I'm doing a video on fried rice in the next few days. We did a video on ginger chicken but it has to be edited. You can combine the 2. Am also doing pickled pig feet with ginger and eggs, very traditional for new moms.
Aloha! How do you measure your glutinous rice flour? Do you scoop with the measuring cup right into the flour or do you scoop with a spoon add it to measuring cup and level it?
whoa i love mochi, now i can make my own! thank you! do you have a recipe for white sugar steam cake. The chinese calls it white sugar gao! I have not been very successful with it so thought I ask the guru of asian cooking!
I'm working on it. Haven't found the right formula. Eventually I'll get it. The name is soong gau. They used to have the 9 layer cake with the top one being brown but no one makes it now. It is too time consuming.
Had one of those Bundt pans and I never could keep all the liquid in it even when it was brand new. I really don’t understand why it was made like that. I threw mine away after having all my mochi mixture all over my counter!
We call it black sugar. Mom used to make it with soaked red beans, cook it, then mash it with a little oil and water and sugar in a skillet till it became paste like. You can buy different sweet pastes in packages in Chinatown.
Ingredients:
13 1/2 oz can of coconut milk and enough water to make 2 cups of liquid
1 1/4 c sugar
1 3/4 c mochi flour
I like the pineapples in the background
Lee, I enjoyed your video and will try the mochi. I thought of putting different flavors of ice cream then freeze it. What you think?
Yes, that works. My granddaughter did that and she liked it.
Wow that was quick and easy! Thank you
You're welcome ☺️
I've always used your recipe and it always turns out good. Your granddaughter Leila will definitely find a way to make ice cream mochi!
Wow I’m gonna try this.... I always thought mochi was something hard to make!
I like mochi with sweetened bean paste and strawberries. This one looks easy and yummy

Wow!! Can’t believe there’s only 4 ingredients and you can use the microwave to cook it. I thought this would be a harder dish to make thank you
Don’t have a microwave. How about steaming? How many minutes? 15-20 minutes or more until center comes out clean with toothpick test? Thank you!
You just have to experiment. Let me know.

That happened to me so many times. Now I just use a ceramic or pyrex dish with no center and it works fine.
Have you tried that will silicone mold ?
No I haven't. Let me know if you find it useful.
