    Hello.
Came across this comment on vitamin B -comments please- There actually is a difference between getting omega-3s from fish and seaweed or getting them from various plants. The difference is that you won't get the 20-22 carbon fatty acids from flax, walnuts, etc. (their fatty acids will be 18 carbon long). This potentially matters because the chemistry that omega-3s (eicosanoid biosynthesis, etc.) starts out with these longer chains; and, though we do have the enzymes to add carbons a couple at a time, the conversion is extremely rate limited.
Another question to ask might be whether that conversion step to the longer chain is rate limited for a reason and whether we actually need so much of the final product that we need these marine sources in the first place, but that's another kettle of fish (see what I did there?).

But since lifespan has improved by 20 years in the last 50 years and 5 years in the last 10 years, mathematically at that rate it's already improving by 1 year per year and will keep improving at an icreasing rate. I avoid pancreatitis by taking pancrease (enzymes) and ox bile so the pancrease and gall bladder don't have to work as hard. I have been doing this for about 30 years after being diagnosed with fat malabsorption (brought on by 2 years of eating a pound a day white bagels, crackers or bread while teaching 12 credit and taking 15 credits. Which caused a nutritional deficiency and probably some sort of over growth).

Seems like you might have lacked K and/or Mg. I've been trying high dose B1 for neuropathy, erythromelalgia & MCAS, based on the Elliot Overton/Lonsdale/Marrs school of thought & have noticed a difference despite that fact that I had been taking a B complex containing lots of thiamine HCl for over a year. I 1st tried benfotiamine and was amazed at how quickly I improved in neuropathy symptoms, but had sides suggesting increase in prolactin. I stopped taking it, waited for a while, then and tried to build up Mg levels and after a week of that I started taking TTFD. So far so good. The foods you listed all have a lot of oxalates - so that's interesting. It seems like oxalates might be beneficial to some ppl - Okinawans have a very high oxalate diet, for example. I have to be careful with them since I get kidney stones. Amla has the highest concentration of oxalates, I think it even beats out rhubarb.@@murraybrockway6540

Search for studies with serum spermidine as opposed to dietary spermidine. There is also a study which mentions higher serum levels and MCI and Alzheimer's. There seems to be an enzyme which converts spermidine into spermine. Perhaps the health problems result from inadequate spermine rather than too much spermidine.

"Peanut butter doesn't work" This may be because peanut butter production in the USA typically removes the germ from the peanut (on the basis that it causes headaches in some people, I was told). Eating actual peanuts includes the germ. Could this be the only difference? I'd like to see someone study this. My daughter and I have celiac conditions, so wheat germ is off the menu, and there are hardly any other germ products I can find. Peanut germ might be a way to get the benefits without the calories of peanuts. Please look into it???

Any advice for acid reflux on a low fat, chocolate, caffeine, spicy food diet following traumatic injury and formation of hiatus hernia at a healthy bodyweight? Did all the things but it's still refluxing:'(

Digestive enzyme supplements with betaine HCL and ox bile. Acid reflux will be gone in a day or two and your fat metabolism will be very happy even without a gall bladder.

You don't want to do the carnivore diet because diabetic, kidney, cardiac, dementia and auto immune drugs are big pharma and big sugar's bread and butter.

The main cause of elevated liver enzymes is a high carb diet. Even moderate added sugar can cause a fatty liver even in children. And if you have a fatty liver oxidised and glycated LDL cannot be recycled by the liver and that's when a high carb diet causes arterial plaque. Fatty liver disease is virtually non existent in low catb diets.

Two things that are never really addressed is how hard it is to get the RDA of choline (you gotta eat a lot of cruciferous vegetables) or how much eating a healthy whole food diet blows through the RDA maximum of manganese (esp. if you are eating wild blueberries). He never says either don't worry about getting the RDA of choline or be sure to eat enough cruciferous vegetables to get the RDA. He never says don't worry about blowing through the RDA maximum for manganese, while eating according to his recommendations you will blow through that maximum a lot.

My understanding is that manganese from foods is not a problem, but it is a problem in drinking water - if that's an issue in your area. Manganese in herb tea? Your guess is as good as mine. You are correct about him not addressing choline. Some people also have problems with insufficient carnitine (even though not considered an essential nutrient) - ppl w/ autism & newly diagnosed Celiac pts. I'm not convinced of the TMAO story - see article 'Microbial trimethylamine-N-oxide as a disease marker: something fishy?'
