I think it might be unintentional, which just makes it funnier to me. I think the characters are programmed to match her gaze like they're having a conversation, but since her head is bouncing up and down, they have to bop to keep up.

I find it so ironic that we all thought Kieran was the one possessed by Pecharunt. As it turns out, he literally was the only one who WASN’T under its control. I’m almost certain the developers did that intentionally as a red herring.
Or just to spite the leakers who thought they were so smug about it.
There is one thing though. Remember when the Loyal Three was revived right after Kieran punched the monument? Look closely at his fist and a smudge of the same aura as the "Mochi People" is shown on his fist right when he punched it
That's the main theme of scarlet and violet as a whole: reversing expectations, heck, it's possible the next game of the series isn't related at all with unova, and Game Freak is just trolling us...
To be fair, there are signs that he was slightly influenced by him.
The moment he first starts lashing out the camera moves out of it's way to show Pecharunt in the shot. When he punches the wooden post at the Loyal Three monument, his fist lets off the same purple "smoke" that the posessed in the pilogue are constantly exuding, and then in the official main artwork for Indigo Disk, you can also see that purple smoke around his fist.
Dunno if this is meant to show that his more edgy attitude was, in part, induced by Pecharunt, or if it's part of a plotline that was cut.
I mean it's a welcome one. I like that Kieran's start of darkness, resulting downfall and eventual redemption was all part of a character development arc where he starts with insecurities and jealousy, is pushed to a point where he allows said problems to consume him, and has to be taught the hard way that he's being harmful to others and himself and eventually realizing that he messed up big time and actively tries to stop the problem his misguided actions have caused in the first place. It makes Kieran a surprisingly deep and dynamic character and an interesting rival with emotional issues who both serves the role of "friendly rival" and "mean rival" at different points of his character arc.
To make him "possessed" and thus strip him of agency and deny him his accountability and realization of his wrongs would just cheapen his storyline.
I like that Arvan and Penny's dances are slightly different to the others. Arvan doesn't flap his arms and moves his legs very little, while Penny's is more energetic and she remixes it with doing double knee kicks instead of alternating knee kicks.

Nemona’s mind control is funny to me personally, because its one of two things. Either her love for battle is strong enough it somewhat overrides the brainwashing, or even better yet, she is willing to let herself get mind controlled if it meant she’d be made to fight people.
I find both options hilarious and in character.
PS Nemona and Penny were kinda cute hypnotized. Penny in particular I found oddly endearing, seeing how she was REALLY into the dance.
You can see Arven mochi dance much slower than the rest. It's because he's too embarrassed about it. As for Penny, her obsession with Eevees manage to resist somehow. Three of player friend seem to be strong enough to resist it. Nemona for obvious battle lust easily overide it

Nemona being unaffected for the most part, Arven not being able to dance, then Penny putting up no resistance to the mind control and dance were all genius decisions. I got a good laugh out of Pecharunt not being able to control Nemona.
nemona seems to have thought she was having a dream, so part of me wonders if she could've wrested control back at any moment. she just chose not to bc she was having fun

I kind of wonder if Carmine was one of the first victims because her Sinistcha is a counter to Pecharunt's power.
She must've gotten the mochi from her grandmother, who may have been possessed BEFORE Carmine. She was giving away a whole tray of them
Now that you mention it, it would make sense for Hideko to have been patient zero. Carmine isn’t exactly the most outgoing person in the game and probably would get more suspicious than enticed by a strange plate of purple mochi.
Penny being the one that is dancing most energetically is very cute to be for a reason

Fun fact! The Mochi Mayhem event shares a number of similarities with the real-life dancing plague of 1518 which had occurred in Alsace (modern-day France). In both cases:
1) Both involved mass outbreaks of spontaneous, uncontrollable dancing.
2) Both events were caused by food poisoning (Binding Mochi for Mochi Mayhem, and theorized ergot for the dancing plague).
3) And a woman was the first known afflicted person (Carmine, from what we know, for Mochi Mayhem, and Frau Troffea for the dancing plague).
Now that's a big nice fun fact!

I did the mochi mochi dance in front of my cat and he was totally scared.
Seriously this epilogue didn't disappoint it's just a shame it's the end cuz this game although his flaws are probably onevof my favorite since a long time. My top 3 of pokemon game are
1st place: pokemon black 2
2nd place: pokemon Scarlet-Violet
3rd place: pokemon legends: Arceus
Nice top, I admit that despite the bugy quality and graphics, Scarlet and Violet are among the best games in the series, Violet is the first game since Black 2, and Heartgold and Platinum before it that really caught me and I played for more than 200 hours four having good content and offering nice experiences, Legends: Arceus is up there too for having a great plot and being so different to the rest of the main games, but I ended the game and caught Arceus in less than 100 hours but still is without doubt among the bests.

This may have been based off the Dancing Plague of 1518, it was a phenomenon in which an entire village broke out in dance, but it was no party, the people were not in control of themselves. Nobody knows what caused it, a modern day theory suggests it may have been a fungus in the bread they ate

The fact that Nemona was still kinda herself while under that Pecha Berry-shaped bastard's curse is really unnerving. Like, it's nice that she was able to keep some of her normal battle-crazy characteristics, but it's still kinda freaky.

That dance is somehow both creepy/terrifying and utterly hilarious at the same time. Reason I finally decided to pick the game up again so I could get the DLC.
What i like is that the cutscene with arven and penny dancing doenst have arvens embarasses shuffle or penny's 110% chicken dance, implying that the devs thought of it afterwards.

Kinda feel sorry for Carmine. While everyone was doing this for a single night, but Carmine, by the subtext, looks to have been doing this for a few days. Doing the chicken dance is exhausting for a few hours, but Carmine looked to have been doing it so much she collapsed from exhaustion.

The epilogue was so much fun to play through. The music and story were amazing. However, after seeing today's lore video about Pecharunt, I feel kind of conflicted. Pecharunt has been hibernating for maybe hundreds of years, having lost all it cared for. Now I can imagine it wants to have some fun, but also wants to be loved, as his caretakers are not alive anymore.
Image if the roles were reversed. The player being the one cursed and since they can technicaly beat everybody the group is stuck with the chiken dancing protag.

My reaction to seeing Carmen do the chicken dance for the first time: "What in Arceus' name has gotten into Carmine???" 😱
One unintended side effect of this Mochi Dance is that, as all NPCs and the player character are coded to look directly into the eyes of the person they're interacting with, everyone looking at Carmine is nodding to the beat of the music because Carmine's eyes move up and down while she dances. Even Kieran is nodding as he approaches her. Love that.
FUN FACT: that song that plays in the background is partially inspired by the Ghost Busters theme song. PARTAILLY!

As a French player, i didn't understand why they say "Kibi", and the result, a kid that was with me when i played said "Skibidi" instead of "Kibi". 🫠

In italian is "kikì" maybe a reference to how in italy we say the cry of the chicken "chicchiricchi". I would have prefered if they just said "mochi mochi".
