  • Kyoto State Guest House started a new project to commemorate the inscription of “Japan’s traditional wooden architectural techniques” on the list of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2020. In this series, students will introduce the traditional artisanal techniques that are utilized in Kyoto State Guest House through video clips.
The third theme is “Shitsugei” (Lacquer Art). Students from Kyoto Women’s University will introduce its techniques and charms.
Kyoto State Guest House is open to the public throughout the year. “Shitsugei” featured in the video can be seen in all the rooms that are open to visitors on the guided tours.
