  • Commemoration Ceremony of the 10th Anniversary of the Signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro
Municipality of Barira, Maguindanao del Norte
    April 29, 2024
As testament of the Administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conflict-free Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the 10th anniversary celebration of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) at Camp Iranun, formerly known as Camp Abubakar as-Siddique, in the Municipality of Barira, Maguindanao del Norte on 29 April 2024.
During the event, President Marcos Jr. offers a wreath at the Marine Warrior Memorial to honor the courage and sacrifices of the 53 fallen marines, soldiers and combatants during the all-out war in 2000, known as the Central Mindanao Campaign.
The Chief Executive also turns over the certificate of availment to 785 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program amounting to PhP3 million.
This year’s celebration, dubbed ‘CAB: Isang Dekada Tungo sa Mapayapa at Masaganang Bangsamoro,’ revisits the historic grounds of Camp Abubakar which served as a poignant backdrop to the ravages of the all-out war in the year 2000 as the first Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) camp and residence of MILF founder Ustadz Salamat Hashim.
Hosting the anniversary at Camp Abubakar underscores the milestones achieved in the Bangsamoro Region, symbolizing a genuine healing and reconciliation for the future generations of Bangsamoro, with peace serving as the foundation for sustainable and inclusive development.
Today, Camp Abubakar houses the 1st Marine Brigade Headquarters; on January 23 of this year, the Master Development Plan for the site was officially launched, outlining a comprehensive strategy to transform the former MILF camp into a peaceful, progressive and resilient community.
