample of Car-Chem Lockdown which is a similar spray sealant. I think it was slightly easier to use but a damp MF was still required at times for the odd streak. I have a few Garage Therapy bits on their way including Three so I’ll see how that compares. I’m planning on using that in a month or two to see me through the winter.

I have previously used meguiars hybrid ceramic spray wax and while the beading on that was amazing and Better than this turtle wax tbh. It still went on streaky. Doesn't add any shine, or enhance the look of the paintwork in any way. Just makes train water bread up on it.

    I admire the fact you took the time out to give the product another go by making another video with a different car. So couple of comments..firstly (and correct me if I'm wrong) but isnt the product you used a protective 'coating' more than it is a polish? And since TW also do a ceramic polish (which is also a cleaner), to my mind it makes sense you perhaps should use that first THEN apply the coating product? I think the way you have done it is you have tried to use a 'quik detailer' coating product as a type of 'all-in-one' which its not and I doubt theres any product out there which is. If I'm right it might explain why you got better results on this car than the one in the previous video, since one explanation is the paint on this car was already in better condition when you started than it was on the Range Rover?

    • @epicautomotivedetailing
      @epicautomotivedetailing  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello David, yeh your right it's a protective coat not a polish but the idea I wanted to point out that most people using it wouldn't of bothered clay barring or polishing first. People only read the bits they want to see. So the way it was marketed was like this (spray on wipe off for a perfect finish) but to get that finish u need to do all the steps before hand to paint. So that's why I was annoyed too because I wanted to get in that mindset of an average Joe. For me the reason this sucked was because of the weather. I truly believe that was the difference between the applications. Range was done on scorching hot day. Volvo was done on cool day so I think that's the reason it didn't quite go to plan. That and the fact I wasn't having a good day anyways lol

    • @DavidTron63
      @DavidTron63 Před 4 lety +1

      @@epicautomotivedetailing Yea I totally get it. TW I think have produced a great product with this ceramic range by all accounts but have done themselves a disservice in the way the coating product is marketed. In fairness though, its not dissimilar to what their competitors do. To my mind though watching your first video I didnt really expect an amazing result from a spray on wipe off product lol. Products such as this are for detailing after all the hard work is done. There's still no substitute for hard buffing with a good polish/cleaner (and a clay bar first if required). I've just ordered their polish and coating (even though my cars only 5 years old and the paint is in great condition) and I expect a great result used in that order. I suspect you using that coating protectant on an average paint and in the sun just resulted in the product working its way into the degraded paint instead of sitting on the surface. From there it sounds like it became impossible to get out with the resultant average finish.

    Hi, Thanks for these Epic, genuine and humorous videos.
    I bought a car 2 months ago (Turquoise colour). I live in the Philippines where there is no cool day and I need to wash the car at sunset to avoid direct sunlight (+35C). I use deep-well water (lots of mineral deposits) with a pressure wash, shampoo and rinse. I don't know how to decontaminate etc. to prep the paint, ideally, I would prefer to skip this.
    I'm looking for 2-3 products (max) to clean, protect and shine my car. I don't mind spending 30-60 minutes to apply a product if it's less than every 2-3 months and would have quicker washes every 2 weeks or so. If a product can limit the water spots from the brackish water, it would actually save me a lot of time. What product would you recommend? (Turtle Wax lines are available and decently priced).
    In my situation, would you choose the TW Ceramic & Graphene paste Wax, the ceramic coating spray or the graphene? (or something else?)
    PS: If it makes a clear difference, I may consider an extra product to clean the interior and the tyres.

    You definitely had an easier time on the lighter silver paint, but that's not something unique to this product. Heat also definitely a factor. I struggled with an application on my car which was inside a garage in the shade, but very high ambient temperatures and I was not prepared for just how quickly the product was going to cure. In hindsight I needed a different day, or certainly less product and working in smaller areas at a time, even dividing single panels up in those conditions. Lastly I think the GT three application technique is a great tip for any of the spray sealant products, especially starting with application via a pad or cloth as you also found. You can see why TW mindful of the mainstream consumer would have not thought need for 3, possibly 4 cloths to apply a great selling point. It seems the longer the longevity claims, the trickier the product to work with and more care required. Seems reasonable really. For the stress free and easiest experience, just use a hybrid qd and apply every 3rd wash, or as often as you like. Take your pick!

    so I just got this stuff, was going to clean my car and then clay bar it. but can I wait till the next day to spray this?

    Every review says it is easy to apply, and today I bought and try. As you said it is not easy to apply. Once it starts dry it is impossible to buff perfectly. The solution I find is, apply with applicator, buff with a microfiber and second buff with another microfiber immediately very fast. Othervise oily paint and I could not fix with buffing.
    Even Fusso coat is easier to apply than this product.

      that could just be very unlucky if its windy whilst applying. Once its cured it shouldnt do that at all

    If it rains before the 24 hour curing period will it ruin the coating? Will I need to re apply it?

    I have tried several of these spray-on "ceramics" and they ALL leave nasty annoying rainbow streaks all over, no matter what temp. I wish you'd done this on a dark car like you did the first time, but on this cooler day. I hate buying $15 magic spray-on and getting disappointed, again, and also spending half an hour trying to clean up all the streaks.

      No worries I'm doing one promise. I'm waiting for temperature to drop a tad more to see how it works in the cold. If you want quick and easy try cartec fast glaze it's pretty incredible

      @@epicautomotivedetailing Awesome, thank you! I have a dark blue car and man the streaks, spots, and "oil sheens" are tough on it as you're aware. I think I'm going to give this a try soon, my last wax was in March so it's about due. Hopefully it applies on top of a wax okay. I'll start somewhere other then the hood. :)

      It's hit and miss mate. So I had a look at the Volvo this morning and tried a water test with one coat and loved it so the biggest flaw is the application process. Unless you get it right in good temperature it does cause problems. I've never known a product to be so random but this time it was easy to apply 👌

      @@daveroberts703 yeh GT is great. I'm still going to use turtlewax up eventually as I think more testing is needed but it did alright on this occasion
