Tony, Tony, Will here, Phoenix, Arizona. You are my favorite. Because of you I bought the Roland EA7 a couple of years ago. Now I bought the Yamaha PSR-S975 it should arrive Thursday, I can’t wait. Your demos are amazing, your manners even more. Keep up the good work. Peace from the US and again thank you. Will
I've played keys for many years. Yamaha to me has the best sounds of all competitors. Cleaner and more rich than korg or Roland . I'm sure many would disagree but oh well glad there are choices. 😜
Hey Tony excellent Demo...i bought theKeyboard Yamahs PSR S 975...its really awesome...thr grand piano tones r really attractive..i really like the sound, its style..its so clear..thanx for the demo
Thank you Tony. This is the first time I've actually heard some of the unique features with the S975. It seems like no one but the folk in Romania have been using this, but you've done some things they haven't. First, they've been speaking Romanian (Which I don't understand), and also, they've been playing Romanian folk music. You, on the other hand speak English (of course) and you're playing music that really shows the power of the S975. I have an S770, and watching you play, I've gained some really good sound ideas to incorporate into my music. Again, thank you so much. By the way, I'm really glad that you've come to work for Bonners. You're bringing some really fresh ideas to their presentation of this keyboard. I'll be listening for your next recording.
Mohammed El Sanousi Actually though this keyboard is not a full step up from the S770, it does have more styles and voices than the S770. Plus more onboard storage memory than the S770. I wouldn't trade my S770 for it, but it is interesting. More voices, styles, and memory? I would say that that puts it in a class of it's own-shall we say that different is not the same as what was before, perhaps unique?
Robert Christopulos well ... actually you are correct on those point's but i am not sure why yamaha doesn't want to change the design of the Psr's it's dated .. i am not sure to buy this one or the Korg pa1000 ....
Mohammed El Sanousi Actually, I'd tell you to wait for another year. I think Yamaha just released this machine to whet the appetite. The next release should have a touch screen, adding some other features, and being better organized. As it is, the S770 is considerably changed since I had bought my previous Keyboard-absolutely astounding changes since the S710. I'd really like to see a more sensitive touch, being able to choose the hall effect and have it hold till it is manually changed, etcetera. As it is, with a USB stick, there are thousands of wonderful styles and voices available to you, including most of those on the Genos. When I bought my keyboard I didn't need the vocalizer so I bought the S770, but I just love my keyboard. I hope that when you get yours, that you'll share with us.
Thank You so much Tony! I've got this instrument and enjoying it every day, discovering new features from articles and valued videos like You've done for all of us! Much respected and Appreciated! Cheers!
An excellent demo Tony. I have a 2 yr old '970' and in truth do not feel upgrading to the '975' is economic for me but for people who have a much lesser model / age / make and are looking to upgrade, then the '975' is to be highly recommended based on my experience of the '970' to date. I will wait another 2 years to see if a 'PSR S-980' for example is released which may feature much of the '975' material perhaps ?.
I was on the fence in buying this keyboard 6 years ago, and your video here helped to tip the scales. The possibilities are truly endless! Your melodies are off at times, but one gets the general idea. I like it that you chose to play songs people know, as opposed to freestyle improvisational jazz and the like. Your approach truly helps to sell the keyboard. IMO, the Genos is a waste of money. If a person knows how to play, the diversity of this device is more than enough to deliver a creative punch.
Just want to echo the two comments already posted. Thanks for another great, informative keyboard demo. I always look forward to a new video from you. There are 3 demo presenters I tune to regularly, and 2 are from the UK although I live near Houston, Texas. It's a small world after all, eh?
Hey fella you always do such amazing demos and unlike guitar gear reviewers you focus on the instrument and explain things professionally like an adult in stead of indulging us all in your witty irreverant, rock n roll personality ( think andertons reviews aargh). Wish Bonners was up in Yorkshire
Great playing man. I have a PSR S950 and tried the PSR S970. The only thing that is upgraded is the new audio style, larger screen, real strings, choir voices (ooh and aah), new vintage electric guitar, VCM effects, new real distortion effects and nothing more. Sadly, now it is replaced by SX900, which has more realistic voices, wave cycling voices, touch screen, bluetooth, and many more features than S970. BTW, I think I heard one of this beautiful orchestra soundtrack at 11:05 but forgot the name. What the song are you playing?
Hello Tony, Loads of thanks. Could you please comment upon the physical nature of the keys. How much noise do these make when played? Do these feel very plasticky, and produce a loud clickety sound? (I am rather weary after purchasing a Yamaha MOX6 synth in the past.) Thanks.
Hi, for someone who's familiar with Yamaha keyboard ( I have Yamaha PSR-S975), I hope you can help me figure out why in ACMP mode, all of the chords to the LEFT hand, the bass is set to C like these: F/C, D/C, A/C, C#m/C. Meaning all the bass sound is stuck in C. Of course the music I'm playing sound's way OFF. Is this an error that just develop, or there's something to reset this? I was hoping you could help me. Thank you in advance.
Bonners Music Superstore thank you, but I love it when you do the demos and give more sounds and styles like you did on the Korg pa4x. I only watch Bonner's because of you Tony. Thank you so much, hope you can create another Geno's one with more details and longer video. 😊
great video, I have a tyros 2 and accidentally the stalk speakers went bad. I want to make a decision between Yamaha hs5 and bose companion 50, which one would be good for use at home??
Hello Thank you for the great demo. I have a new PSRS 975 and I'm having difficulty finding how to achieve the "Trill" effect with the Trumpet as per the last demo on this video. I have my old PSRS900 which I always could get that effect with the Big Band Trumpet. I did nothing to adjust the settings on the 900, and it was just there. However, on the 975 I can not find a Trumpet voice that will replicate this? Is ther an adjustment somewhere for this, or do I just not have the proper voice for it?
This is a brilliant keyboard, does this keyboard feature a vocal harmony so you can plug in a microphone you sing through it and it makes your voice sound different? I'm thinking of getting this keyboard as I've been looking at different keyboards and this one has caught my eye. Does it also feature DJ controls?
Hi there! Yes indeed, the PSR-S975 does have the Vocal Harmony features. It does also have the new DJ Controls. Come down to our Eastbourne store (BN21 3JN) and give it a try!
I'll definitely would like to try it out, as I've been looking at a new keyboard for a while now and this PSR-S975 has caught my eye. Does it have an Arpeggio as well? I'm selling my current Keyboard and wasn't sure if you have a website that can Part Exchange a keyboard that I'm selling?
Is there a way to control level parameters of the 975 from a MIDI controller, like the Korg Kontrol mini controller. Basically,I want to assign style and part levels (and maybe cutoffs, knob parameters) to an external physical knob and slider controller that I could quickly manipulate part levels. Thanks.
It seems to be an excellent instrument. I have an old PSR 500 and I think it's time re-new with this one. Does anyone want to tell me how much it cost? In Usa $us I want to see if I can afford it.
Pls i want a yamah psr that comes with a bluetooth so that i can pair it with my bluetooth speaker. Do you fink that yamaha will make one in the future?.....i wont buy anymore prs hamaha series until it comes with a bluetooth ....... Looking forward for one in the future Thanks
Almost no difference - except the much higher price. A few more SA voices and the ability to save controller positions. That's it, for a whopping now up to £600 difference! @PianoMan 2018 I recommend you to stick with your DAW/VSTs setup for a general music production because nothing beats a DAW sequencer. Styles in keyboards are mainly used for stage performance, not producing music because of their variations repetition. Even if you have 4 variations, they are still repetitive like a robot. Instead, you can use the Genos sequencer to arrange your tracks using the Genos voices to create a midi arrangement (not a style), but again nothing beats a DAW sequencer in its flexible editing. Helloo, i dont understand what the fuss is about tge built in expansion packs, or the onboard memory. I have the s750 and multiple dozens of expansion packs playable. How? Well i downloaded them from psrtutorial.com/sty/yamaha/index.html and have them on my 8gb usb drive. They are free btw. Happy playing everyone.
You're talking about styles and the link you give is for styles only, not expansion packs. Yamaha styles have always been available both freely and commercially. They are tiny and you could put many thousands on a memory stick. Expansion packs are not free (apart from those bundled with new keyboards) and must be loaded into the keyboard itself. They contain sounds and styles.

I've finally got this amazing keyboard :-). I'm loving it, the styles and voices are amazing. I love everything about this keyboard :-)

Great demo! Love the Soprano sax sound, very expressive!

Brilliant demo indeed .. that trill on the trumpet sound is awesome .. cannot get that in other synths even!

Excellent demo. I am still using my good and very old PSR 620. Debating between the S 975 and the S 775.
Thanks for the post. Great and interesting demo.
the sound produced sounds good. thanks
Before i watched this i wanted to buy Genos but now I know this one's plenty for me.
Love the DX7 ep. Thanks.

Why the delivery was not available in India.
Is the sound quality sacrificed when it is connected to amp and mixer?
i love this demo..

It seems to be an excellent instrument. I have an old PSR 500 and I think it's time re-new with this one. Does anyone want to tell me how much it cost? In Usa $us I want to see if I can afford it.

What's the great difference between the 970 and the 975??
Almost no difference - except the much higher price. A few more SA voices and the ability to save controller positions. That's it, for a whopping now up to £600 difference! Yamaha are taking the mick on this machine. It's good but if you can find a second hand 970 go for it. The enormous price difference is entirely unjustified.

Yes, brass, woodwind, electric/acoustic guitar, organ are almost the same as Genos. Genos is still the top Yamaha arranger but I assume that they failed to make good sales out of it because of its odd price. So, they came up with this younger brother.
In my sales experience, small things always make good sales since they are sold in huge numbers. Big expensive boys generate lower sales.
However, Genos integrates well with Cuebase (not sure about logic pro) so you can even use Genos voices inside the DAW and edit your tracks later by using VSTs if you like.
Bottom line is, use a style to have fun and generate new ideas for music pieces. Use MIDI to arrange a complete non-repetitive song.

How does this compare to the Yamaha mx 88 or 61?
Hi Shamar! The MX88 and MX61 are of course a different type of instrument to the PSR-S975. This of course is an arranger Workstation rather than a Synthesizer like the MX series. You cant have expansion packs installed on your 8gb drive, and you cant install dozens on s750. You need more memory.
