Also, correction - Samsung's wide selfie mode is software based, not hardware based. The main front camera is wide angle, and using software, the "close up" mode crops into this. All my findings in this video still stand

There is just a single front camera in the Samsung S10 Plus. The other lens that looks like a camera is a depth sensor, not a 2nd camera.

I prefer the iPhone i this case. It has some sort of 3D microphone setup. I can here the cars driving past in stereo starting on one side and ending on another. Sound quality is good on both but I like the 3D surround affect on the iPhone which isn’t as prominent on the galaxy.

I really like the setup/format of this comparison! I’d recommend continuing to do videos with a mount like this. I’d like to hear your thoughts on which has the most realistic color in the scenes like the water where we don’t know what color it should be IRL. I think Samsung has an opportunity to be great with their hardware. Like you mention, it’s similar to the Note 9 but the pictures on the Note 9 I think were better. They could improve some of these focus issues with software then it would be great.

i find this format not that good, with 3 way comparisons. Also, much of the screen is occupied by the brand names. Check out Pixel Peepers channel, i find that comparison format being the best in depth

Galaxy S10 autofocus seems to want a software update. Even a galaxy S8 focuses instantaneously. Samsung is known for the best autofocus.

What setting was used on the mate 20? There is standard (which isn't default), vivid and smooth. I've always found that the default (vivid) is way too saturated and switch it to smooth or standard. Would be good to know what setting was used on this comparison as I'm thinking of switching to the s10.

S10+ is a bit too vivid sometimes.
I think the Mate 20Pro standard color is similar to the Xperia1.

I agree. There are three modes in huawei. So he should try smooth and standard as well. And for those commentators, do you actually have the phones with you? You can't compare it thoroughly unless you have them as well. You need to be playful with huawei for you to achieve the near perfect shots. Huawei's portrait has so much to offer. But I prefer using the aperture so I can play with the background and control the blur.

Not a fair test since you can only use the pixel 3 in a pitch dark room. Screen is literally unviewable in ANY light on ANY brightness. Sucks to be the only company to not utilize the Samsung screens maybe the pixel 10 will be a actually usable phone.

@Caleb Alderton wireless charging itself was first done by Samsung and ultra wide was done by LG first. Plus Samsung reverse charging is faster.

Great video. I think the S10 will get better over time as they release software updates. But I do prefer the iPhone shots more often than not. I think I just prefer the warmer colours.

Arun, you're wrong. The front 2 cameras has 1 of its lens being used as depth sensor only. The wide and normal views are from same sensor lens. I'm looking forward to cover this as soon as I get my hands on the phone. :)

The passive depth sensor also works in a fairly standard way. It uses two camera lenses, spaced slightly apart, to let the phone compare two images and piece together the depth of objects in stereo, similar to how human eyes tell how far away something is.

The S10's secondary selfie camera is not a wide-angle one. It is purely for depth mapping. You'll notice the viewfinder still sees you if you try covering up the lens, both in regular view and ultra-wide.
I'm an Android guy, but I gotta say iPhone consistently handles skin better and I think Samsung's choice to do portrait mode with the wide angle lens was a bad choice. It distorts the shape of your head

As soon as I finish this video I immediately test my mate 20 pro mic. It sounds alright. Not sure if its still the case if done outside with the same scenario. But it sounds fine indoors.
