- This is a fan made not-for-profit motion comic. The Thing From Another World: Questionable Research was published in 1993 by Dark Horse comics. Climate of Fear will be available in February, 2017. Northman Nightmare and Volume 1 are now available.
I like that they know what it is, yet the only thing they do to contain it is put a blanket over it
yea i found that part very strange you'd think knowing you're dealing with something that can infect and change someone by something as simple as touch you'd have on bio suits and stuff even with that you'd be careful and try and not mess with it
"Hey we found an existential threat. It's contained where it is, but we should definitely bring it back for study."
A bold play, Cotton. Let's see how it works out.
In all homesty, if the thing infected a fly or mosquito earth would be doomed
gabbagundam that would be super scary!!!!!
@Forsaken Pumpkin true, since the Climate of Fear the series are all fcked, makes the monster are so overpowered by how easy they're adapting and infecting the victim.
I mean... that's the case in the movie (not so much the comics)
It's part of the reason Blair realizes they can't let the Thing get out of the area
@@samanderson5774 Thats why the comics dont work for me, unless the thing was just fuking with the humans while secretly infecting the world.
Same
...Admittedly this one comic also seems to go by that logic, give it that.
I love that part where Karl walks in on the Arlene thing. “I’m sorry Karl, it was supposed to be a surprise.”
Mais se ele não estivesse chegado a tempo provavelmente a coisa iria escapar através da nave que ele criou
BUT I GUESS YOU BLEW IT DIDN'T YOU!!!!!!😡😡😂😂
i like how the thing has polite conversations with the people its about to absorb.
I think I prefer the creatures not talking when they transform. Sure, talking helps them blend in, but talking after attacking gives them the appearance of having a logical mind.
Not talking makes them seem that language was only used for cover, and that they are indeed thinking on a much different level.
Well they can use language to manipulate our emotions too . Like saying " I love you " while they transforme and kill you hahahaha
I kind of agree, its especially odd in Eternal Vows where you have that semi love story between two Things. Climate of Fear is probably my fav in that regard, just enough talking but not over the top where it humanizes The Thing. In the movies, When the Thing transforms its in full survival mode and it just *GOES* lol. Also Macready is such a badass in Climate of Fear. On the other hand, I think the idea of people still retaining bits of there consciousness while being taken over is pretty terrifying, as if there's still a piece of your friend in there feeling every second of it screaming out to end the suffering. Feeling every violent contortion, every bone twist and snap, the things form rending and tearing your flesh, then finally burning to death. *That* is terrifying.
I do wonder, if the thing took over the world what would happen then? Would it stay in human form and talk? Or turn into something else and chill?
Of course The Thing has a logical mind. That was a bad choice of words. But I know what you mean. Talking makes The Thing too human.
@@user-zg3om3uv7r Ya, better way to word it would be, as soon as they talk like a human by nature, that foreign feeling leaves and they just become a human with monster skin.
This comic book hit the stores years before the Resident Evil games did and there's little difference between the scientists here and those of Umbrella.
Dude: Good, I finally killed the thing...
The thing (bird): Yeah, you sure have buddy.
Dude: Wait a minute... I thought I killed you?!
The thing (bird): lol, yeah you thought you have. Anyway, I gotta go. There's more life to infect. Seeya!~
Dude: Nooooooooo!
"Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!"
"Hooper, I don't feel so good."- this comic was ahead of it's time lol 😂.
The bird wasn't a thing.He's just paranoid
@@Shoegazebasedgenre0. Thats kinda the point, who knows what is and is not alien? It's the main fear from every thing novel. Is it paranoia or a genuine threat etc
@@Shoegazebasedgenre0. Didn't the bird's eyes turn red right before him? That is a sure sign!
hooper is the best because he's like the character in the first movie; he's smart and understands the danger this organism can cause to the world, nay the whole universe
Douglas is like the Albert Wesker of The Thing.
Y’know, when Hooper says “This is your fault”, it’s not really true. Hooper was the one to break the finger off of the thing, thereby allowing it to thaw out and come back as a new organism. He was always preaching about “being careful”, when he himself was the one to actually doom them all to this fate. It wasn’t deliberate of course, but it still killed them all and made the thing spread out to the world.
Hopper is the voice of reason
Wow this is so much better than that ridiculous hunt for Childs comic
I know the trust issues between a group is the best thing in The Thing, but a series were the world was successfully invaded by The Thing might be a good comic
my god those eyes at 11:22 - 11:24
When it talk after changing it made me think that that it is intelligent and perfers to kill its prey before infecting
I think it my be sympathetic.
Bubby the Buck Perhaps it learned sympathy from assimilating so many people?
Wow, I had no idea someone had dramatized this. Quite cool!
It’s definitely accurate, but it kind of sucks that every continuation ends in The Thing Escaping into the world
Not everyone of these non Canon continuation
Toward the end of the original story, "who goes there": "The remaining men go to test the isolated Blair and on the way see the first albatross of the Antarctic spring flying overhead; they shoot the bird to prevent a Thing from infecting it and flying to civilization."
The ending here was a nice call back, closing the circle if you will.
3:52 This scene reminds me of the creature scenes in that 1989 movie: Leviathan
9:17 Best scene and dialog
It would be morbidly funny if that was just an ordinary seagull at the end with Douglas and left thinking “Welp, I don’t have the time for these loons raving on about planetary assimilation!”
The sea gull in the end of the comic became the thing too, as Douglas tries to kill the bird but it flew away, if i where you i would burn the rat from the beginning than turning into one of them.
Impressive, good job !
Citron Thanks. Volume 1, Climate of Fear, and The Northman Nightmare are available as well.
I saw that, i've already read both of them but i'm currently watching the Northman Nightmare you're done.
If even a single bird is infected than the entire world is screwed
Did the bird-thing taunt that guy at the end?
The other interesting thing is that the thing doesn't seem to actually want to assimilate all life in earth. It seems to want to get to the size and complexity to construct a spacecraft and leave.
There must be some objective we're not clear about then. Perhaps it has a cache of space-age weapons somewhere or a vendetta to fulfill.
@@McCbobbish maybe it just want to go home?
@@McCbobbish yeah, kinda like in the original movie this is based on.
Thanks for posting this and other motion comics of The THINGGGGG! I Truly enjoyed it, hope to see more Motion Comics too come 👍👍🎥🎞️
This comic is 10x better than Eternal Vows it actually feels like the writer's actually saw the movie and focused on the important moments even though they get one or two details wrong from the movie
When she said" i tried to do this the easy way Douglas", it reminds me of lumpy space princess from adventure time.
Holy shit that was intense ! Bravo!!
3k hours and earth is doomed..
Thankyou so much for these, great stuff! :D
still awesome even the second time around
These are great comics!!
its interesting that the thing is capable of speech a rather nice detail :3
Basically one of the best the thing sequel that non canon, even tho this is like the 4th book
We got more thing then basically Pybus infected, then i think some how the pilot was always infected then Erskine got infected, then child’s got infected, then infected a sea lion the reason why deseado got infected, then infected josito,Cruz,Escobar and more
yee...descovering something looking like either a desease causing extremle body destortions and rabbid aggresiveness..or a extremly aggresive viral inffestation from an instellation that got obliderated due to contanimation....and you lift the remnant you found by hand with not inffection and hostile activety counter messures on standby ,and ontop of that you take it from the one thing that might be what is keeping it docile into a temperate transportation.
...sighs..... for all the cute horror ,even normal people would be smart enugh to imedietly put a 24/ survelance on the ground zero location and put the research in the center in the very super cold climate being its one apparent disadvantage with several failsafe messures in place beffore even contenplateing to thawing a single cell of it for any research purpuses...or even better hold research in favor of makeing a none terestal researchs station on the moon with potentialy a few backup cold stasis site b and simply makeing a research base that only whre allowed to operate with dubble failsafe nukeliar messures ensureing that even a small contanamation break is ..sterelized.. and research only resumed with a new sample if a new site with the same failsafe messures and personal understanding of the severity is constructed.
Interesting ideas, but I would imagine that once and infected person has 'popped' they would never speak. Speech required human brain structure. Once the thing abandons human form, the thing brain cells would just forget all human knowledge. Any vestige of the person assimilated would cease to exist.
bukster1 That's something that always bothered me in the comics but it was always a cool concept.
I mean once infected they seem to be able to still speak, so why not be able to speak even after they break form.
My main problem with the concept was that it sort of took away from the scary factor, it would be much more scary if the thing would just screech and come at you but not talk than it would be if it taunted you and spoke in perfect english while having that really creepy alien look.
Taunting the next victim also implies malice. The Thing is a creature of instinct. It clearing has some intelligence, some of it from its victims. It wants to infect you. It has no motive to want to make fun of you before doing it.
If it talks after abandoning guise, it is less a *_thing_* and more a boogeyman coming out of hiding. Scary, but only half as much as a thing, that offers no countable POV or definable entity for you to predict from whether it can or can't spare you ... something completely alien to our sentience.
That doesn't make sense. The Thing is supposed to have access to all the creatures it has assimilated in its journey. A human brain isn't much different. In fact you might even say that the Thing has accumulated knowledge! The Thing just might not have enough cellular material at the time to form a human brain. In a BTS documentary a FX guy said that the original plan was it to take on more alien forms to signify its journey through space. (My fav was the giant fist smashing through a barricade)
Did the comics ever cover The Thing's origin? For example, could it have been a biological weapon from another galaxy that inevitably consumed it dry all it's potential life before traversing the universe or was it a product of a fucked up step in evolution in some distant world?
That was awesome. Keep up the content just discovered you guys and loving it. Kinda disappointed that this comic ended so quickly, felt pretty rushed after they got on the boat, but still a great short story. Love the open ending, honestly guessing as to whether or not that seagul was the thing or if its just his new found paranoia
Oh it's a Thing, it's open ended whether it was stopped before we reach the apocalyptic threshold.
6:19 Thanos' snap got to her too??!
Hooper is the bomb
That intro is way more frightening than The Thang
Birb wins. Fatality.
No containment pod, handling these samples with bare hands, heaven's sake, what the heck are these morons doing!? I wouldn't touch that thing without a Level 4 Bio suit and a nuclear weapon primed to detonate at the slightest hint of a problem!
Also what the heck was in that flare gun?
Questionable Research indeed!
Cielo Pachirisu
At least the research station in the BBC audio adaptation of Who Goes There ? (the original story) had an isolation lab and remote tools. However, they didn't get the chance to use them (the Thing awakened while it was thawing out).
Don't forget, in this lab: Morals aren't welcome.
*I DON'T REMEMBER THE ALIEN EVER ACTUALLY TALKING WHEN IT REVEALS ITSELF.*
Rebel Alliance Hello, Childs-Thing from The Thing: Climate of Fear?
+ROBLOX Noob Productions
Oh shit! You right.
The thing"why do you all keep fighting me for huh....you can't win...I'm here on the planet now baby.....and I'm gonna come inside you all.....that right...I'm gonna come really deep inside of you...and if you try to struggle I'm will hold you down and come inside you that way...and it won't be pleasant....mmmmmh"
Ayo? Wtf is wrong with you man?
12:11 that's an edited burp 😂😂😂😂
I like these because The Thing talks!
7:39-7:50 smart man
I like the comic version more, I've always wondered why they never made the thing grow to communicate or taunt people.
13:24 “Ree?” Lmfao😂
hmm i wonder if you just let the thing finish it's ship if it will fly back home...maybe that is all it wants
theomegawerty Why take the chance?
+Dylan Higgins Welp, you'd think by now something that dangerous would have already assimilated an entire species, and created its own armada of ships, and went on a rampage. But it didn't. Why?
Answer: *It's running away from something.* There's always a bigger fish; ain't got no time to conquer the human race!
Edit: Could it be running away from itself? As in, somehow it has separated itself from the collective?
What if it is making a vehicle to travel to the mainland? It might want some more creatures to assimilate.
@@Dom_C7591 in that case a starship is bit of a overkill isnt it? It would be alot easier to build a boat or a plane. Maybe even just steal a vehicle of some sort than going to space
@@Kenshiroit in the movie the Helicopter was destroyed early when the realization of what the thing is was realized.
Don,t touch friend is effective the thing alien burning!
Nice job everyone 😁
jinkies, marian looks and sounds like velma
Hooper has a bit more than just a little sugar in his tank... 😅
Welp that sums it up everyone dies in the end like any god damn horror genre movie 😔
Cgchua3300 Eternal Vows is coming soon. Wait til the end of that one!
9:58
Not that different from the vehicle Blair-Thing built in the movie.
Awesome...
THIS right here, is why idiot scientist will be the end of us all.
You can thank Dr. Fucci for that.
If he can even be called a doctor of a sorts.
4:01 imagine this shit trying to climb up your leg
It seems like they weren't careful enough
5:57 well, it took about six months for Corona to become worldwide.
Going by this comic, the only way for humanity to save all life on earth would be to develop a sort of fighting germ that will combat the alien cell by cell and make all life immune to being vulnerable to the Thing cells. Sorta like a vaccine against an alien organism.
As nihilistic as the Thing is, I still like to imagine that humanity was eventually able to defeat this monstrosity once and for all.
It's one thing to take a vaccine in a comic book, but in real life a vaccine is suppose to go through rigorous tests. And that could take from 5 to 15 years. Now you can get one in a year and a half lol. Thanks Dr. Fucci.
I'm afraid the thing would find a way to get around the anti-thing vaccine
I just realized Douglas could be infected. When he met his wife, she grabbed his hand (see here at 12:43), and here we see she's been infected (13:04 - 13:08). It's only a matter of time...
When they transform their voice box is altered , so they should not be able to speak very well. Seems like once they transform they don’t transform back very well.
Is an special special to.
Where did the scientist chick go through? The one that had been carrying out the experiments.
It's missing a the thing theme song
Sad ending
If only they would have explained about the inside x-ray🩻 skeleton anatomy from ‘The Thing’ alien monsters by Stephen King.
Hooper was right.
Great Voice Inflexions MINUS
MARION'S who sounded like SIRI Version 1: Hello. I. Am. Siri. Look. Out. The. Thing. Is. Behind. You. Time. Is. 2:34pm.
1 Bad Jesus Haha yeah, she's a stoner! I like it, not everyone has smooth cadence :) Thanks for watching.
slowmutants keep em up man! we know you don't do videos for $ but for LOVE of the material an they're time consuming to make but just know ya got a legion of fans..countless MORE than those who choose to subscribe!👍🤘🖖
Thanks! 💨
I'm suppperr, thanks for asking...
awesome are there any more comics like this?
heather lewis Yes! Volumr 1 and The Northman Nightmare are now available, and I'm currently working on Climate of Fear.
Ohhh my favorite one. Im just watching vol 1 and already watched the northman nightmare. Your work is awesome, the acting is brilliant.
Many thanks!
i liked macready sad he died and the THING surived in the comic
Yo! Watch em all! He LIVES!
@@slowmutants i mean he was stranded on the new zeelander isle with a shit ton of The things while. the fish the thing escaped. either he swims to the other isle or find a boat i guess and sail to australia hunting the fish?
Scribe Haylen?
i think the things being able to talk while in flight ofr fight makes it better (i only said that cause it makes it less scary for me cause im a pussy when it comes to horror)
When I we going to get a movie sequel to the Thing? There was a prequel but it so-so.
George A The Thing game is the sequel
Why don't you imagine how the story continues, write up your own treatment and put it on youtube.
8:00 Never go Full Mengele
Where is that intro from?
Harley Quinn's Epic Rape Face I filmed that in '06. The Slow Mutants is my production company.
8:59 lol
This comic is a disaster compared to the others. Still worth listening though, great narration.
How did he know the bird was infected
That moment you realize that even Douglas got infected by Barbara at 12:43 . Thats what she meant by the "easy way." So I'm guessing he might have felt a connection to it. also the red eyes...
And two the bird was not afraid of him
it's a dub mistake ehre, I think that the bird made a frog noise bcz the bird made the sound "scree" first then 'kroak", but it is dubbed like the bird made that sound twice instead of once
The Thing from Another World: Eternal Vows, incase you're interested
Maglevspiritualgeek Been workin on it. It's hard to find authentic Kiwi accents, or people close to imitate it.
1. The Thing in the beginning has its natural colors like from the movie. Then it ends up purple like in Eternal Vows.🤔
2. In this they use no fire to burn it, but ice to freeze it. Totally opposite🙄
3. Does this take place before Eternal Vows???
Keeper Protector Thanks for the comment! This takes place BEFORE Eternal Vows, which was published in 1994. This was '93. I am 80% finished with EV at the moment. I should be done with it by February!
slowmutants Wow cool. Thanks, can't wait to see them😄 Im sorry for replying late😬
This plot is isolated from the eternal vows/climate of fear timeline
The thing true weakness is a freezing temperature and not flames, how? Watch the movie the thing 90's one, when they got a mergred body the thing is not yet alive when it got warmer the blood or cells begin to separate and find a new body.
Freezing hibernates the thing they wanted to put it to sleep
Is this canon? When does it take place?
In the comic book universe, yes, which is an extension of the cinematic universe. After Carpenter's The Thing, it would go Volume 1, Climate of Fear, and Eternal Vows for the Macready saga. Questionable Research and Northman Nightmare are one-offs.
@@slowmutants Oh I see thanks for the info!
Yooo Kat Kitzmiller sounds hot af
Bahahah thanks babe!
How flattering! Hope you make lots of cash and find personal satisfaction doin voiceovers and stuff! ( *^___^*);;
i should stop watching these......i need to sleep @.@

何と言うのか判りませんが、このシリーズ、アメコミを実写音声化するっていう、も少し効果音に凝れば良いのになあ!と思いました。
What's this say in English???
I wish I could focus on sound effects a little!
Bunch of amateurs....how did they even got authorization to do this, its a mystery for me.
Bad Judgement?
Good god, this is awful. Not the video, the comic. The characters are idiots, the Thing is cheesy, and the dialogue is rough.
