- 10.7 has narrowed the gap between Ohio and Montana. Ohio takes 62,000 research points, or around 4.5 million XP (if you only reset the Harugumo line). That's a lot.

I remember PQ used to say Montana was not that strong of a ship anymore because of her 406s, looks like those 2 amazing games in his Montana one take made him do a 180.

There are ships i didn't like. I hated (Example: Marco Polo, Vanguard). Then i played them a little differently, more in line with their strengths. Then they aren't nearly as bad as i thought. Opinions can change over time with more expanded experience.
I used to think that until I dev struck an FDR in Monty at about 20-23KM. It was awhile ago so forgive me for not remembering the exact range. But the accuracy and super heavy AP shells can wreck a lot of ships. Imo Monty became more valuable after Dead Eye was removed as accuracy is rarer now.
From playing some Clan battles at t10, I think the Ohio is popular due to its handling, allowing it to get around the map as required, where some other BBs are sluggish. Along with its increased survivability due to repair speed, and some supression with secondaries. I think the 18 being able to overmatch more bows is key too, where a lot of heavy russian cruises bow tank at island entryways. So competitively speaking it can be very useful, especially if you don't have a lot of other meta ships, it does a good job
At long ranges if you want to land Ohio shells consistently on the target, you need to zoom out a notch while aiming. Much much easier than having to lead the shots off the screen xD
Hadn't played Ohio for a while it always felt a bit meh...then did 310k, 6 kills with 4 from secondaries. It feels much better than it used to. Really hard hitting guns.
reset the line three times, once per RB season and you can get this ship, you get DOUBLE the RB points on the first line reset, the cost is roughly 1.9m fxp, save up 680k or so for one haragumo reset per season
For the first 2 resets, you want the Double Points because that gets 40000 + the 10000 from the RB unlock bonus (if you still have it) Then its your choice wether to wait for the DP for the last reset. Personally I would say do it either way because that extra 10000 left over may help you either start for another RB ship or a UU.

I have enough for my first RB ship of worth and i can't decide (same deal with steel) so this is helpful. Please do more of these or a recommended S tier ship list.
you should save your points till the end of the year when they announce the ships they are dropping. that way you don't miss out on getting a ship that is gone forever or a long time.

ohio is a PR sink, 130k avg does not even get to purple, while 130k in monty gets super uni
Who cares about PR when you are averaging 130 k dmg with likely 65+% winrate, i'd rather play a stronger ship with more influence than one which gets me better stats
Every steel and RB ship is a PR sink. Only experienced players can get them.

I just got Ohio 16th , and she is great much better that Montana , have laser accurate guns , great secondaries that with right captain secondary build reload quickly , I have Montana & Georgia mini Ohio , and in my experience playing Ohio is just fun :) , I have start to grind for her in June 1 , I have reset Republique , Shimakaze, Harugumo & Halland , mid July I done that regrind , 13th this month I have reset Harugumo (X2) and 3 day later I had Ohio I have spend no cash or DB to do it , but only premium account & resources that I have gathered , as free to play player (I won 90 days premium from SC) , I do not regret that regrind only in credit that cost me around 100.000.000 , I write this because I have never thought I will do any regrind , but RB is not so bad .
(BTW will I regrind other lines ? , yes x2 depend how much time I will have but Druid & Slava are welcome in my port)
Secondary on Ohio need improvements in survivability and they need the new tier 10 secondary range , for secondary BBs
I do have a question and I think it's quite an important one, what's aggression control ? Some people that are wayy better than I am at World of Warship tell of this as the key of being a good player, no matter the class (maybe I can think of CV being less harmed by the lack of it)

It probably means the ability of a ship to stop an aggressive push
So it would be a ship that you absolutely don't want to push into.
This depends on how the flank has developped and the ship composition.
you see so many players do a good job pushing a side but then they go around an island into the fire of 10 enemy ships and die real fast all because they don't look at the mini map, or don't wait for their team mates to catch up and support them. you just need to know its OK to hit the brakes some times and run into the island to stop vs doing a yolo and wasting your ship.
I think it's part of map awareness
Ohio is really enjoyable if you can get full pens. Problem is it seems to overpen a lot. The guns are kinda incosistent in that regards. I don't know if it is due to my aim or the lack of shell volume. I had no problems in the Iowa or Montana. I still think it is worth the grind.
Same issue with Georgia
How the hell did you get a OVER PEN on that hipper at the start? did the shell just go though the edge of his deck and out the bottom of the Hull? And of course 18inch shells are gonna pen Lightly armored targets, thats what the HE shells are for, don't get me wrong Citadels are nice but when you constantly get over pens after 2 salvos its just like "screw you your getting the HE shells!"
Well abou5t the pommerns guns being trash..now they may as wel be trash..but at the beginning of a match earlier i dev struck a prince eugen for 46K in the pommern ..I can say i was beyond ecstatic because i didnt see that one ever hapening with those 380's..Now are the german 380's the same as the french 380's?
Turret traverse, and rudder shift is also a "f*** you" to Montana
stick the legendary mod on Monty and you have a 15 sec rudder shift with 10% less fire and flooding thrown in for the cost of 1.5 concealment. well worth it these days

Hey PQ have you tried the new skill '' furious '' yet? Also as you did with Monty secondary build can you try Iowa as well? (you love the 12 406s but how about 9 406 with better accuracy?) Monty sigma is 1,9(or 1,8) and Iowa is 2.0.
Iowa’s sigma is the same as Montana; it is also 1.90 - they have the same accuracy. North Carolina is the only one that gets 2.00 sigma.
Also PQ is already running the Furious skill, he shows that at the end lol.
I just got it. First 3 games I only did 60k damage each game. It’s ap on angled ships over 15km away is crap. My best game was using mostly he and started 10 fires. 195k damage but 50k was fires. Never been able to get anywhere close10 fires since. I don’t have monty so can’t compare. I know ships have a learning curve but not that impressive for the what I had to pay for it.

Not ultrawide. The aspect ratio is 16:9, so the video has to be regular 4k

Ohio was better than Monty, but that changed this week. Monty has Anti-Sub charge but Ohio does not. The disadvantage is already shown in gold league ranked.
who plays with subs ? therefore nothing changed and subs suck.
Prolly WG not finish putting anti sub weapon which suppose to have it (especially premium ships)

@ Mohd Arif ... I think WG is giving OP premiums a bit of a nerf by not giving them ASW. Georgia doesn't get ASW either but all my mid tier premiums do if that particular BB line has them.
So they balance OP premiums by not giving them tools to fight 1 class.

@ANUBHAV SHARMA It's not a coincidence, from my experience of playing ranked, the distance subs fight you is equal the distance you can drop planes. So that leads to the conclusion: in order to support your DDs(who obviously won't suicide right at the moment they spot sub, if they want to play their role smart) you have to be within 10 km of closest enemy DD(cause subs are slow and won't be that much closer than DD) and the only ship you as a player would like to have that close is the one that can survive long enough under the pressure.
PQ, Was this game and the skills played before the release of 10.7? I ask because I noted the Capt. skills you have are not the same as the current skills, notably the enhanced Torp Protection (2 pt) on your Halsey. Thanks.
I'm really up in the air as to what ship I should first get in the Research Bureau Potato? The YOLO DD is high up on the list, but the Ohio looks to be so much fun.
I got the Yolo Emilio as my first Research Bureau ship and have never regretted it. One of my favorite ships just because there is nothing else like it in the game. I'm a DD main though, so ships like Ohio, Slava, etc, don't appeal to me as much.
Vampire II, and I'm not even a DD main. Lots of fun!
if you are good at DD and play it a lot, then go yolo. if not, ohio is great too. make the decision based on which you'd play more.
Honestly the way the current meta is in randoms, Paolo isnt worth it. That said it is the only truly unique ship imo in the RB right now and honestly that makes it worth the rather modest grind you have to put in to get it. I got it and honestly dont regret it because I know it's one of the most fun experiences in game.
I just purchased glorious Slava last night. Must say, not disappointed. If you enjoy seeing cruiser like consistency on BB guns, then it’s where it’s at. It’s quite common to land 7/9 shells, or better, per salvo when my aim is correct.
Don’t let the “slava is a squishy, back line sniper” argument fool you. I’m averaging 2million potential dmg, with heals left over, playing about 15km from the enemy.
People in front of you angled? No problem, put that range mod to work and hit broadside targets 28km away across the map. You have no issue dumpstering broadside, unaware, targets.
Good ship for ranked? Absolutely not, as flamu puts it, the strength of the ship lies in the inattentiveness of random battle players.
If you just want a fun, blow some steam in random battles, consistent ship, Slava’s where it’s at. Have other missions/goals? Don’t bother with Slava. My two cents for you.

Whatever person at wargaming that came up with resetting and regrinding a ship line for ship rewards was a genius. I'm not falling for it though. At 44k research pts thru normal grind missions. I'll get there eventually.

Nice video. Worst ship for research points is Siegfried. Unbelievable not fun to play without secondary’s and it burns longer as a battleship. The 27 mm nose armour is so huge that you get overmatched very consistently. Worst choice in my opinion 🤮
I played few times against Siegfried, I want mention mainly those my matches with my Agir. I was scared and worried most times of its 380mm guns, but that Bismarck 26s base reload time and just 6 of them makes it mainly medium to close range big threat, while its hull is still Agir if not wrong. I was excited to get Siegfried for its guns, but when I watched that guy look more like BB player far more evaluating each shot, its not ship for me.
Btw I use reload mod on Agir get guns ready on 17,6s, that proved me far more usefull than increased range. Only single guy i met in Agir used range mod and did it to out gun me by distance. Mostly you need to deal little bit with DDs sometimes too, there faster guns still help. Where Agir shines is brawling if you make it there enough fit still its death dance then, similar to Pommy. So my recommended ship would be rather Agir for that free xp.
Ohio would look better with the chrome camo but it will cost you 10,000 steel to obtain.
Opinion on the Slava?
As someone who has Slava I can say she’s a great ship but suffers from poor damage. You get 9 laser accurate rail guns but it has one of if not the lowest alpha strikes at the tier for a BB. You basically have to get those citadels to deal large chunks of damage and the guns being 16 inch means you overmatch very little. You basically sit back and pummel ships showing broadside and can tank a decent amount while angled away at range but you won’t be doing much up close until the later part of the game when you can push in. I still enjoy her and think she’s a solid choice as she has the polar opposite style of Kremlin with great accuracy. Though it’s not uncommon to see bounces when ships angle at range.

@@howoad yeah, if a CV wants to kil you , it will. But with AA builds on ships with good AA can put a lot of hurt on the CV too, its one way of saying that CV will not enjoy killing you.
I just hate building to a skill that maybe is only used a third of the games. CV is not in every game and if it is, it doesn't necessarily attack you.
Wouldn't say the Ohio is straight up "better". But its equally strong side grade to Montana. I find myself wanting Montana while in ohio,Ohio, wanting Ohio when in Montana.
This usually means to me, both ships are viable choices.

I just can't figure this ship out. I have much better success in the Georgia, the Montana, the Mass..... The South Carolina.

As someone who chose Slava over Ohio it’s definitely more “meta” though far less versatile. Idk if I’d recommend it overall though. A lot of people have the misconception that it retained its inverse Soviet dispersion buff at range when really it just has a flatter dispersion curve. Though Slava was a dream to play in the deadeye meta awhile back.

Its good to have indepth critics served with video. I love criticizing and reading it too, it makes you aware of problem rather that getting boiling blood. Need to mention this kinds of critics need to be made still non insultive and describe problem. Reminds me those voyage containers, lol.
