    Friendly HUD is a MUST HAVE. It hides the UI elements when out of combat, you can pause during dialogues and it's super customizable with a detailed in game menu. I'm surprised you didn't test it out cause you are really missing out.

    this is a great video! I really appreciate how incredible the graphic mods comparison section was, I know how difficult it is to record the same area and relaunch the game with mods enabled every time, so thank you for such a good showcase.
    you covered almost every popular mod, except for the Capes and Hoods mod! it's fucking amazing, it completely changes how cool Geralt looks and is a very very well made mod. Pair this with the Auto Hide Weapons mod (so that your swords and crossbows don't clip through the cape when they're holstered on your back) and you have a very different way of looking at Geralt. Best part is that all the capes, cloaks and hoods are available to purchase in game, and can be equipped in game too, so no need to fiddle around with settings to make it work like in the other appearance mods.

      You could use Auto Hide Weapons, but I would personally recommend "Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)" (yes that's the full name of the mod). It lets you customize how Geralt wears his sword, be that both on the hip, both on one shoulder, X-form on the back like in TW1, one on the hip and one on the back, and aside from the presets you can alter all the position and rotation values yourself for a custom setup. And you can set it to automatically put your swords on Roach when you mount and dismount. It takes a bit of tinkering to find a good configuration, and minor clipping is unavoidable if you're wearing a cape. But IMO it's way more immersive to wear your sword on your side, regardless of whether or not you wear a cape.
      Also, I prefer having Geralt's swords on his side because it's physically impossible to unsheathe a longsword from your back IRL without a custom scabbard, and Geralt has full scabbards on his swords.

    glad you mentioned STLM, I have the 3.2 ALT (darker/foggy novigrad) it looks so natural and realistic in game, it's by far the most consistent lighting mod. It makes the game so much more enjoyable, i was honestly shocked by the difference and i tried other lighting mods. For even more immersion Friendly HUD is a must have mod, you can make entire hud only appear in combat, it's entirely customizable in the mods menu, running around without hud is really immersive and if i need to check quest objective or the minimap all i gotta do is hold J or M, you also have 3d markers by using witcher sense so you won't be needing minimap very often

    In case someone watch this after the next gen patch there are many mods that incompatible with the newest patch, here's some of the example in this video.
    Hd project reworked: doesn't need anymore because they implemented this in the new patch
    Super turbo lighting mod: works but for DX11 version, i haven't tested for DX12 but it's likely glitchy
    Meadow: doesn't work anymore (all grass mods were broken due to the next gen update)
    Aqua: doesn't work anymore (there's alternative water mod for the next gen, if i remember it's enhanced water.)
    Atmospheric night: there's next gen version for this, so it works
    Autumn flora ench: never tried this
    Next gen candle: idk about this, better not to try it
    More shadow: it works
    Improved Sign: same as atmospheric night
    Autoloot: same as atmospheric night

    The coolest mod on the appearance of Geralt Gwynbleidd is Lore Friendly Geralt Retexture. I always use it. In this mod, the changes are made in moderation, tastefully and bring the image of the hero closer to the book look. At the same time, the mod is compatible with others, does not cause conflicts and bugs.
    And I think that mods like autoloot destroy the gameplay, deprive the game of the main thing - the player's interaction with the world.

    For Geralt's hair, I personally use "H2O - Heavy Hairworks Overhaul." It fixes the hair color and makes it look a lot denser and overall more like real hair IMO.
    I'd also suggest:
    All Quest Objectives On Map
    Friendly Hud (this is a must for me, and the first mod I downloaded for TW3, as I hate mini-maps in Open World games)
    Friendly Meditation
    Besserwisser
    Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style (swords and scabbards only)+Griffin Armour (On The Path) Update
    Alternate Ciri Leather Boots - No High Heels
    All NPC Scabbards
    Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)
    Accessory Slot Mod
    Hoods
    For lighting I use Wiedzmin Lighting Mod + True To Life Rework reshade setting.
    I'm not a huge fan of the vanilla Griffin set so I use "Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style" (only extract the "modmcswordsnscabbards" file from the archive) and use the "Griffin Armour (On The Path) Update" for the armor retexture. The "Updated" armor doesn't require the original mod, but it also doesn't affect the swords/scabbards, which is why you should install the sword file (but not the armor file) from the "Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style" archive.
    Sorry if that was a little ramble-y.
    Also if you're going to use the Feline armor, I recommend activating the "debug console" and giving yourself the invisible mask (I think it's the "Geralt robbery mask" or "witch hunter mask"), so you don't have to wear the stupid grandmaster hood. Unless, of course, you like the hood, in which case you should probably consult a doctor.
    And I would explicitly advise AGAINST using the "Critical Slow Motion Combat Mod" as it broke my game which appears to be a common occurrence, judging by the comments on that mod's Nexus page.

    It might be me, and I may be wrong, but I feel like some of the mods you showed (talking about graphics mods) were coupled with others during the showcase and thus those mods gave a different result than they should have. For instance the grass mod. It seems you're using the STLM mod. And duriing the STLM mod section in Novigrad during the night, it seems you're using the More shadows mod. Am I wrong?

    • @plaiimade
      @plaiimade  Před 2 lety +1

      No you are absolutely correct, when showcasing I just uninstalled the mod I wanted to compare to and left all the others installed. I thought it makes most sense for the comparison when only individual mods are uninstalled, since I am trying to present all the mods in this video combined as a good combination. So I didn't bother to show them one by one, hope that's still fine :)

I have a 3080ti and Intel 11600k and lost about 30fps on average plus frame time spikes started to exist when they didn't before, I lock my witcher 3 to 100fps but after editing those files it would drop below that and was stuttery, pity.

Otherwise there is sometimes information on the nexusmod page, or there are a lot of turtorials on youtube... I hope you'll find help, if not you can always ask in the comments!!

      @@plaiimade Oh well, for instance, I downloaded Geralt Hairworks (Geralt HW white Beard lessWhite-1.0-602-1-0.zip) mod, which doesn't have a read-me file, but in the description web page, it says, "- New optional file “GeraltHairWorks_realHair”: download contains 3 versions, check the readme inside for details."; thus, I'm confused. I now know that most of the time, all I need to do is copy a mod file to the "mods" folder or directory, but I have also see a few videos where someone uses a TW3 install manager together with TW3 script merger, and thus it gets me even more confused. Any help would be appreciated, and thank you for your previous reply.
      PS. If the game won't play after installing a MOD, do you just remove the MOD file, or uninstall TW3 game and then install it again?

    • @plaiimade
      @plaiimade  Před 2 lety

      @@orestesdd I'll try to clear up some things:
      - First of all there are different ways how you can install mods. One is by doing everything manually, so speaking putting the files into your "mods" folder etc. Another way to install mods is by using the TW3 mod manager and script merger. These are just two different ways to install mods, choose the one that you prefer, both should work fine.
      - Now if you drop the mod folder that you downloaded (for example: "modGeraltHWwhiteBeard") into your "mods" folder in the TW3 directory, that should be everything you need to do for most mods. So if you only download a mod folder, as you do for Geralt Hairworks, the mod should work after putting it into the "mods" folder.
      - If your game does not work because of a mod, delete the mod folder you installed and the game should be back to normal. You can say reinstalling TW3 is never necessary, unless your game still doesn't work, even after uninstalling all the mods. And that doesn't happen often. Now this is not the case with Geralt Hairworks but for other mods you'll need to change some things in your "bin" folder. Before you do that make sure to save your vanilla "bin" folder somewhere, so you can always copy it back incase something doesn't work. And with that you should always be good to go!

    • @plaiimade
      @plaiimade  Před 2 lety

      First of all, there are some problems between AQUA and HD Reworked Project. It might be incompatible or other say it does the same thing, so I'd recommend to leave AQUA away. The rest should work fine together, but you can always check for problems with a Script Merger. Performance-wise it did not change much, at least for me. I think I lost about 5-10 fps, but that does probably depend on your GPU. Best thing to do, would be to just install all the mods and see if they work fine for you, which they hopefully do :)

      First make sure that you are at the right path, when you're on desktop click the windows icon in the bottom left corner, then click the documents icon on the left side bar. Next find the The Witcher 3 folder that should be located somewhere in that documents folder. If you open it there should be a user.settings file. Next right click the file and choose to open it with editor, then you should be able to edit and change it. When I did this my file actually duplicated itself, so at the moment I have two user.settings documents. And I can only change/edit one of them, so you'll need to see what happens for you and edit the right document.
