Diana wasn't an ordinary person, her family was one of the most prominent aristocratic family's in the UK. She grew up next to Sandringham (RF's country home) and she played with Prince Andrew as a child, had lots of joint friends and helped introduce him to his wife. This idea that she was just a regular person is not true.

Diana's father was Equerry to the Queen. The husband of one of her sisters worked in the Royal Household for more than 20 years in several positions ending as Private Secretary to the Queen. Diana's family has very close connections to the Royal Family going back generations.

Diana did more than was shown in this video. She also took her sons, William and Harry, to visit a homeless person who lived in a large refrigerator box. She asked permission from the man to come inside, and spoke with him for some time. She treated him with complete dignity.
Near the end of her life, she worked very hard to bring awareness to the danger of land. Mines left behind after war. She met with several victims of landmines who had lost limbs. And then, one of my favourite videos of her she pushed a photographer’s camera lens out of a girls face while she was trying to talk to her.

    Princess Diana:
1 She was the first celebrity to be photographed in the Press shaking hands, without gloves, with an AIDS patient in hospital. This was in the early 80s when AIDS was a death sentence and people were paranoid about it, thinking that they might catch AIDS if someone with HIV entered the building, etc. She was also photographed holding a baby with AIDS. This changed attitudes to AIDS patients overnight.
2 She came out honestly in public about her anorexia nervosa and bulimia, and her struggle against it. This was something that was very common but very seldom talked about. It brought these problems into the open for a lot of people.
3 She drew attention to the problem of land-mines in war zones - and visited some minefields - which most people were unaware of.
4 As a wonderfully photogenic model, she provided great publicity for British dress designers.

Diana wasn't just an ordinary citizen - Diana is descended from not one, but two illegitimate children of King Charles II of England: Henry Fitzroy and Charles Lennox, via two of her great-grandmothers, Adelaide Seymour and Rosalind Bingham. This means that Diana's royal family tree stretches back through the ages of both English and Scottish history.

Yeah, this video doesn't really explain the context of some of these clips. She was actually tricked into doing that one interview by the journalist and the BBC. Not sure how 'normal' her job was to be honest. She was a nanny at an exclusive Day Nursery - where the families who sent their children there were in the top echelons of society.....and her father was an Earl, so her upbringing was almost as privilaged as the Royal Family's. She's not the first person to mary into the family having worked either. Princess Anne's first husband was a Captain in the Army, and the Queen's sister Margaret married a photographer in 1960....
The Big Reveal Interview has to be seen against a backdrop of marriage that had already fallen apart, and Charles was continuing to see Camilla during his marriage, so Diana's 'Revelations' were no shock to anyone at the Palace- except for the fact that she'd spoken publicly! Charles should have been allowed to marry Camilla in the first place....but no- he had to find someone more 'suitable'. It was an unmittigated disaster.
I think they could have included her active campaigning against the use of landmines- being photographed walking in an area where mine clearances were underway.

Back in former days, Tyler, it was normal for British Princes and Princesses to have marriages that had been arranged by their parents - Queen Victoria (1837 - 1901) and some of her European counterparts being perhaps the most notorious. This was in part because they were expected to marry someone of equal or higher rank. After the First World War this requirement largely disappeared - except in the case of direct heirs to the throne, which was considerably reinforced by the marriage of the Prince of Wales prior to Charles, who abdicated his throne as King Edward VIII in favour of Wallis, his twice-divorced American lover, whom he later quietly married in France, as Duke of Windsor.
As Prince of Wales, Charles met the then Camilla Shand in 1970. She was a member of a family who moved in royal circles, albeit at senior servant rather than peer level; and because of her lowly status she was not considered a suitable candidate for a future queen consort and reluctantly, they ended their romance, but remained friends. At length she married Andrew Parker- Bowles a man of similar social standing who had also been a former boyfriend of Charles' sister, Princess Anne (now the Princess Royal). Having given up his true love, Charles appeared to be in no rush to get married; having a whole string of girlfriends throughout the 1970s - including Diana's sister, who through he would eventually meet Diana. As he was by now in his early 30s he was under intense pressure to marry somebody, and with his great-uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten - whom he later described as his "surrogate grandfather" trying to play cupid with one of his granddaughters; Charles appears to have agreed to marry Diana to meet his social and dynastic obligations, without actually wanting to do so. By now her status as the younger daughter of an earl was almost irrelevant, such was the desperation to get him married and producing heirs...!
Diana did make a real effort to establish her role as Princess of Wales, and her youthful values were extremely popular to the public, who saw her as a moderniser and quite possibly saviour of the Royal Family, who were otherwise seen as stuffy, haughty, old-fashioned, distant and increasingly irrelevant to modern British society. Her work with HIV/AIDS patients in particular, earned her the unofficial title of "Queen of Hearts" which the popular press of the day began to use - as did her work with homeless shelters and rough sleepers - whom she took her sons (whom she dressed in ordinary children's clothes and no in mini-business suits as all other child princes had been), along with her to such places and to also familiarise themselves with the plights of real people. Her husband did not feel he could follow suit however, and they increasingly grew apart. Perhaps it was little wonder that Charles found solace in the woman he had so long been denied - especially as Camilla's marriage was also in trouble and both ended up divorcing their respective spouses. It is for this reason that Queen Camilla remains "the other woman" in the eyes of many, who do not feel that she is worthy of her position or title.

Charles could not marry Camilla because she was a woman with a past. Charles had to marry a virgin. Charles hoped that he would be able to work something out with his parents so he could marry Camilla. When Charles was on a tour of duty with the navy, he was gone for msny, many months. Camilla got tired of waiting for him and married Andrew Parker Bowles, another man she had deep feelings for. Camilla and Charles wouldn't be allowed to marry because Camilla would have to get a divorce, and the Church of England would not allow royals to marry someone who was divorced. Charles and Camilla thought after Diana had done her duty producing a heir and a spare that she would be a good little wife and fade away into the background and they would be able to carry on their relationship. It's a well, known fact that most male royals had other women on the side. This WASN'T the case with Prince Philip. The relationship between Charles and Camilla never really ended.

      @alysonhopkins2037 Před 11 měsíci

Rubbish. They had a letter "C" on them which denoted Charles. And the 2 "C"'s? Well as everyone knows on cufflinks you have 2 ends to go thru' the holes on one sleeve - one C on one side and another "C" on the other side (Probably oval in shape but could be round). On a set of cufflinks you will have 4 "C"'s. Do you believe everything you read in the press? Would YOU actually do that? NO.
There was a lot of fake news back then and you have to use your own judgement and thoughts to see a more likely scenario.
I can imagine that perhaps from the age of 25 /26 he was pressured in to marrying from all sides to have an heir and a spare as he was next in line to the throne. To have most of his relations going on about it year after year. He knew his duty. They looked around and everyone thought Lady Diana was the best - no history of boyfriends, parties etc. The Queen Mother, Lord Mountbatten and parents too - even the government of the day might get involved as their want to do (when is Charles marrying to continue the line).
He tried his best to start with but over the years it just didn't work. They had only met half a dozen times before they married and the 12 year gap in ages, plus they had nothing in common. Doomed from the start imo. Charles should have married Camilla from the start as now has been proven. Even you can see how happy they are.

I was a huge fan of Princess Diana, she was our first Princess of Wales for many a long year
Our last Princess of Wales was:
Victoria Mary Augusta Louise Olga Pauline Claudine Agnes of Teck. Born 26 May 1867 Became Princess of Wales on 9 November 1901 until she became Queen Mary in 1911 her husband King George V, they were Queen Elizabeth II paternal grandparents.
I found Diana to be very relatable and the most human kindest person in the royal family. Her humanity knew no bounds
After her divorce from Prince Charles (now King Charles III) she helped in fighting the war against land mines.

The Spencer family are part of the UK's Aristocracy, Jane Spencer had dated Charles before Diana. She was different to the stiff Royals and to her credit she did make her sons queue at theme parks as well as all the stuff reported here. The Martin Bashir Interview is a huge controversy and has been the recent subject of litigation in the UK which has forced apologies from the BBC which aired it. Sadly Diana became tabloid fodder after the "Annus Horribilus" but we remember her work with Aids/HIV and campaigns against things like minefields more than we remember "Squidgygate" or that time Charles wished he was a Tampon as part of "Camillagate".

It was the interview she gave about her marriage that killed it completely. She was tricked into giving the interview by Martin Bashir. Afterwards she realised she'd made a massive mistake, contacted the Palace press office to ask if the interview could be stopped but she was told it was too late. She regretted it, especially when the Queen told Charles that, after all the problems Diana and Charles had been through, the marriage had to end. It wasn't a case of the RF not liking her, it was the fact that she was paranoid, had several mental problems which made her hard to deal with. She publicised many good causes but she could be demanding and her friends had to be available 24/7. If they couldn't do that they would be ghosted. She was also guilty of telling the paps where she was going to be and then complaining about being harassed, which pi$$ed off the papers. Basically she was a paradox.

In many ways Diana was more royal than the royals because she was descended from Charles II through his mistress Barbara Palmer, Duchess of Cleveland, Countess Castlemaine and was almost entirely English/Irish, while the British crown is essentially German.
The 'Revenge Dress' was indeed shocking at the time. Although by then Diana wasn't technically royal, she was generally regarded as so and was the mother of the future king. In those days royal women seldom wore dresses or skirts above the knee - certainly not so high above the knee. Furthermore proprietary held as a general rule, off the shoulder dresses should be longer in length, preferably floor length. To wear a short, off the shoulder dress was unheard of. And it was black! It was worn the same evening the then Prince Charles gave his reply televised interview to try and repair the damage done by Diana's televised interview. Also both interviews were given at a time the Queen's 'never complain, never explain' edict was still very much a thing. My (quite posh), mum nearly had a fit of the vapors.

Her mother was Frances, a daughter of 4th Baron Fermoy.
Diana's parents were married in Westminster Abbey.
Her grandmother, Ruth, Baroness Fermoy was a personal friend and confident of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen mother.
The current 9th Earl Spencer is her brother. There are two older sisters. Sarah and Jane.

Is what I firmly believe is why when she was offered protection by The Met she rejected or refused it, because she was likely paranoid by what Bashir was saying (even making up bank statements to prove it, was a big scandal that Charles Spencer her brother really regrets introducing them, I really feel for the Earl Spencer (as thats his title, was him whom gave Diana's Eulogy thats written at her memorial in Althorp.

I think she was a very kind person and thoughful but not suitable to become a member of the royal family. She was already a member of the aristocracy and knew what their world contained but even she couldn't fit in. It's not surprising that Megan couldn't make it as she was raised so differently. Her title was never "Princess Diana". Only a daughter, or granddaughter through the male line, of a Monarch can be titled in such a manner. eg. Princess Anne, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Princess Charlotte.
Her correct title was Diana, Princess of Wales ... or .... Princess Charles, of Wales.
In the same way the Press and Public have got the current Princess of Wales wrong. She is neither Princess Kate or Princess Catherine.
Her correct title is Catherine, Princess of Wales ... or ... Princess William of Wales.
As a cross reference, try checking out the wife of Prince Michael of Kent.
He is the younger brother of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra. They are first cousins to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The children of George, Duke of Kent, a younger brother of King Edward VIII and King George VI.
Grandchildren of King George V and Queen Mary.
Prince Michael's wife is never referred to, or known as Princess Marie-Christine. Because he has no subsidiary title, eg. like his elder brother, the Duke of Kent, whose wife is Katherine, Duchess of Kent ... or Princess Edward of Kent.
So Marie-Christine is only known as Princess Michael of Kent.
Check it out on Google or Wikipedia.
I suspect by far the majority of the British Press and Public are oblivious to these facts.

There is no tradition in the Church of England of "kissing the bride" at the altar and the marriage service has never included the cringeworthy "You may now kiss the bride!" that one often used to hear said by judges conducting weddings at the courthouse in American westerns at the cinema. Charles did not forget to kiss Diana at the altar any more than Philip forgot to kiss Queen Elizabeth at their wedding or Prince Albert and Queen Victoria.
You will often see this unseemly behaviour at modern weddings in these islands now because of the influence of popular culture and the relaxation of rules of formal conduct.
Even the kiss on the balcony is a relatively recent innovation. Charles and Andrew did it but I do not remember it happening at earlier royal weddings e.g. Princess Anne, Princess Margaret, Princess Alexandra, Princess Marina or King George and the Queen Mother. It would have been unthinkable for there to be such a public display of affection.

Then her work to stop land mines. There is film of her in Africa wearing protective clothing in a mine field. Then she had an African child on her lap, who had lost his legs on a land mine. Diana’s campaign changed international law on the use of these devices.
