I remember these commercials from when I was a little kid. Those 88-98 chevy trucks were, in my opinion, some of the best looking and performing trucks ever made
He is pretty wrong about the performance part. A 1988 Silverado with the largest engine - a 7.4L V8, would put out 230hp. A 2023 Silverado puts out 420hp out of a smaller 6.7L engine that gets about twice the gas mileage. The torque is also about twice as much at 460ft-lbs.

The funny thing is, it almost wasn’t going to be Like A Rock. Originally, Chevrolet wanted to use Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." for the ads, but as usual when companies approach him for using his songs in advertising, Springsteen refused. So they ended going with Bob Seger's "Like a Rock" instead.

The best chevy commercial(s) ever. Ever since I was a young kid after I saw this commercial I could just envision a Silverado blazing up a dirt hill with no struggle at all, and still, I want a 90s Silverado. Quite a badass looking and quality made truck.
So 7th grade I remember the science teacher describing some kind of geology stuff, and at some point end with, 'its like a rock.' I instantly burst out into this song. Got a laugh from everyone, including the teacher, but then he told me I had go sit outside the rest of the class.

Scottsdale cab and a 454 four barrel runnin 275 horse right from the factory. 4:10 posi rear end w/16.5 tires An old retired guy sold it to me, and told me I was the 3rd owner. What a diamond.
I know someone who used to have a scottsdale with a great custom paint job, got it for $50 because it had bullet holes in the engine bay, lead fused to the block, and rusted out floor panels so bad you could watch the road go by through them. he drove it home, put a little work into it, and had a truck that he held onto for four years until he found something better, and decided to sell it. That was 15 years ago, I saw that truck going down the highway back in 2020, and couldn't believe my eyes, it had a few more rust holes, still had the same bullet ridden hood, and the frame looked like it was sagging a little, but sure enough it was the same truck

I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 LS and she still runs like a top almost 20 years later. They definitely chose a fitting motto for these trucks.

Damn this commercial just wiped out every other modern day commercial. None of it feels imposing or pretentious - just people being people.
