Honestly, if they wanted diversity, they should just make a character customizer. That way everyone can just play whatever they wanted.
But then they couldn't force diversity on you.
Specialist are another way to monotise the game. Give a few to players, have more require money. Same as CoD.

Been saying it for years, character creator for battlefield would do a lot of good. They got the closest with BFV but we'll probably never see that shit again
A great compromise was the BFV characters, since you had a good selection of characters to choose from (Not counting elites)

2:04 as a fan of SCI-FI and Modern Shooters aesthetic, imagining a good and deep character customization for this game, with parts like the original classes concept arts for this game is such a fantastic idea. Not gonna happen, but still such a cool concept.
It's why I still play Spore Galactic Adventures. Not exactly a shooter game, but good enough.

I can imagine 4-6 classes where you can customize each look or maybe just have the same person with a different outfit.
Bf 2042 really shouldve kept classes and done class limited customization, like for example, only support class can wear skins with big ammo belts and thick armor, and only scouts can wear capes or caps. All of this so that you can actually tell what class someone is while still allowing customization. But no, dice just couldn't bare to keep customizations rooted in some form of reality and had to fuk up this games immersion.
As a ginger, I appreciated the social commentary and also your ability to keep it funny 👍

@@LyonPercival a big complain is that you have not enough cover in special with the amount of vehicle that attack you 24/7. The understanding of map design changed in the last 20 years a lot and have only open maps is not that much fun with 128 players. You need a few maps with other focus so that every player has his maps.
That said I have fun with 2042 but still think it doesn't use it's potencial and was a complete buggy mess at launch. It gets better but is still a long way

Every new character re-introduction has me more and more excited for what Colonel 100 will be like.
I think he plays Dozer or Rao both have useless Gadgets but he will still top the boards.

Creating your own custom character and choosing a specialty like a medic/Corpsman, or Sniper etc. Just makes so much more sense. Dice and EA keep fucking it all up

If they had to adhere to a class I would be fine with it.
Facts I would prefer something like BFV where you have the classic 4 class system but you can customize the character to your liking BUT minus the clown outfits
I get what they wanted, but they should have looked at it like seige did, while seige fucked up a lot things, they did have a great baseline, your primary gadget decided your role you wanted to fill, your secondary gadget was for determining how you do it a little bit differently, and them weapons let you balance that out while having them be different power levels, though even if they didn't want to restrict weapons just restricting secondary gadgets would really help

I love how almost, if not, every person who dies throughout this series is a joke, Brutal Expectations, Legacy Features, EA's Reputation... every inch of Battlefield Friends has always been a Joke in some form or fashion and i think it deserves some damn praise for the work you guys put into this series, keep 'em coming!

What I’ve said for awhile… remove the specialists add a few maps and weapons and you’ll regain a very good size of the player base.
I (unfortunately) think we have long since passed the point where even removing the specialist system and fixing the literal mountain of problems this game has would do anything.

Short answer: having rainbow six siege style variety of loadouts in a game in a 64/128 player sandbox does not work.
Long answer:
I think the problem with they are meant to be viewed as highly specialised individuals with very unique skills, but the problem is everyone that in a game you have 40+ of the same 2 classes that can have an answer for everything. Considering the ammo bag is an all kit item, it's probably is a symptom of the sandbox that everyone goes around with health kits as time to kill is so fast that ammo isn't that much of a typical issue, however the health regen being slow means prioritizing healing. (Also the ammo specialist ability just beats the ammo box by an insane amount) The fact that they are both the medic specialists means that they can be far more aggressive in the current sandbox.

Ive been trying to understand why this isnt just a general option in EVERY game.
They had it in BF5 which leaves a bigger question mark as to why they didn't just do that but with modern uniforms.
