In general, Hax are overvalued, whilst raw attributes are undervalued. Pain is the only member of Akatsuki that can solo a village (excluding Rinnegan or Six Paths Obito). Let that fact settle in your mind for a moment. The man is capable of waltzing into a village, with thousands of shinobi, dozens of Elite Jonin and a few Kage level opponents (Kage of said village + Jinchuriki) and obliterating it. No one, not Itachi, nor Tobi is able to do that. I recall some youtuber stating that against the 5 Kage, if Pain can take out Oonki--even at the expense of 5 or 6 paths of Pain--with only the Tendo Pain surviving, a Chibaku Tensei is all that is needed to defeat the other four. I share this view: The man has a reasonable shot at defeating the 5 Kages.
I absolutely agree about Pain. Obito is not soloing the leaf without a rinnegan. Pain>Obito. I do think Raikage can probably escape chibaku tensei though. But like you said, without the Particle style, there's no escaping for the others
Technicly speaking one chobaku of refreshed Pein would have been enough to squash ALL of Konoha (save gai ofc)
The only reason Naruto had a chance was that he first fought all of them to gain intel, not to kill. Then blew up the village. Then faced full power Naruto with sage mode refreshes, full intel on all his abilities, pa and ma, the healing snail and 3 giant armed warrior toads.
Pein was down to 5 paths, all drained and recharging with no expirience on full sage mode or rasenshuriken. Still got him pinned in the end, fought up to 8 tails kurama and capturee him in a chibaku. Then suddenly faced refreahed Naruto as basicly empty deva... and still could have won but randomly stands and takes the base naruto being flinged rasengan.
But in a vs rating it always depends. Obito TECHNICLY would just pop up and backstab Nagato cuz he knows better then to fight fair.
An Itachi doesnt know and would get bodied due to the Peins countering everything.
On the other hand Itachi could get Obito with tsykoyumi wich is a unique quiet strong genjutsu wich might be to much for obito. But if so he too would avoid eyecontact and play on extending the fight for Itachi to exhaust his ms and die.

Sasori canonically fought a full powered Orochimaru, with both using the third Kazekage but didn't bring out his 300 puppets that he could have used, and Sasori only died because he wanted to. Sasori definitely leagues above Deidara.
Lol when did that happen "canonically"? If you're talking about episode 457 it's not canon and Oro was just testing out his 3rd Kazekage reanimation. He was never close to going all out lmao. And in Storm 3 cutscene Oro wasn't even taking him seriously, he let Sasori go all out on him with the 3d Kazekage tanked everything and ignored him lol. Later he mocked him. Sasori isn't near Oro's league.
And between Sasori and Deidara, Deidara has the better feats. But he stated that Sasori is stronger so... idk may be Sasori counters him somehow or he just has a lot of respect for Sasori. Deidara's c3 would finish it.

The thing is Sasori again hardcounters Orochimaru just like Pein neutralizes Itachis arsenal.
You can bite, stab and attempt to poison a puppet as much as you want. Unless you figure that pumping heart seal he seems immortal. Besides the way he lost he fought an equal puppeteer and let himself get stabbed by his parent puppets.
Orochimaru plays on suprise boting or stabbing you. His wind abilities or any tools dont affect a puppet. Iron sand included its even tougher to escape or defeat him.
So against most foes Sasori is no joke.

People often forget to note that MASSIVE information asymmetry that existed between Pain and Obito. Pain knew little about the Obito, whilst the Obito knew and was a part-time author in the Nagato's entire biography. This dynamic is ever-present in the narrative and affords Obito more authority and power; masquerading as Madara, also aids him with that objective. Any time Kamui is cracked--even partially--the man almost takes a fat L.
He literally tanked a rasengan twice and dint come close to death…
How does the man take a fat L?
The only fat L we could say he took from Kamui being cracked was against Minato when he was 14. And that was because one touch is all it takes for Minato to mark you, and without that marking Minato wasn't going to be able to release Kurama from his control.
Meanwhile Obito fights Naruto, Bee, Kakashi and Gai at the same time and doesn't take fat L's despite the fact that Kakashi has the literal best counter to Obito's ability and makes his intangibility moot. BTW Naruto is massively stronger at that point than the Sage Naruto that Pein couldn't even damage, and that's not even adding in the assistance Naruto has.
Also, we could say similar things about Pein. If he doesn't have the numbers advantage of the element of Rinnegan surprise then he's taking some fat Ls. Like that time kid Konohamaru beat up one of the Paths of Peins.

To be fair in the end Deva just.. stood around for that final Rasengan when he could have defenately beaten and outlasted that base naruto.
Also Naruro had all the intel on every path, serval sage mode instant refills, pa plus ma and 3 giant warrior toads.
Added to that was that Pein fought the strongest Village zo gain intel, not to kill before he blew up the Village and had to recharge the main path CONVINIENTLY as Naruto arrives fresh and ready.
A full powered Pein is a whoke diffrent story but obitos ability is to op for booth Pein and Itachi to consistqntly counter.
On the other hand Pein rather easily deals with Itachi because his abilities perfectly counter.
-Amaterasu = Absorb/repel. (Corpses can fight burning)
-Genjutsu = visual might not effect the Rinnegan, if it does like Frogsong he seperated 3 paths who can tap the effected path out while also keep Itachi busy.
-Susannoo= The easiestcobstacle. If sand can throw Madara out of his half susannoo a gravity pull is even easier. Idealy have him stuck in chibaku until his sickness kills him.
On the other hand Obito can negate all paths except MAYBE Human paths soul pull givrn it effects something not nessesarily on this "plane" but thats very iffy so forget it for now. But he can easily phase all destructive abilities and even gravity attacks using full Kamui thus he takes this one path at a time. The small chanve is if Pein manages 5 munutes of full coordinated preassure without accidemtly hitting each other and forcing him to keep Kamui up ALL THE TIME for one moment to stab.
Itachi thou can at least in terms of figuring the ability and genjutsu counter Obito. Thou again due to his sickness its also a maybe. But it would be in character for him to figure outca plan to trick Obito for just the moment needed to tsykoyumi and totska as obito has neither the Rinnegan nor other bodies to tap him out. So if hes caught he's caught.
Storywise Obito knows abput all of Itachis abilitoes thou through booth Zetsu and personal spying. While Itacji will have to figure things on the fly while dying.

Y’all talking shit about Konan, but the reality is, her strength can’t be measured cuz she doesn’t have feats. Obito was out of her league, which would apply to most Akatsuki & Sanin level fighters and used Izanagi which no one could’ve predicted. She bet on that prepared jutsu because anyone else would’ve died to it and once he escaped it, she was exhausted. Jiraya was her master and countered her jutsu in a way most other ninja could not. The toad oil bomb is unique and is the perfect counter to stop her from separating into paper.
Now think what any other Sanin level fighter could do to even touch her without getting shredded and exploded 10 times over, while she flies at high speeds and separates into paper at any sign of danger. She’s like Deidara but more elusive, capable of causing explosions on par with anything below C3 with enough paper, she requires less prep to make the bombs and her paper is more versatile than his clay; which puts her at his level even though she doesn’t have the nano-bombs.
It also makes sense that she beat Sasori because her jutsu hard counters his. She can defend against fire, she can’t be cut or stabbed as long as she has chakra (which also means she cant be poisoned) and she can blow up and slice most of his puppets. All while Sasori has to defend against any projectiles, explosives and sneak attacks she attempts. He would basically have to encase himself in iron sand or constantly be on the move while she has full advantage. I still think they are equal in power when it comes to the general roster.
Minato, having seen the ENTIRE fight with the Six Paths of Pain, blatantly states that a weaker version of Obito is flat out stronger than Pain (and no, YM is not>OM, I’ve seen ppl saying this because he “can no longer control the Kyuubi” but fail to realize that’s because it’s locked away inside Naruto, even Edo Madara can’t control the Kyuubi because of the seal). Then an older and more experienced Obito says that the weakest form of Itachi would’ve still killed him had he “known about his secret” (all evidence imo points to Izanagi).
Itachi had willingly chosen to hasten his sickness by no longer taking the medicine that suppressed it and doing things like standing out in the rain to weaken his immune system beforehand. And even despite that he literally had more stamina than HEBI SASUKE, whose stamina was buffed by absorbing Orochimaru. He still scales to his Edo counterpart in physicals, speed, and Susanoo, even his lesser skeletal Susanoo ripped apart Edo Nagato, Totsuka Blade can’t be absorbed, and Amaterasu will just blitz and mow through any Path it hits other than the Preta path as it blitzed Kamui as well as Edo Nagato and actually incinerated his chest. He only woke up because he was an Edo, if that was say the Deva path it’d be GG. So Itachi>Obito>Pain seems pretty definitive to me.
Or maybe he is talking about the fact that he probably got stronger after 15 years not to mention he saw Tobi fighting almost the entire konoha 12 at one point

But Minato never once says “and he probably got stronger too so that’s why I gave you the 9 tails” so he’s just talking about YM Obito. Age doesn’t have much to do with it, we saw that with Haku in part 1.

Its due to taking alive Itachi wich in his Akatsuki days he fought Sasuke was half blind and had his sickness. He still kicked Sasukes ass. But against Pein or Obito its just a diffrent league.
Pein was set up to exhaust himself by fighting the villsge to gain intel not to kill, then blow it up. Then face fully rested Naruto in perfect sage mode with instant refills, pa and ma, all intel on all paths, 3 warrior toads, Hinata, kurama up to 8 tails and then a rested Naruto thanks to Minatos chakra. And he technicly still would have won if he didnt just stand there and took the last rasengan for no real reason. He had enough chakra to revive all of Konoha, so defenately enough to defeat base Naruto. Fully rested Pein with no intel on him is a beast. Especially since he counters Itachis entire kit.
Obito even as orange Mask may be susebtable to tsykoyumi, but as elusive and informed as he is will be able to stall out but still preassure Itachi to sucomb to eiither blindness or exhaustion. Thou one mistake can cost him his life.

Nah his sickness is seperated from the MS overuse blindness.
His sickness also effected his stammina and overall physical abilities. So technicly he was double weakned.
Edo gave him infinite chakra, perfect vision and a infinite stammina.
I don’t like Hidan but I think your underrating him. Furthermore, Hidan also has impressive healing abilities with the greatest example of this being how rapidly he healed from numerous physical injuries he underwent during his battle against Asuma and Shikamaru.Even his burn scars inflicted by Asuma's Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning completely vanished a mere couple of days late. Also he’s more agile than Asuma. Also injuries done to Hidan by Asuma clearly didn’t have the same effect with Asuma unable to stand while Hidan could .Even taking a direct hit from Kakuzu's Wind Release: Pressure did not leave any visible damage on Hidan's body. Hidan is able to take blows others wouldn’t and attack from situations that people would t have the option to because they’d die. He was still dealing with Shikamaru and Asuma at the same time. And the second fight they already knew about his abilities giving them an advantage. I mean he still wins but yeah

My thing is people wanna compare minato and itachi in terms of intelligence and it bugs me. Minato scored higher than itachi on the leafs shinobi test plus he fought obito with a part of kagyous charka. Within seconds he figures out how it works and counters him and defeats him in 1 shot. Itachi knowing obito for decades and has fought alongside him never seemed to figure it out. Food for thought
In terms of intellect Minato is nr 1# Itachi a close second, followed by Tobirama and then Shikamaru.
And it shows in how Minato is fighting and thibking fast. Itachi is smart bit not as smart as Minato is shown to be.

I don’t think its relevant whether Pain wants to fight him or not, if he has to, he will. Also, characters can fear other characters that aren’t out of their power level, its wrong to assume that everyone has a perfect understanding of their power relative to others. For example: Kissame avoiding Jiraya
I do think Obito is faster than Pain and can avoid him all day, but Pain has all of that time to think of a way to tag him and he doesn’t even need to use chakra exhausting abilities like Shibaku Tensei. I don’t think Nagato is dumber than Naruto nor that much less intelligent than Kakashi, at least not enough to never figure out how Obito’s abilities work.
Jiraya implied he's actually a genius of his own. He stated "He mastered every chakra nature and jutsu i could teach him at the age of ten" aka when he trained him, konan and Yahiko.
Also he was setting up seals and such around the hideout among other smart feats. He is no Minato or Itachi. But defwnately very talented and reasonably intelligent.
At least in the Jiraya fight. In the Naruto fight he did alot of dumb things wich the Pein that killed Jiraya wouldnt do. Funniest was just standing whilr naruto threw himself with his Rasengan.

I don't think obito can beat either pain or itachi before the war arc. His kamui has a limited time it can last before it runs out which was 5 minutes I think and Itachi and Pain just have to keep a consistent 5 minute offensive against him, while Obito has no offensive jutsu of his own outside of kamui, and his is short range. Pain especially has the power to keep a much longer than 5 minute offensive against obito. And he can rip souls out, he can absorb charkra, he can use telekinesis to push obito away, summons, everything.
War arc obito is on another level though, so no contest there.
Obito could just leave the battlefield vs pain. And come back after he uses too much chakra. Obito can’t be off guarded so I don’t see a way he’s stuck there at all.
Itachi would have to be sick in order for Obito to pull off the W. Bc Amaterasu can catch Obito for whatever reason. His crow shadow clones make it hard to get a kill shot. Both know igsanagi. Itachi really only bc of stamina. If Obito fights Itachi alive & healthy, his best play is to try to wait until he’s blind.
The thing with obito is i dont think he got more PHYSICALLY stronger than when he was 14, like yes its been 16 years obito has to have gotten stronger, but that zetsu amp man, listen just remember obito was crippled, madara gave dude some hashirama cells, and now obito is as tall as minato when kakashi is shorter than might guy, the zetsu buff is so great that it made obito taller, when he was crippled, like how do you overcome that amp on your own unles you are on some might guy shit? Plus the show kinda always portray obito as this powerhouse if anything there was an implication he got weaker, the first time an amp was even elaborated was when he got the rinnegan since he was 14, but did he get better with kamui, ms his izanagi and his reactions and such, yes, but i think him also losing the ninetails, not having the chains not depending on zetsu, at most obito is physically relative to himself when he had the zetsu amp, thats my thought on it

Deidara is underrated. Personally I think Hebi Sasuke is underrated too with cursemark, Orochi techniques and his summons. Manda alone is OP. I think Hebi Sasuke is stronger than pre susanoo MS Sasuke and possibly early susanoo Sasuke. Also Hebi Sasuke was a hard counter to Deidara. So Deidara losing to Hebi Sasuke is not a bad loss so I think he’s one of the stronger Akatsuki. Also Kisame says this and he’s sent on a lot of missions by Obito and Kabuto.

i think when itachi says he would kill obito, it's not that he can kill obito in a 1v1.. but its more like itachi hinting of assassinating him whenever he gets a chance. That's how dea'th threats work. Obito is definitely the strongest in Akatsuki.
A lot of this scaling is way off, chiefly with Konan. Discounting her feat of taking out Tobi, who only survived due to Izanagi, is silly. She's not stronger than Obito, but it shows she's capable of taking down much stronger characters with her ingenuity. Plus, just saying she'd beat Sakura? Which Sakura lol. War Arc Sakura negs half of the Akatsuki and Post Shippuden/Boruto Sakura negs the entire Akatsuki except Obito due to Kamui being a hard counter to most of her arsenal and even then, she has feats displaying she's capable of countering him. Sakura hits a point where if she touches someone, it's over.
Also, Obito takes out every single member of the Akatsuki. Orange Mask alone could take out everyone except maybe Pain and Itachi. Against White Mask, nobody takes him out. He's a hard counter to everything Pain has and he's a hard counter to any advantages Itachi has with MS over other people. Obito being wary of Itachi in early Ship is not a feat considering a far weaker Obito swaps hands with Prime, non Sage/Kyubi Minato. Itachi is a problem for any character, but Obito takes any version of Itachi down eventually.
Also, you're misrepresenting Itachi vs Nagato. Itachi did not have the destructive power to overpower Nagato alone. He needed the help of two mastered Jinchuriki to do so.
Also booth Pein and Nagatos arsenal fully disable all of Itachis abilities.
It was Kabuto controlling Nagato and fighting him Bee and Naruto at once that lost him the fight.
Against Jiraya he used the summonings much smarter and spread them nicely. He also fought much more tactical by sending 3 paths first etc.
We also knoe from jiraya that he mastered every chakra nature and jutsu he could teach at an early age when he trained them.

Idk why so many people think susanoo can be absorbed by the rinnegan when nothing ever backs that up and if anything theres evidence against it being able to do so since Madara's susanoo prevented him from absorbing ohnoki's particle style.... its highly unlikely that the susanoo gets absorbed by the preta path. And whats crazier is even if it did (which it doesn't) that wouldnt negate the force behind the susanoo's punch, sword, etc because it isnt able to absorb it that fast so the blunt force is still going to kill that path.
Just gravity pull the user out into a hail of chakra rods and lasers.
If sand can throw MADARA FUCKING UCHIHA then GRAVITY does the job ten times easier. And Madara wasnt fast enough to reactivate the ribcage and had to use his Rinnegan instead.

We never really see Itachi try hard to beat anyone. The twice he gets close to trying, he one-shot Orochimaru and Edo Nagato. That totsuka blade is fast, and doesn't seem to be absorbable. honestly i think that's Itachi's ace-in-the-hole attack. I don't think he'd be able to get every path of pain before he dies, however. Pain is smart enough that he's probable just wait Itachi out.

What about bansho tenin pulling him out? Or Shinra tensei pushing it away?
How will he deal with chibaku? If he could just "Stab the core" hed not ask bee and Naruto to throw their strongest long ranged attacks. He NEEDED them to break it.
And if we talk fully non konoha batteling and destroying six paths? Not fighting Bee and Naruto as just a controlled Nagato but six individually cintrolled paths plus summonings.
And we saw how Nagato used his summonings WAY better against Jiraya then Kabuto did controlling him. Tge splitting dogs alone can sacrafice some to pile on his susannos sword arm to pin it, others join in. Thrn gravity pull itachi in his own totska blade among so much more.
Not only that, alive itachi is dying. He can't last that long nor keep Sussanno out much.

Itachi vs Nagato made me realize just how OP they would’ve been if they never got sick or injured. Imagine a healthy, alive Itachi that can actually keep up with KCM Naruto, spam MS abilities, use Susanoo better than we saw in his fight against Sasuke. Even more insane would be a healthy, alive Nagato with similar speed, full creative and simultaneous use of the Rinnegan abilities and more chakra.
An alive Itachi straight up can't spam MS, the fucker would go blind. We've only ever seen Itachi use MS abilities 5 times and he was already seeing four of Sasuke.

Healthy Nagato would defenately be stronger then Itachi because he can still counter everything and the MS quiclly gets you blind.

2. pain/nagato(Being the face of akatasuki i feel he should be up there and given his showing in edo and during naruto fight I think he is just ubsurd when all is factored plus plot wise he shouldnt be weaker than anyone else)
3. itachi(him beating everyone else i dont think i need to explain but he does lose to obito and pain for me healthy or otherwise its not a stomp but if itachi was stronger than why he aint just kill them.)

Or at the very least its proven genjutsu the paths expirience, do not effect Nagato who can tap them out.
Not only that, Pein can outlast Itachi very easily due to his sickness. And any use of a MS ability leads to blindness sooner or later.
Now yes he is very smart, but nothing he does can counter an onslaught of animals, rockets and lasers other then imidietly sussanno and thus end blind rather quickly. The Rinnegan is a superior Dojutsu that can see into other dimensions and thus limbo clones. It is possible but not even relevant. Nagato is uneffected and like Kurama does to Naruto can wake up the effected path. Frog song showed us that by not having Nagato effected even if he hears what the paths hear and sees what the path see.. Booth in the Manga and Anime.

He fights Animals, rockets, lasers, gravity, flying rinnegan rods, soul ripping attacks and much much more at once. Its not just one animal at a time or onr path. Its the mass that drains and kills him in the end.

I feel like obito is perfect counter for pain and he can just kamui all the pains. Itachi was able to figure out the rinnegan very quick and can just put up his susanoo and go to work on all the pains, and people forget edo nagato was killed by an Amaterasu, but came back bc edo immortality. Pain’s win condition could be planetary devastation, but itachi has more yakasa beads than he used against edo nagato so he may be able to counter it. Itachi has exploding clones to damage obito the same way konan did, he is relative in speed to obito, and his izanami and tsukuyomi give him the win against obito.
First of Edo Nagato wanted to die, not win against his fellow student of Jiraya Naruto he put his belive in. Then Kabuto controlled and failed to properly utelize his summons and abilities and even stated he didnt know everything about Nagato such as his extreme sensory abilities that found hin behind barriers in his cave miles away.
Jiraya slso stated he masteredxall chacra naturesxand all jutsu he could teach very early on during his recap.

Speed: Itachi reacts and spars kcm Naruto.

Strengh: Itachi is reasonably strong.
Deva survived explosions, beatdowns from kyuubi mode to seven tails and could still fight. They also fought well with sage Jiraya.
Stammina: Itachi is basicly blind and weakened due to his illness.
The Peins fought all of Konoha for Intel, not to kill. Then blew up the village. Then fought perfect sage naruto with intel, with pa and ma, with 3 warrior frogs. Nine tails mode Naruto up to 8 tails oncr in the massive draining chibaku. And could still fight base Naruto.

We also see in the Jiraya fight how much better he utelizes the summonings then Kabuto did who kind of just put them on a platter to be killed.

Sasuke at the start of shippuden isn't beating Kakazu. He has nothing on the level of the Rasenshuriken. Kakashi stated it would have had to use Kamui, but that he would have been in the hospital after. There's only 80 chapters between the Kakazu fight starting (338) and Pain invading konoha (420).

Just rewarch the scene. Nagato gets blitz by amaterasu. Uses shinra tensei to push the flames away. And then he regenerates the fatal wound caused by amaterasu.
