- This is a fan made not-for-profit motion comic. Originally published in July, 1992 by Dark Horse comics. If you enjoyed this, check out The Northman Nightmare, Questionable Research, and Volume 1. I hope to have Eternal Vows finished by the end of 2017.

The problem I have about these cómics, is that the Thing is in a forest, around a lot of animals.. sheeps, birds, etc, if the Thing wants to, it could escape easily
Zoan Blair himself said that if just one cell escaped, it would "infect everything on the face of the earth, and nothing could stop it". Note he said "everything", not "everyone". In time every human, every animal, every bird, every fish, every insect, and even every microbe on earth would have been infected. Btw, in Carpenter's movie, the impression is given that the dog-thing went into action almost immediately after Clark had put it in the kennel, but it had actually waited until late at night when it figured everyone was asleep. It was only pure luck Mac was up grabbing himself a beer and heard the commotion. Otherwise the crew would've woke up the next day with a whole kennel full of dog-things with no one the wiser.

Why do people think of a Thing simply touches you, you are infected? If that was the case, why didn’t the assimilated dog just go around and lick everyone?

There was a cancelled horror game called Redwood Falls that looked similar to The Thing. A bloody shame it died.

I meant a game. Someone should make a game a completely new one. Maybe basing it off in The North or southern part of the world, near the North or South poles, but south America might be a good one, or maybe an Oil Rig out in the Ocean.

Many thanks I never finished the comic series , my local shop closed , and I lost the habit when my twins came along . I think ill fire up the old PS 2 and take another crack at the video game .
This really needs to be adapted. Honestly it's the "true" sequel to the thing at least in my eyes.
its a good book but i prefer the story to the game mainly because its stuck in the arctic still. If the thing got anywhere near a jungle then the story is pretty much over as it could infect everything in sight.

This was just great, perfect sound effects and awesome narration. And the twist!.... I did not realise it would be a direct continuation of the other comic, I am glad I re-watched the others again. Now looking forward to Eternal Vows, hopefully ready by the winter.
Eternal vows was awful... The thing wasn't even acting like the thing.

Bone Daddy My theory exactly. If it consumed all life on earth...then what? It starves and dies. My guess is that it was just trying to leave too.
SEaster IslanderS It would have maybe built a ship to leave Earth after it had infected enough life forms here to ensure worldwide infection, though I suppose it wouldn't have needed to stick around to see it to completion. Its function may have been just to start the infection process on a planet then move on to look for other inhabited planets.

It's weird seeing Child-Thing talking and laughing and acting like an evil bad guy. I always saw the Thing in the Carpenter movie as more of an animal than a villain. I always just kind of thought that it didn't enjoy what it did. It wasn't hateful or mean-spirited. It was just something that preyed on other creatures, and humans were simply on its menu. Like how humans who eat meat generally don't have any problems with the animals they're eating; they just taste good and nourish our bodies is all. In the movie Things only ever talked as a way of concealing their identity; once their cover was blown they wouldn't bother talking anymore.
DoctorPorkenfries my guess is, this particular thing had a vendetta. And animals typically don't use spaceships so I always thought the thing was purposefully infiltrating our world.
The spaceship that crashed on Earth didn't belong to the Thing-it crashed after the Thing broke out of its enclosure (it was being held captive, although it's unknown if it was as a prisoner or captive animal/specimen.) The Thing assimilated the alien crew, which would've given it knowledge of spaceships if it didn't have that knowledge already, allowing it to attempt building one later as Blair-Thing.
DoctorPorkenfries yeah the story kind of weakens as it goes. Great lengths are made to keep Mcready alive. Plus it seems way easier to just test someone's hair instead of their blood.
Meh I just pretend everything that's happened after John carpenters the thing is non canon, so all these comics can open up new possibilities with the thing without harming the source material.

It tends not to talk when it's of using on attacking but sure it can talk when it's pretending to be normal
That was really interesting.I love the thing movie and the prequel was pretty good. I never knew there were comics/fanfics of it too. my compliments to the cast, creators and voice actors.
I just noticed something interesting. In the panel when Childs first appears, his image is entirely red while the soldiers around him are all blue. Either its because he's standing so close to the fire or it's a subtle hint that he's infected. Mac is red too but that's probably because of his own proximity to the fire or that he's the main protagonist, I don't know.

Nick Frost The one I'm currently recording has Macready as a hero in New Zealand. It's called Eternal Vows, and should be done by the end of the year.

Awesome voice acting and sound design! The music and cues are also well done. There are nice meta moments (when the crew is looking for MacReady because he can speak without an accent), which made me laugh.

Man I’ve seen bits and pieces of this before but now I’m having the chance to watch it all in order. You guys are doing great with this motion comic conversion. I loved the first movie that was released ever since i was a kid and was kind of let down that the latest installment was just the prequel to the old one, but i still enjoyed it. It gave us some insight as to what happened once the space ship was discovered. I hope that they make a sequel pretty soon that follows somewhat alongside the follow up comics that’ve been released. Could provide us with at least another two films if done right.

Nice production values on this motion comic. Good job! My only problem is with the story itself. If the Thing had gotten to land it wouldn't have bothered to even mess with the human population at all. It would have made much more sense to silently slip into the JUNGLE and taken over all the wildlife. There would quickly be so much infected bio-mass that it would have been impossible to stop.
Hope there will be a Virgin Gary VS Chad Agapito meme in the future.

This is easily my favorite of the lot of comics, because it's the closest to being a decent sequel. It has some issues, like why it isn't trying to escape with bird life or sea life, but it's a sore sight better than Volume one. Also definite improvement on your side in voice work.

Man or lady, I REALLY LIKE THESE AUDIO/RADIO DRAMAS! Reminds me of my childhood and the outer limits radio dramas. It fills that spot when you do not want to read or watch TV. It's a movie for your mind. Plz plz make more. Thank you.

I love that because we dont see the entire surrounding wildlife infected in the comic, the people in this comments section piss and moan that "the comic is terrible" because we didnt see it happen. Its a comic, not a novel. The entire franchise holds details back, even the prequel did. It's meant to be ambiguous and not tell every single detail. That is why the original was so good. Just enjoy the fucking comic instead of acting like you peons could make a better one.
