    These 4 min have done more for the Superman character than most ever could.
    - vulnerability; couldn’t save his father despite his power
    - heroism; saves a kid while gently placing car down
    - humbleness; here you go friend
    - relatability; my mom made it for me
    - love; Lois is sarcastic, but never near annoying & even helpful towards a new guy. Not to mention there’s actual chemistry other than the sexual kind. Looking at DCEU.

      One of the main issues I have with a lot of modern Superman content is some writers/directors try so hard to make Superman realistic or make his appearance cooler (I want those trunks back damn it!!) or make Superman seem edgier. But that scene in his classic suit was spot on. Cheerful, friendly, down to Earth despite being an Alien, and honestly the "My Mom made it for me" represents all of that. It makes the most powerful hero on the planet seem so relatable and human that you forget he is an alien, and the fact he is so happy when someone compliments his mother's handiwork just says it all. In his first appearance, he instantly gives off a vibe that this is a man you can trust and rely on, that there really isn't a bad bone in his body. This is Superman, plus I really hope to see the retro suit again in some more flashbacks, it looks great!!

    Superman to me represents the 1980s a more hopeful, optimistic, and dreamlike time period that's still the greatest decade in human history! Characters like Manchester Black, The Boys, The Authority, and other edgy cynical characters represents the more darker, nihilistic, and depressing 1990s and 2000s. I hope someday the optimism and hope that was so strong back in the 1980s returns. :) Dream save us.

    • @SuntoryKick
      @SuntoryKick Před rokem

      The 80's really did seem to be the last time society had an innocence and optimism to it. Not to say there weren't bad times and truly dark things happening but there was a sort of obliviousness. The 90's represented a shift but still had a degree of it innocence at the same. It was a more cynical decade but almost in the way that a teenager is. Then the decades since then are where it feels like innocence and optimism has largely gone. Superman's popularity has declined in sync with how those decades lost innocence. Just have to hope that one day things will change.

      HOWEVER I big recommend the DC animated universe if you haven't gotten the chance to see it. From justice league War forward, in my opinion they were really well put together. But one of my favorite out of comic portrayal of superman to date is from All Star Superman. It showed the same huge heart of you get to see when he dies to Doomsday. But you get to see him demonstrate the rest of his great qualities over time instead of in a single battle
