  • Today, we take a trip over to UPR Products in Lake Worth, FL to help develop some new products for the all new Bronco Raptor.
Steve, AKA "The Catch Can Man" explains why you need a catch can, what type of catch can you should get, and of course, the development process of the BRaptor specific catch cans.

We're not quite sure yet but will definitely make sure to reply once we have confirmation on it.

This video is mostly FaceTime and bad advice. I’ll stick with the Ford Performance engineers on this one, personally.

Ill have to agree , no need for a catch can sorry

@@geocap7980people trusted ford engineers on the 2.7 and 3.5 ecoboost and they regretted that choice as well. A catch can is a must for a well maintained boosted motor to keep the valves clean. Unless you have a port injected motor then it’s not as important. DI only then it is.

I will respectfully disagree having owned 7 turbo engined vehicles including a 2017 raptor and a 2023 Braptor . A catch can is not a must

@@geocap7980 if anyone those 7 motors were DI only then I guarantee you had valves with excess carbon on them. Every DI motor has this issue especially forced induction. If they had port injection then it’s not as big of a deal. I’m not willing to bet Ford learned their lesson from the 2.7 and 3.5 valve carbon issues but maybe they addd a port injector like they did on the 5.0 or remodeled the pcv system. I haven’t researched these motors in depth yet.

catch cans are the biggest scam in the automotive industry lmao. NO, oil will not backflow into the throttle body and mess up your intercooler and coat your intake manifold yada yada yada.

I'm sorry you're mistaken. Check any throttle body and/or intake tract on any modern vehicle, especially one that is boosted, and without a catch can, there will 100% be some sort of oil residue. The PCV system is designed to recirculate crankcase pressure, which happens to be an oil mist, back through the intake on the vehicle for environmental purpose. Not only the oil mist build up overtime and cause issues, but can certainly reduce engine efficiency. There's really no myth or old wise tale to be told here, its been tried true and tested over quite some time now. It's literally what the system is designed for.
