This bike is a seriously good piece of kit. It has the K5 engine not the K8 and is far more capable than any of its Japanese counterparts. Its basically a more comfy GSXR. I have both a GSXR and one of these. I dont know what your on about with the gearing mine is smooth up and down the box and they handle like a dream. I can chuck mine around the same as my GSXR it uses the same frame and swing arm as the new models. I dint know why your comparing it to a FZ09 its a completely different animal its a litre bike
serioisly, prioritise FPS over stupidly high def. around 0.1% of your viewers will be able to use the 2k/4k. everyone can benefit from 60fps

+JackSwatman Yup 60fps all the way. My internet and PC can more than handle 4k but it isnt at all worth it when given 60fps as an option.

Gotta agree with other comments. After getting used to 60fps, watching a ride in 30fps just doesn't live up. I stay pretty up to date with my tech and even I don't watch stuff in 4k. QuadHD (1440p) is the max I watch stuff in, but 1080p gets the job done.
I love the new accompanying blog post style though! Super clean. Like the addition of the pics and the exhaust clip! Well done bro.

+Motonosity Yea, I agree with you. 4k is definitely not necessary. I'll go into it in a vlog, but the reason this is in 4k has little to do with the quality of the final video. More to do with my mixed camera setup and wanting consistency in frame rates (blah blah blah more camera crap)

I own the 2016 GSX-S1000F version. You lost me with the "good for around town bike" comment.... It's a liter bike!!! One of the best and underrated standard sport bikes on the market.
My GSXS shifting has been butter since day one. SMOOOOTH! The throttle cable does need the slack adjusted out on a lot of these bikes.
Great bike, reviewed it myself last year and loved it!
cant believe this video is from back in the day-ish, i actually looked at these kind of bikes when i was looking for a second bike to upgrade to. Ended up getting a 2014 Yamaha Stryker and now am moving to "sport" kind of motorcycles for more fun and handling, this GSXS 1000F provides the upright seating position and "sporty" character. Just need to pony up the dollars and get through winter :D
+chaseon2wheels Good review, bud. I've been rippin around on my 2016 GSX-S1000F for a year now and loving it. Actually the biggest power hit is throttling up past 6,000 rpms. The front end lifts in both 1st and 2nd gear. The bottom end is torquey also but 6k rpm is HANG ON suckers! Also, you can adjust the traction control at any speed below 30mph. You don't have to make a complete stop. YES, be careful...the rear end has stepped out on me under heavy throttle many times. Once at over 50mph and in a slight lean while passing a car when I snapped the throttle and clutch at the same time. Very scary tank slapper at high speed. The seat does hold your butt well but after 45 minutes your A$$ will hurt (heard the same from others also). Stock exhaust note is awesome as you mentioned. This bike does corner super good, solid and nimble. Clutch and shifting is buttery smooth. I agree, rear brake is weak. And you can't turn off the ABS which sucks. I'm not a fan and it slows down my ability to stop under heavy breaking. Scary. Just my input after 25,000 miles of hammering canyons, tracks and freeways. MOTO PILOT out.
geez the comment on " do not get these bikes when you are new to riding " makes me want to throw up. let people buy what they want , i've been riding since 1990 , started at 18 years old on a suzuki RG500 ,what a bike the 2 strokes.. then moved on to 1100 GSXR 89 90 92 ? 1000 tomcat etcc ... they dont make em anymore.. and here i am in 2021 still riding one of my gsxr 1100, btw still have my 500RG sweet old girl.. it's all about how you turn the throttle guys. ofc if you are gonna ride ON/OFF mode oh well it's up to you. now i can consider these days it can be more dangerous not because of us riders but ppl driving around in their cars with all the cellphone crap going on.. stay safe all. At 36 I've given up race replicas, naked bikes for me is where it's at. I've also become fond of the retro bikes. My favorite that I've owned and still do is my CB1100 for the naked/retro combo, but adding this bike to the stable looks like a possibility.
Bought mine at the beginning of April. I'm coming for a Ninja 650 and on my third riding season. It's in for it's first service so I've never even revved it beyond 5700RPM, so I haven't even cracked the surface of it's power. This thing has a TON of power! I will respect it and grow into it. It's the best bang for your buck out there, and a fantastic bike to boot! Great review man!
hey man, how is it going? I'm looking to buy one (the last of it's kind) but I'm worried about the 150ish HP my current bike is a 600 has around 100
1000cc about 150 horsepower bike "I feel like this is going to be a fantastic bike around town" 🤣 you would normally think something like a 150cc automatic scooter would be
fantastic around town. "The power band on this bike is much lower than 5000K" ? Haha I feel like chase did not know what he was talking about here, this bike had good torque everywhere except a short dead spot on some models around 5000K.
This bike had an awesome top end, better than all the other naked bikes in this era like the Z1000, Speed Triple, Honda CB1000R and those bikes that was below the super naked class. This bike is still a hoot to ride even today and you can get it used for very cheap, like around 6000-7000$.
For that kind of money it is like the fastest modern naked bike you can get for the money and it does not differ that much compared to the newest model that came out in 2022, especially not for the huge difference in money.
It seems your the only one that has had problems with shifting and the handling and the turn radius!!!! I haven't had an issue with any of that, maybe you had a lemon or something, I love my gsx-s1000! So far it's the best bike I've ever had:)
Same here. I have no problems at all with mine. But mine is a 2018 so maybe its something thats fixed.

I demo rode one of these back in March, I preferred it to the GSX-R, especially around town which is where you’re gonna spend pretty much all your time, and at 110mph it was planted and stable, I loved it.
had mine for a while now clocked up 3200 miles as of this morning love it so far put a tail tidy on and a nice seat cowl which sorts the look of the rear end out.
My first exposure to this bike was at AIM Expo last year, I didn't really care about it until I sat on the thing. For me, probably the most comfortable stock ergos I've ever experienced.

I had a test ride on this with a Yoshi R11 attached, lots of fun with traction control off, I'm seriously thinking about buying one for my daily commute, love it.
The D214’s hold the nimbleness down a tad but, they really hold a corner. I changed the stock tires and it really brought the handling to life.
I noticed the gearbox smoothes out like butter right after the first service. I couldn’t be happier with the 2019 “FZ” model.
I just picked up a 2016 GSXR 1000 I compared to the BMW in the Aprilia I chose this bike because I got it for 9700.00 out the door with Yoshimura exhaust fender eliminator kit and steel braided brake lines added. if you look at the Aprilia or BMW you're going to spend about 5 to $7,000 more also with all the electronics on each of those bikes when something breaks and eventually it does you're going to spend a pantload to fix it good luck with that Suzuki's are the most reliable bike versus the Aprilia of the BMW.
ive owned both the fz09 and s1000 and this bike is wayyyyy more power than an fz09

I know this is an old video but I used to have a GSX-S750 and the shifting sucked....until I figured out what the deal was. The engine is cold natured and just putting around like your showing the engine doesn’t really get warmed up if that makes any sense. After say an interstate run at higher rpm it seemed to shift a lot better. Plus it seemed to run kinda sucky when the engine was cooler lol.
Even though I absolutely love the beauty shots of the bike in 4K, I think i would still prefer 1080p 60fps.

I test rode this the other day. Loved it. Prefer the Z1000 but this is cheaper and more comfortable imho and I would definitely not put of the chance of owning one. How ever the cross plane R1 is calling my name and will be my first litre bike.

Hey Chase sir! i bought a 2011 Kawasaky Versys 650 a week ago and i wait desperately to bring it home (it´s about 160Km/100miles away) but the weather sucks. I didn´t ride in 8 Years and your firstride videos are not helping at all, i want to ride again SOOOO bad.

I might buy this instead of the GSXR1000, seems like a more practical bike for all around riding.
It's the K5 motor and it was loved for its long stroke it made great torque in the low and mid range. Try riding any GSXR1000 from 05-08.
This bike should not be compared to the MT09 it is actually faster than the MT10 there are multiple videos on youtube about it. The MT09 is way slower. MT09 is 115HP this bike is 150HP
I'm pretty sure this video helped me make my decision to buy this bike.
I will say I'm liking the centered camera instead of off on the side, even if it is a bit lower. Having it actually in line with where you are looking is the only way to go.

I test rode this bike and the gsx-r1000 at the moto show in los angeles.
I own a fz09 and found that the fz09 has a more violent delivery of torque, I did find the gsx-s1000 to have more power than the fz09. Like at half throttle and I was already flying... never got the chance to give it all the beans. Come to think of it, I've never given the fz09 all the beans as well, but the fz09 does feel like it deflates a little bit at the top. Which is fine by me :P
Seems like a great bike but the styling is just a bit off to me. A bit too round and cuddly. It looks like it melted in the sun on the tanks shrounds.

Funny you mention you didn't like the handling so much. All the other reviews say how great the handling is. Low center of gravity, centralized mass, easy to flip side to side, etc.
Its an amazing bike to ride. When this bike hits the corners im in heaven.
Gotta point out that the blog-post the accompanies this video (and I assume all future first rides) is awesome. The stock exhaust sound sample is very welcome addition as well as the cool pictures.
Wait. How can you judge the handling of a bike if it wasn't taken on any actual twisty roads?

@@TheShubbah I've seen at least a proper review on twisties and the bike was praised precisely for it's nimbleness, agility and the brakes. It's unfortunate that most suzukis get shitted on because they are not cool, or trendy, or the latest bling nonsense. I couldn't care less though, I have my V Strom and I enjoy every second on it.
@@ioandragulescu6063 I'm ok with people not thinking Suzuki is cool lol.. my second bike was a SVS 650 and I loved it, a few bikes later I was considering the V Strom but ended up with the gsxs 1000.. no regrets.. what a bike, by far my favorite
I have 2018 F, and you should try newer one. They fixed the throttle problem. I love my bike.
I see a lot of comments about you not having 1080p 60fps. I'd like to point out that those of us with older computers can't watch 60fps videos and when you tubers upload It 60fps it forces us to watch their videos in 480p.
Stick with 1080p60 Chase. Very few people have a 4k TV/monitor.
FYI traction control can be changed while riding but u have to release the throttle. Amazing bike all around. I love it
is it me, or you just have something against the gsxs models, you did the same move while doing the u turn on both bike, right in the middle of the street, mate i have the gsxs750 and it turns in places where a friend on ducati 696 can not 11:25 have a look
One of my favourites... the next project will be an older one of these and transplanting into a rigid bobber frame...
You could end these first ride videos with a nice outro featuring some graphics with your pros & cons of the bike with some music....

The Z800 and FZ-09 are middleweights not super nakeds. This bike was designed to compete with bikes like the Z1000, FZ1, Speed Triple, Aprilia Tuono V4R etc.

The Gixxus is a great all round naked bike. I don't know about the wind complaints maybe it's just cold where you live but here in Australia, I ride one 80Ks each way to work with 50 of that on a Highway at LEGAL speeds : ) and don't really find the wind too bad. The throttle is snatchy around town but I'm very happy with the Gixxus. As you said it's not a beginners bike but with the TC set at 2 it's a very forgiving motorcycle to ride. Great review and keep up the good work mate. I see where Leadpin gets his inspiration from!

soulerflare7 Yes, I still greatly enjoy the bike. As far as the throttle goes, I got used to it after about a week but it wasn't that bad. But, its an amazing bike. Tons of power, very nimble and people constantly talk to me about it when I take it places.

05- 08 ENGINE DICKHEAD DERP!
Actually every engine from 01-08 is supposedly the same shell. I believe the k5-k6 just used a longer stroke crank and that’s why it makes so much torque.

Nice Review, and Just in time. Im looking to Upgrade to ether a FJ09 or the F version of this bike. Im leaning Twards the FJ tho, do to its super cheap insurance and its Front Tire Tread savings. Also The Hard Luggage, Apparently The GSXS Frame was not modified to accept Hard Cases.
everyone complains about pulling in the clutch on gsxrs. is it that big of a deal?
keenanalford32 Sometimes it's a little annoying on my bike, but mostly because It's carbed and it needs the choke on cold starts.

Seriously, what kind of sorcery did Yamaha did to the FZ-09? I'm just like you, I test rode this and the FZ and I know the GSXS is the better bike but I cant help but think I would be happier with the FZ. FZ has a more playful personality, that has to be what make us go crazy over it. lol
The GSXS's stock sounds amazing in person btw, I loved it.
+DJ MotoVlogs I have an 2007 FZ1 and I absolutely love it. It's very playful and responsive. I get complements on it all the time and it's just a joy to ride. Personal preference I guess :)

+Raul S I totally agree. When I reviewed the footage after filming I thought the same thing. It's part of getting used to a new camera angle. Should be better in coming FRs.
I got one and ride the tail of the dragon, it's good in the turns, I mean my FZ-07 was raw but this 1000 can.Maybe check the suspension setup.

I test rode one of these at the IMS show in November. I fell in love almost instantly. I do wonder if there's something up with the transmission on that one though, as the one I was on shifted pretty smoothly. I will say that it did feel slightly heavier than the FZ-07 when cornering, but it wasn't awful by any stretch. As it stands, my next bike is either this one or the FZ-10 (MT-10) if it ever comes stateside. ;)

You can change traction control when you throttle off whilst on the move
Its based on the GSX-R K5 motor, best motor Suzuki ever made and some say the best litre bike engine ever made for the street. Mainly due to the low end grunt from the long stroke but it also has a batshit top end.
I was really excited for this C2WFR. It didn't seem like you liked it as much as Baron did, but I'm still really excited to see Suzuki become a little more competitive with their bikes.. What did you think of the new '17 GSXR-1000 concept?

Fender eliminator kit for DAYS.
My guess is being a naked bike and catered to touring is style riding, it has a flatter rear tire. if you went with a peaked rear tire it would probably lean over better. my bike was the same way

Chase - the reason why the GSX-S doesn't "fall" into turns probably has more to do with the tires on the bike than the suspension/steering geometry.
If u like instant torque... Go ride a later/latest model RSV/Tuono V2/V4. When u think ur gonna wheelie ur already doin one :)
Hey Chase ive seen you review almost every naked bike in exception to two.....they are both from Ducati. ..the (streetfighter)....and most preferably the ducati monster (695)...I know uve got abit of a distaste for the company since the hypermotard......but try to be abit open minded u did do one for the scrambler...so why not consider those two?..... btw mad respect to your videos, u really have an awesome editing style keep it up bro!
I want to thank you for ur review. I was thinking of getting the GSXS, after ur review I feel for myself it's too much bike for my needs. Though I've been riding for some 30yrs I don't need 150 horsepower under me. Like all riders we always want something bigger but I'll keep looking for an upgrade from my Ninja 650. May be the Kawasaki 800. Would be nice when ur review that bike. Thanks again for all ur reviews and safe riding and guys wear ur gear.........
