  • A man who is terminally ill and has sought treatment to no avail, asks if his interest in self-enquiry is for the body, and if the body is mind, is illness a neurosis. Rupert suggests that his interest in self-enquiry is to find happiness, to return to his true nature, otherwise known as 'die before you die.'

Thank you Ruben. I am also experiencing a health situation which appears to be leading towards a death of the body. I am in pain and fear yet also strangely excited. Waves of fear and exileration. I yearn for peace but struggle to stay with it. And so it goes...

I am not Rupert but from my understanding awareness is not traumatized, bi-polar, or schizophrenic. A mind may be, but our true nature is whole and complete it is peace and love. Here is a quote from his website: «Iillness' is an interpretation by the mind. It resides in the mind. The idea of illness is as real as the idea of the body. In fact they are part and parcel of the same idea. From the standpoint of Knowing Presence, there is only itself. Knowing Presence simply knows its own unqualified being. There is nothing there to cure. It does not need a perfect body to reside in its own being. The problem is for the mind.»
It may help a mind that suffers to see our true nature, but it will probably not cure it ever but for the mind it might give a lot of comfort.

Body and Mind, the Cartesian premise aside, are two aspects of local time/space duality. The question is, from whence is Mind in-formed? From an Infinite True Self, or finite Ego? The point being, the Ego does not survive. Further, the Ego cannot repair the Mind. Mind, rather, must be in-formed by non-local Consciousness. Too often, the Quest is externalized, and we end up looking in all the wrong "places." The Philosopher's Stone -- The Holy Grail -- is not far and away, but near and within.

If the body has no independent existence outside of Consciousness but is rather a manifestation of Consciousness, is disease also a manifestation of Consciousness? How can that be? Consciousness does not know disease, or aging for that matter, etc. So how can Consciousness manifest what it knows nothing about. To say it's natural for the body seems to imply that the body does have an indpendent existence.

here's a strange moment in the history of human consciousness, a man somewhere, let's say provisionally "me," weeps "into" this medium, this youTube whose essence he can't possibly understand. The man marks let's say the death or looming death of another man. Strange moment. This shearing of separate selves, these consolidations of separate selves, all this roiling in the strange river of time. There's a river near here, in fact, the Niagara, and I see this all in there. Pools circle, hold, loosen. Under-river rocks suggest themes of coherence, nudge the water certain ways. There are variations on the themes. The river flows away and is never gone. I mark, in passing, me, and this man, and that one. Don't know what it means to weep "into" this medium, but here I am.

Body and mind are not the same. They are different orders of reality. When you see the body only as a means of communication, you will heal because the mind has been healed. All illness, or dis-ease, is the result of a distorted perception of self, of a fragmented and separated illusion. Unfortunately, and this is the problem I have , is that people, more times than not, die with excruciating pain and for long periods. Even worse, people are born with afflictions that they have to live with their whole lives. What I'm saying is that we are limiting the idea of Love by accepting all this pain and suffering as part of the process of life. We need to eliminate pain and suffering by gaining greater understanding of Love. Now you can really call me delusional! Lol

One could say a mirror makes no sense, it's within its reflected images, ever apart and yet untouched by these images. As you are ever within and without yet untouched by the body the minds content and world plus experience. Experience when looked out without judgement or remembered belief, consists of nothing other than yourself. Let doubt be Doubtful. That knowing transparency like the sun in a blue sky never was clouded. The weather seemed to happen but the reality of the weather and the blue sky is the sun that illuminates these. No sun no weather. No knowing, nothing known. Without you, nothing is. Existence is not what we think. Its love truth and beauty is still the same with or without thought that often says otherwise.

When you recognize you are Infinite Self Infinite Spirit Infinite Mind and the impossibility of sickness you can look at sickness and see its nothingness. Rest in the peace of this certainty and sickness "vanishes". It only seem to be there because of a belief. This is true Salvation-- the Formless and Form are One. Everything is real. What is not real or better say "true" is thoughts labeling/naming of reality into separate pieces, objects/realities and concepts, such as matter for instance. Matter is only a thought, a sound in the head, six letters following each other. Now what does the word/sound "matter" refer to? If you say that matter refers to 'stone' for example, ask yourself, IS the word/sound "matter" actually that which you call stone? Are they inseparable? The only "thing" in reality that says a stone is a stone, is the word/sound "stone". A "stone" doesn't say "I'm a stone", only thought does. The same goes for everything, matter included, and the word YOU or I included
