This performance always gets me
One thing that no one comments on, though they probably notice, is that So Hyang _never_ moves the microphone away from her mouth except for dramatic effect. I've never seen anyone with such absolute control over their voice that they didn't have to compensate in the louder parts by moving the mic to one side or the other, or even a couple of feet further out front. When she sings loud, she sings loud, and when she sings softly, she sings softly. But no matter what, she can control her voice so well that that mic stays pretty much planted right in front of her mouth right where she wants it! 🤷♂️🎶😳
No one can compete against her when she sings of love, consolation and hope...because God is there with her. . . 😁☺

This song gives me chills every time I hear it. My cousin Danielle received a double lung transplant and the days leading up to her getting the call that they had lungs for her, she was in the ICU and her CO2 levels were very high so she stayed in a very confused and scared state because she couldn't sort her thoughts to truly understand what was going on. The CO2 levels had her so confused. So, I made a calm playlist on my iPad and left it with her and my aunt and it just played the same 10-12 songs over and over. This song was her favorite. So when she would start to get frustrated and trying to take her oxygen off because she didn't understand what was going on I would ask her if she wanted to dance. She would hold my hands and just sway and that seemed to calm her down. My aunt took a video of us "dancing", which I cherish now that she's gone. She was more than my baby cousin, she was my best friend. Life without her just feels incomplete, but I know she's in a better place- home, healthy, happy, and whole. I'll see her when it's my turn to go home. The day she got the call for her lungs my aunt (her mom), her husband, and I were taking shifts sitting with her because she was too confused to be along. For some reason that particular day she only wanted me, so we danced to this song probably 40-50 times. But it kept her calm! Now I'll throw the record on when I just need to dance along and thing about her sweet soul.

She sings every song as if it was HERS, and she sings them as she is living them at that moment. This is where her emotion comes out so much better than any other singer. Now my grandmother was an awesome woman. SoHyang, is THE BEST woman I know of..... ever. She has it all, even if she never sang a note. Just the person she is, and how I have heard her speak of her beliefs, and how she carries herself, and treats others and thinks of others, she is the best woman on the planet. Just sayin. Then you add in how she is Mariah, Whitney and Celine all rolled into one, but way better than all of them, and you have a woman that there may never be another like her ever. I am 59... have heard all those that came before, and they are not even in the same league as SoHyang.

Your reaction was honest and heart felt! Don't worry about crying. All us guys did that for at least the first dozen times we watched So Hyang (hYong as in song) too, and I'm 62. She is the greatest singer I've ever heard or seen, male or female. And she is such an excellent example for younger people, with all the hardships she's faced and the faith she rides it all out on. God takes care of her and she's the first one to proclaim that!

Thank you for your direct and emotional reaction. This is the performance that introduced me to Sohyang and I have shed many tears (of appreciation and gratitude) over her singing. Many have made to the effort to do vocal analysis, but I think you got it right. The point is about how Sohyang sings to our soul with her voice. I've said repeatedly that Sohyang's singing is a conduit that allows us the listeners to find our own inner voice buried in our heart. We feel overwhelmed by the discovery and grateful at the same time for her guide. Really love your comment about that Sohyang is classy and elegant in her stage, because it surely feels pointed.
Beyond her phenomenal singing skills and magical ability to communicate through music, we also know the message she carries is not some pretense or ploy to trick or trigger our emotional response. There is a sincere and caring soul behind the message.

I still remember an interview with Sohyang. The reason why she sang with all her strength was that she sang loudly so that God could hear. Her voice was given by God. I still remember a few years later. that's why we always cry when we listen to her song. I'm not a Christian, but I can only describe her as an angel's voice.

This song gets me emotional every time I hear it, but I still play it. I searched high and low for the vinyl and cried in the middle of the record store, I'm sure that thought I was a nut case. But, when my cousin was in ICU waiting for "the call" telling her that they had new lungs for her. The few days prior to her getting her transplant she was super anxious, out of it because her CO2 was super high, but she didn't really understand what was going on. Well I made a playlist on my iPad of probably 10-15 really mellow calming songs and I left it up there and it just played on repeat for about 5 days. When I got off work I always went to see her and my aunt told me she was trying to take the oxygen off but she wanted to see the screen so she could see how she was doing (which was not good so we lied to her, if she would have known how low her oxygen levels were it would have just elevated her anxiety even more.) but I asked her if she wanted to danceI would stand by her bed and hold her hands and we would just sway back and forth, and this song was her favorite. I wish I could add pictures of video in comments because I have a video of us dancing. I'll send it to you on IG.

So hyang one of my favorite female vocalists. Her performance of “ everyone” is beyond amazing. But I have a request that you react to her closest and best friend, “Park Ki Young”, I like Park Ki Young because they have about the same vocal range but Park Ki Young is a tad more versatile and can belt them with equal emotional impact and power in rock, pop, soul, jazz flamenco, and classical ( opera).
“ So hyang”
receives a lot more reactors and reactions than Park Ki Young”
because of her ability to sing some American songs in English which she performs with emotional impact.
But please don’t judge a vocalist by the number of requests you receive-altho your fans are usually right.
But I’m a professional singer and my singing friends unanimously agree that both So Hyang and Park Ki Young are not only world class vocalists but equal in talent.
What I’m trying to say is I believe Park Ki Young deserves far more reactions and I promise you and your subscribers who love So Hyang ( and I am among them) that you won’t be disappointed listening to a Park Ki Young song. They are both about the same age ( early 40s but look amazing for their age!) and the closest and best of friends.

Now you understand what she can do with the proper setting (i.e., full orchestra, back up singers,,, etc). 'You Raise Me Up' is another epic performance you don't want to miss. She deconstructed and rearranged this simple but boring pop tune and turned it into a truly moving gospel masterpiece. If you want to witness 6 minutes of nonstop unbelievable vocal showcase, 'Everyone' is a must-see. By the way, great reaction.

Unfortunately I actually didn’t like the arrangement of Lean on Me. Her vocals were great but I just don’t really like her take on the song. It felt a little too all over the place and never flowed.
It’s like her only song that I don’t like.
@@thatsmyassbrostop and hey, that's understandable! Her Lean On Me rendition was very jazzy and gospel (the vocally boastful type); genres where not a lot of people can vibe to. Her "Everyone" was also gospel but was much more 'arranged' for me as well.

Gitana react to her singing Lean On Me with Michael Bolton, its more of a fun and amazing experience. Two others that will be emotional would be Everyone and You Raise Me Up, also outstanding. Sohyang has the ability to touch you with her ability to deliver the message she wants you to hear, and does it with unbelievable technique and vocal skills. She is one of a kind.
