Intro into Capcom vs SNK 2 part 4 (P Groove)

  • Part 4 of my intro into CVS2, this time going over the major aspects of P groove. I phrase it as low tier and high potential as parry is a strong mechanic but 80% guard meter and only 1 really long super meter deter it greatly. As such the amount of top level P groovers is really low.
    Any feedback is welcome and any information I might have missed please add in the comments section.

    Wow can't believe I forgot about this. You can parry 1 frame before you can block. This is useful for moves that are "semi" unsafe, some good examples are Rocks max range elbow dash and Bison's Scissor kick. At ranges where these would be unsafe you can use parry to try and cover it. (Can't use it to parry in between 1 frame links only after recovery of something)
    Eg: Bison's scissor kick is ruled that if it is blocked and hits twice it is unsafe while blocked and 1 hit is safe. But at the max range of the 2nd hit you can use parry to try and cover it, and if the opponent is off in their punish you get a parry and a punish them instead.

    Some small things: 1)you cannot parry during and about 1-2 frames after a short hop. 2)Ryo's super also continues if you parry first hit. 3) You cannot parry directly after a super freeze for a few frames (so if you try and parry a wake up super after the super freeze it will not parry, you will have to parry before the super flash).

      Ur Momma what i meant was that the reason P groove has short hop unlike the other Capcom grooves is because 3s has "command overhead"

    P grove is the way for me. Short hop and regular dash is so nice

    The P-Groove on EO version is better than the arcade version. The P-Groove on EO has special move cancel to super move like in 3rd Strike.

    It is NOT the same as 3rd strike. Sf was way easier
