THIS! almost all "reviewers" seem to barely know the thing in their hands. Mostly because the mayority of them are main Iphone users... and panic when a menu with more than 2 options pops up. LOL

I think they both look great, I actually prefer iPhone’s camera and its realistic look, but I think it depends only on personal preferences.
You won’t be disappointed with either of them anyway :)
For camera buy pixel 3. For massive amount of options and freedom go with Samsung. If you mostly care about Instagram and snapchat go with iPhone

Jerry Reyes Problem is Pixel 3s camera is fantastic but it’s audio and video recording are complete trash, literally embarrassing quality, slightly better image quality isn’t worth a serious downgrade in video quality

You can‘t really go wrong with either one!

The iPhone has a much higher Bitrate and looks cleaner with more details, color accuracy and lighting.
Back Portrait = Samsung

The Samsung has better Edge detection and also a wider shot

The iPhone doesnt look that washed out and keeps a realistic impression

Both are lovely cameras. As someone who rarely ever uses the front facing camera I think I prefer the iPhones more natural and consistent photos, but the S10s autofocus is extremely impressive! Wow, 2 great phones with 2 great cameras. As I say now it’s all down to OS preference.

The Samsung s10+ actually has two slow motion options. The second option is very simple to use and you get fantastic results.

Omar Arab What are you talking about ? The Samsung over saturates and sharpens the photos. XS Max looks more natural. That’s not to say that saturating looks bad, I prefer it more. But don’t just say things that don’t make sense.

Watching this on the XS max, after taking photos and videos with this in all kinds of scenarios since release, I can say its definitely insanely good.

How far technology advanced ... these are tiny cameras and they still do a great job on both these devices.
I think the choice comes down to which ecosystem you prefer, the camera itself is not enough to drive this decision.

I prefer the iPhone XS Max camera. But the S10+ camera is phenomenal. I just don’t take photos using a wide range of options. I just like to point and shoot and have the photo come out as best as possible.

You have to pick the camera that gives the color rendering you appreciate more, but I would say that the S10 super wide angle lens would be default choice for anything landscape.

I think you might be right. When the XS was better it was because the S10 was really not doing it’s job properly. Where as when the S10 beat the XS it was by a small margin.
XS Max is better but Apple still needs up their game on other things.

I feel like you're being a bit of an Apple fanboy here. Super steady mode is amazing especially for sports like skiing or snowboarding. This camera guy was in the video of boredatnetwork and he made a super steady video while snowboarding and it looked amazing. It is useable. And you can record 240fps slow mo too on the S10+ which looks better.

Next time you should get at least 5 non tech person to give their opinions on the cameras. It would be good to do it blind too. Most of your evaluation is coming from a techy perspective.
My conclusion is... It all boils down to personal preference.
If you bring in girls they'll 100% say iPhone. Even if it was iPhone 4s vs s10+

Yeah iPhone definitely takes better pictures. The s10 took some pretty good pic but the iPhone always look more natural.

Why didn't you try to take a photo in the living room or somewhere else at home.All smartphones kind of suck at taking good clear photos there.
I'm pretty sure and if I'm wrong then I Hope Samsung puts out an update to optimize some camera AI / features and also give options for the user to set the percentage of the processing / some AI edits so users can take more "natural" pictures if they'd like and to have a bit more options/versatility. If they did that, the S10 would be a bit ahead. But still, both are great for most people I'm just talking for us S10 users .

I've been waiting for this one! I can agree the iPhone XS Max does find it difficult to focus if the object is really close, I've noticed that. However, I've got to say the iPhone XS Max photos look better overall, yes I know I'm bias cos I've got one, but I much prefer the truer colours of the XS Max. I don't like how the S10 Plus flips the photo, my S9 Plus used to do that as well! I also don't like the way the S10 Plus photos come out with odd colour tinges at times, and, the flash is very obvious on the pics, awful. So, sticking with my trusted reliable XS Max until September, thanks Dan great video again.. 👍🙏♥️
You know there is a setting in the camera app that will take the photo as you see it = no flip. And that is for all Samsung phones.

From all of the comparisons that I watched is that the S10 has a little bit artificial in the coloring and the XS Max has more natural color and each of the phone has their flaws, both can't disappoint you

Great anysis. I like filming one or two songs when I go to concerts, and took both a Note 9 and iPhone XS Max to the last concert I saw. Both video and photos were way better with the iPhone. Video wasn't even comparable. That honestly surprised me. But it was one of the things that made me stay with the iPhone. Course it's a very specific use case.
I am using both of them... and trust me iphone x s max camera is much better than s10 plus

samsung overkilled it with the three cameras instead of focusing more on improving the image processing and hdr, the photos are nice and the lenses could be used much better..... the processing is just too artificial, it looks like it already has an instagram filter slapped on it ........

I have both and what we have to keep in mind Samsung is a generation ahead. Wait till iPhone comes out this year and compare those. I do love s10plus but it blows my mind iPhone is better in most camera and video shots. If iPhone had s10 new screen that would be nice. I use iPhone as primary for various reasons including ecosystem but always save newest Samsung as backup. Great review thanks.

Dxo mark scores depends on how many cameras the phone has. More cameras = higher score.
Lol. Look at Huawei p20 pro, it has higher marks than iphone xs while its far worse. Dxomark is calculating on the overall capabilities, not the quality. Overall iphone xs is still the best.

Yeah. Not gonna lie. Picture quality on iphone is somewhat still better. But that doesn't stop me from prefering Samsung's Innovation than Apple's
Both are really amazing cameras and phones and no one would be disappointed with either.
I would go for the iPhone XS Max though, as I prefer its video capability and natural quality and ease of use.
I even prefer Note 9 camera over the iPhone Xs Max a little bit more. If you only shoot in auto mode either phone is good.

Overall Iphone XS Max is better. Samsung's stock camera app has restricted its true capabilities. Side-load google cam app on S10 & see its true colors.
