    This was so weird to watch, because AA focus spec seems so trivial these days. With airships gone, game feels a little bit barren too. But still, Ohio delivers.

    US BB probably the only line that's the best for full AA build especially ship that has defensive AA cons like Vermont.
    Not only will you completely destroy half of his squadron, but you will also stay afloat even after he hits you with the remaining squadron. (aslong its not USS or skip bomber)
    It just too bad that these AA buff doesn't affect Fighter plane...
    I play full AA Vermont and AA Minatour, Just for the chance of CV not kill me in one strike and welcoming the hybrids
    But man... I love my AA Vermont more than my AA Mino.
    Sometimes AA Vermont is too good against planes that CV will ignore me and render my AA build useless, lol.

      Yeah if their is one thing the US Dreadnaughts got going for them, it's AA fire power. Def AA really is a Night and Day Difference when it comes to AA sometimes. Generally speaking though, Flak is the best defense (if you can get your team to cluster in groups), once they get past that, if all your AA rings have about the same damage you should be fine.
      Just something iv noticed playing Flint, all its aa rings have similar damage. As opposed to a US BB or tech line Cruiser which has most of AA in MID and Short range and only like 50 in Long range.

    jinan austin yodo are all very suitable for full aa builds because they really got nothing to lose anyway and their full aa can actually shoot down some planes

      It's still a stupidly tough cruiser but it's AA isn't bad and with a build you get radar cool down reduction whenever the cv is trying to hit you.

      I went AA captain build on Brisbane cos you dont have smoke and mostly you are nice target for carriers..it helped a bit. But still if there is a Malta focusing you, you are dead in few strikes...

    I've played otherwise full secondary Ohio a lot in Airship. Only thing is I do use 11% accuracy mod and it seems to work in randoms as well with that.

    The problem with reinforced sectors is that good CVs can "outplay" that quite easily with squadron which attack from bow or stern. All they need to do is wait for the moment you choose a side and then slightly changing their angle to the other one. But I don't think that many CVs are actually doing that, I mean you still have CVs that fly into flak lmao

    Good point about not getting focused by cv possibly. I think as a streamer more likelihood you will be focused due to notoriety but for us peasants the aa build might not work out as well! Good video

    Weege is also so subtle with skills - cv player has skills designed to reduce dmg taken and improve dmg done. While warship captain is in situation "not enough points" and mods
    We are basically in situation stock AA vs boosted cv planes
    Hydro/defaa is another example. So subtle, mini radar useful in every battle or occasional AA action... Deffaa needs to be separate consumable

    my idea for AA buff is to make AA affected by the same buffs given to secondaries, so you can spec secondaries and get better AA fire rate/range

    AA builds in some ships are scary, i love my gouden leeuw and worcester AA builds [except i use the reload module on worcester instead of the AA one]
    Can easily destroy a whole squad of FDR due to the damage increase of the flak

    Please help me understand this: I like your zoom-settings. Can you please explain, what mods you use for that? I always have a problem focusing ships because if I zoom in and lead appropriately, the body is out of the frame. This doesn't happen in your videos. I asked RipperDD and he tried to help but I don't get it. It is really frustrating - especially if you play a DD and run against a DD.

      @@KixSlim WG needs to get paid lol. Yep maybe make the switch fee 50 Dubs, 50k captain xp, 50k free xp or 1 mill credits? I rarely switch my captain builds as it’s too expensive to do so. Introduce a budget system to swap your special captain builds and I would be swapping constantly.

      What i think can work is something like world of tanks has, if you play a ship more after you full unlock her you get access to a second build where you can choose different equipment and captain skills.
      So captains in that ship will be able to choose 2 builds and equipment will have 2 loadouts too.

    WG should implement a feature where u can pick a crew skill build that u made before getting into the battle and u could make maybe 2 types of it. It should be free on premium ships and on tech tree ships u would need to pay maybe 500 gold up to a 1k max to have this feature.
    It wouldnt be too op and it would also bring them a nice amount of money IMO

    The issue you described about spending points on anti-CV skills when a CV might not even be in a given match, and even if they are in the match they may not engage you is something I have been pointing out for years, from well before the CV rework, as a huge problem with the cost of the skills compared to their utility. Could I see myself spending 3-5 points on anti-CV skills? Maybe. 10+? Hell no.

      Economic boosters + high damage + high ribbon count + high kill count + premium ship buff + premium time buff + possible first victory of the day buff = butt loads of XP especially in a win and especially for somebody who was probably at the top of the leaderboard for his team.
      I haven't put up numbers quite to the level of an expert like PQ but it's not terribly difficult for me to rack up over 10,000 XP in a match under the right circumstances. Here's a good example: Best game I've had in my Massachusetts I was running a green XP booster, I got 7 kills, was at the top of the leaderboard for XP in the match, we won the match and it was my first win in that ship for the day. Ships like Ohio and Massachusetts already come with a buff to XP, first victory of the day is a buff and I mentioned I used the green buff. The result of all of that was a 10,000 XP game for me off of a base XP of 1600 for the match. If I had happened to be running a blue booster on that game I probably would have had over 20,000 XP for the match. If I was running premium time it would have been even more. You can google charts and spreadsheets that attempt to explain it all but there are definite advantages to stacking bonuses. To be honest it's a waste on a ship like Massachusetts or Ohio unless you need the XP for a mission goal or for your daily crates because in order to derive any benefit from it otherwise you have to use doubloons to convert your premium ship XP to Free XP. I only ran green buff because I was trying to close out a mission for the new Pan Asian Commander.
      And if you are new to the game you shouldn't worry about running a bunch of buffs to boost your XP. The only reason I have the amount of temp bonuses I do is that I've hoarded them for years and years. My goals in the game are completely and totally different now than they were 3 years ago. If I could send myself a note when I first started playing it would be "don't RUSH". It's kind of like chess in that it's not hard to understand how the various pieces move but it's a lot more difficult to make them move in concert together to make you a good player. I consider myself pretty average. However I was checking my win percentages in ranked over the last 4 seasons last night and I have seen a visible uptick in my win percentages, not much really make a couple of percentage points every couple of seasons but I am getting a little better.

    I think you should try this build with St vincent. I had so much fun with a similar build as it's secondaries are actually very good! It has 18 secondaries per side compared to ohios 10 and gks 14 for perspective. And they have good pen and fire chance! AA is good as well plus the armour works well for brawling

      @Wote the max range is 11 km and the accuracy is surprisingly good mainly because of how many guns there are. I've had games with 300 plus hits with 30k damage plus another 30 in fires quite often

      That's what those ships are fucking for. That's the way my Massa and Georgia are set up and that's the way I will set up Ohio too. The only new thing I've tried for Massachusetts that seems to be working well is I ditched the secondary mount damage protection for the repair buff available for coal from the armory and went with a hybrid secondary/survival build. And it works really well. It allows me to hang in a fire fight long enough for my secondaries to do some great damage unless there are a bunch of 18 inch and 20 inch gunned BBs shooting at me. I no longer fear flame throwers because by the time they get a second fire set on me my repair is up again and the improved American heal repairs any fire damage anyway. Nothing is more annoying than seeing a secondary BB hiding at the back of the damn map at the midpoint of a map with most of their health still intact. NOTHING!

    I think this really features more that Ohio can be built with anything in mind and will still do well, similar to how it doesn't matter what you throw onto a Nevsky, it'll still be a Nevsky and do Nevsky things. Notice that AA build or not, the cv was getting strikes off. 100k AA damage seemingly entirely unimpactful to the actual gameplay. So yea idk, good game, but you haven't convinced me that speccing AA and sacrificing other fairly necessary items like dispersion reduction is worth it.

    AA skills and Def AA certainly have their moments. Generally speaking if you DO speck into it you can shoot down Japanese and German planes pretty easily, Russian planes have the Range to not give a shit, US planes are tough but will die to a Flak puff or 2, British planes though......your screwed. Not gonna lie though if random people could group up "properly" with overlapping Flak fields CVs would be alot less effective.
    Still hate that your AA damage is effectively kneecapped by "percentage to hit" modifier. AA would be alot better without it. On top of that, the thing with alot of AA ships now, most of their damage is concentrated in a particular RING, usually the SHORT and/or MID range AA while the Long range AA barely does any damage. German AA can be surprisingly good, Russian AA is good cus it has no SHORT range, the Dutch just have stupidly powerful AA guns for their tier.
    Flint for example (and the Atlanta's in general) have 130 give or take AA damage across all their AA rings so the AA is actually QUITE potent since the closer a plane gets, it effectively TRIPLES your damage ones their right on top of you. And thats not including Sector reinforcement (which iv noticed recently takes about 2 seconds to fully focus) and Def AA (meme all you like wows players, it does make a difference).

    First! Hey PQ, you should do a breakdown video of how to effectively push in / stall early game with secondary battleships in the current state of random battles. I’ve had a tough time recently losing just a ridiculous amount of hp just trying to get into effective range, not necessarily secondary range either. RIP airship escort, we all miss you.

      That is basically the ultimate discipline even for non-secondary battleships. Everything you know and everything that is happening in the match plays into deciding when and where to push or not, but some things you can do right now to imrove, if you arent doing these already: Pick your side, then sail ahead and wait for some spotting information. Count both your allied and enemie ships on each flank. If you are on the weak flank against the strong flank: Dont even think about pushing. If you are strong and the enemy weak: Be more ballsy, but keep an eye on your mates as you do, maybe even type your intentions in chat and ask people to come along. If it is not as clear cut: Keep at midrange and use caution until the match develops a bit more.
      Also, this applioes to ALL ship types: If you are unsure and dont know whether to kite or push: Keep at a distance that you will just be allowed to go dark if you stop firing. If you are permaspotted by a DD or some light cruiser and therefore cant maneuver as you please, that is a massive problem and you have been outplayed at that point. Yes, this means you will sometimes be forced to be in a worse decision, just because of the presence of a DD, but that is the game, he is your counter. You must counter him before the DD disables your romulan cloaking device.

      @@BruderRaziel I’m running conceal but considering I like to play the Preussen, DDs just lead to early spotting and getting focused as I try to get to an island for safety. I think I try and push an island too soon. I find myself holding fire to save detect and German dispersion is to be desired.

      @@Connor-nc1sc If you have fill conceal build and dont sail too much towards the mapmiddle you should not be spotted early unless you shoot or a CV/SUB rushes you, in which case, as bad as it sounds: You are shit out of luck, GK/Preussen cannot evade CV strikes and cannot run away from most subs effectively.
      Getting into a position where you cannot be focused by too many ships, but still influence the battle is very important for german bbs, as they are massive targets that handle very sluggishly. Your armor will not help you against fires and sustained hits to your broadside will kill any ship fast, turtleback or not.
      But also, as much a pain it is to say: Preussen/GK are difficult ships, they get bullied by cvs and if they get themselves into a bad spot it often takes most of their health to get out, if they get out. Sometimes you will simply have a bad time, because this line has limits and well defined weaknesses. Even the best players sometimes struggle to get value out of their german battleships. I am excluding the battlecruiser line, because a well played schlieffen is a menace for sure.

      @@Connor-nc1sc Another thing to keep in mind: Imagine being on the other team, what do you do when a GK/preusssen is spotted on its way to whatever flank? You focus that target until it goes dark, this can cost 1/3 hp and more very easily and the match has not even properly begun, so triggerfinger-discipline and awareness of sightlines is paramount.
      However, if that same Preussen never shoots until it suddenly pops up on the far flank that their DD left open to flip the cap, then what? A full health german surprise can be gamewinning, if the enemy does not have the right ship in position to deal with it. The right ship would be one that has substantial torpedos, so be aware, even certain crusiers and battleships can be a problem.
      German BBs are paradox in the sense that they want to get close, but their their best possible conceal is still terrible and they maneuver like crap. The infamous rear-turret angles also dont help. So it is normal to struggle to make these contradictory characteristics work and that is why GK/Preussen does not appear in the competitive scene, unfortunately.
      Final tip before I go: The opportunity to push really aggresively and dominate your enemy is not a super common occurance. Once you master the game you will be able to actually create your own opportunities, but until you get there it is probably best to err on the side of caution, just dont overdo it and become the typical Conqu player sailing at a minimum distance of 20km while having one of the best concealments.
      I hope this was not too much ramble, but I once was passionate about this game and if even one of the tips helps you to improve, I would be very happy. :)

    If I could guarantee complete destruction by investing in an AA build on 90% of ships (Asashio shouldn't shoot down squads), then I would in a second. Not just at T10, but all of them. The griefer plague on the Asia server is no joke. i haven't played randoms for a loooong time because every game is double-grifer. I can't even escape them in ranked anymore (T5 ranked was THE BEST time).
    But it costs so much to respec that it's not worth trying.

      Get off of the Asian server then. CVs are nothing more than a nuisance to me 90% of the time. There are exceptions of course. I've gotten really good CV players that harass me the whole damn match. But what is more common is what I dealt with yesterday where a DD and a Ranger tried to cross drop me in my Warspite during ranked and completely missed me. It helped that I knew where the DD was shooting from of course but I still found myself slightly surprised, enough so in fact that I mocked them a little in chat for their sucky cross drop. Worst part about CVs to me these days is their spotting ability if I happen to be in a DD or a soft skinned cruiser.

      @@jimmtheballs yep pretty much. That's early in the morning on the East Coast of the US. The only problem is you are going to be limited to Random, Ops or Co Ops. They won't be running in Ranked battles at that time of day. Co Ops are awesome at that time of day because it is often just you and one or two other people so you can really farm damage, ribbons, kills, fires and flooding. Randoms are good because you don't get a bunch of noobs, it's a more seasoned group of players and it makes a difference. Try it sometimes and see what you think.

    They have completely screwed DD players. More radar dd's, more CVs, more BB's with planes, upcoming "Support CVs", and now secondary guns perfectly predict your movements.
    If i a DD moves into german sec range the sky turns red and you are followed by heat seeking shells for a minute solid

      Don't be bad and get spotted then. Everything is entirely predictable. You'll know in first minute where the radar ships are. Stay out of their range. You'll know with 30 seconds notice if a Cv is coming your way, find cover out of enemy line of sight. Its all predictable...

    I run AA builds on all my US Cruisers, with my concealment, by the time the planes reach the CV its too late to fly somewhere else. I guard our CV's for the first 5 minutes of the game I'm usually shooting down 20 to 25 planes. I choose to do this to see if we have a YOLO Team or not.

      @@darthteej1 the rest of the build is usually firechance, damage control and concealment so I just mosey and do what I can. I dont do that scientific spreadsheet stuff. It doesn't matter that much because like I said, I get thrown into YOLO teammates anyway.

    Gee it's almost building AA is actually good in this game. So sick and tired of BB mains batching and moaning that AA doesn't do anything
    Almost like you literally but zero skills or upgrades into ships that actually have decent AA
