Presentation of Signed Agreements 4/22/2024

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, witnessed the exchange of nine (9) Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) signed between the Philippines and the State of Qatar in a ceremony at the President’s Hall, Malacañan Palace on 22 April 2024.
Several Cabinet Members and their counterparts from the State of Qatar exchanged the following agreements:
1. Agreement on the Waiver of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Special/Official Passports;
2. MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Sports;
3. MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Youth;
4. MOU on Cooperation in Combating Human Trafficking;
5. MOU on Technical Cooperation and Capacity Building on Climate Change;
6. MOU in the Fields of Tourism and Business Events;
7. MOU on Mutual Recognition of Seafarer’s Certificates;
8. MOU between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry;
9. MOU between the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Philippines and Qatar formally established diplomatic ties on May 5, 1981. Since then, more than 270,000 Filipinos employed in various sectors and industries in Qatar have collectively contributed to the economic vibrancy and dynamism of the peninsula.
