    remember how he called Rebecca a shrew and tore into her when he thought she fired him. And then he found out he was given a contract as a coach. There's been hints of his nature all along.

      @isabelfortuneteller Před rokem +42

      True. Even at the start when he immediately yelled at Ted & Beard. He's always been one to kick downwards & lick upwards.

      Exactly this. One thing Ted Lasso always did masterfully is plant seeds from the start about plot twists and character turns.

    I think whats going on with Nate is a good study of insecurity and what is like for a person who previously had power taken away from them to be given it, even if its painful to watch him change. Its sadly realistic for a lot of people.

    I love Zuff's chaotic intros. Correcting himself from we, to the show "finding" Ted "sleeping" in Dr. Sharon's "locker". I don't know how Bryce or Rob keep straight faces.

  • @Wiley_Coyote
    @Wiley_Coyote Před rokem +32

    Mind you, this stuff with Nate hardly came out of nowhere. There were instances earlier in Season 2 I think one of you guys noticed, and Season 1 had little hints about his insecurity (basically everything from him in the first two episodes), buried hairtrigger temper (remember how he responded when he momentarily thought he'd been fired?), and awkward overprotectiveness of the little power he had (remember his initial overreaction to Ted and Beard first being on the Pitch?)

    Man, I hated Nate's arc so much, but I so respected it for the writing. Perfect example of someone who is deeply insecure and bullied, then gained a bit of power and took every wrong lesson from it. Nate started finally feeling proud because he was getting all this external validation, but unless he figures out how to gain confidence internally, from himself, then it'll all backslide. Great story about the bully who becomes the bully, and all those tiny little things that feel like intentional slights when someone doesn't have self-confidence.

    Yeah but on the other side of Nate, sure he went from nothing to a lot but doesn't that tell you something. A persons character I feel can be shown more when they have power than when they don't. If now he's acting bad just because of a little power, doesn't that kinda mean he would have the whole time, just never had the opportunity to.

    Oliver Twist is the protagonist of a Charles Dickens novel. He's an orphan and his story is weirdly similar to HarryPotter, though he's not a wizard.

    If I had to guess, I think the Wonder Kid jersey, while a nice gift, reminds Nate of how much he fucked up on live television, even if it was a tiny wording mistake. All that pride and insecurity is really getting way too far though, and definitely makes Nate be an ass.

    I still can't believe Keeley talked about Roy behind his back to his colleagues, boss, and her own ex-bf 🙃 and we're meant to find it funny. Roy was right to feel humiliated. You just don't do that.
    Communication is key with each other. Instead she just bottled things up until she exploded.
    Talking behind your partner's back is the worst. I understand wanting to talk with Rebecca because she and Keeley are friends... but she's still Roy's boss.
    Thinking back on it Roy and Keeley's relationship had a lot of uncomfortable things happening. Starting with the fact that she gets off to Roy being miserable (in s2 she literally w*nks to him crying during his retirement press conference, and in s1 when he was about to get benched, all she could think about was how hot it would be if he cried 🤢) and to him doing exactly what she tells him to do without question. And her advice to Jamie when Roy is upset? Just agree with him and ignore the issue, who cares about WHY he's upset, right? All that matters is that he stops being a prick to me! 🙈 big nope for me.
    Roy wasn't the greatest either, but I don't want to spoil things on his part, they'll come later in the season and in s3.

    • @janemary8339
      @janemary8339 Před rokem +10

      Yeah but she also admitted to it every time Roy walked in on the conversation. And he never asked what it was they were particularly talking about him. Poor communication from both.

    • @hcroussette
      @hcroussette Před rokem +12

      "and in s1 when he was about to get benched, all she could think about was how hot it would be if he cried". That's not at all what was happening. She was being sarcastic because Roy was all "woe me" when he's a footballer who makes millions of dollars. Also she didn't see him as being miserable, she says it herself: she likes when he's passionate and vulnerable.

    • @celinelia8127
      @celinelia8127 Před rokem +7

      @nenegrey2282 wait, "when he was about to get benched, all she could think about was how hot it would be if he cried"? When did this happen? i missed that. Also, yeah, Keeley's making mistakes in this season. Roy is making less of them right now, but he will make more of them later...
