    Thank you for this video as I was researching reviews on the R8000 groupset. Most others did not get into it as much as your bike technician. I found his approach to be much more helpful. I recently rebuilt my 2013 Scott bike last year but kept the old 6700 group. I'm so happy with the bike that I am considering throwing another $800 at it for the R8000 so I get new parts an a 11s. You noted about remaining in the 52t crank and 36t rear but that seems like cross chaining to me. Also, I'm not sure if there are some errors in your video but The new groupset I'm looking at only offers up to 32t in the rear which is what I'm used to anyway. Your video shows 34t and you mention 36t....a little confusing. I do appreciate you made this one for those of us who work on their own bikes etc. !

    That’s a great setup you have 52/36 to 11-34 is perfect for beginner to pro level riders

    Thanks for a great video. I'm also upgrading my Specialized Roubaix Expert from Ultegra 6700 to R8000. I'm going with a 12-30 cassette and cranks 50-34. My current setup is 11-28 cassette.
    I may later choose a different crank ratio and or cassette. Ride on!

    How did you fit the 11-speed cassette on your 10-speed free hub and wheel?

    • @cccrt
      @cccrt  Před 2 lety +1

      Lucky, I had a 10/11 speed free hub so it fit.
      Most older wheels have an 8/9/10 speed free hub body. Now newer free hub body's will be the 10/11 space. Most hubs you can replace the free hub body in order to accommodate the newer models. Most of the time it is easier and better to upgrade your wheel set to get new and better technology.

    What was the budget $ for the upgrade?

    • @cccrt
      @cccrt  Před rokem

      If I recall, about $1,200.00 with the entire setup.

      @@cccrt Did you consider getting a new bike with the groupset you upgraded to for around $2500-3000? Then your archangel could have been your backup bike.

      @cccrt  Před rokem +1

      @Ricky C actually, I did ending up buying a 12speed Sram with my new bike, and Archangel is on the trainer.....lol!!
      All in all, Archangel is a great practice bike.

    I am just upgrading my 6700 to 8000 instead of changing the bike - is it still good decision? I am not sure but let it be ;)

      I would talk to my bike shop just to make everything is compatible. But you will enjoy the performance of the 11speed. Good luck

      @@zyghom Was the upgrade to the 8000 worth it, was the throw of the shifting improved?

    • @zyghom

      @@jimtro4403 let me say it this way:
      1- now I have 11 speed 11-30 - that is important for me as I used to have 12-30 10 speed - I would prefer 11-32 probably as I live in hilly area
      2- this one is completely new vs 10y old or so so some improvement here as well
      3- the grips/shifters are way better then on old one
      4- I paid around 300 for the upgrade so that is also a positive factor
      Would I do it again? YES OF COURSE!
