My dad has a 1992 Chevy K2500 Silverado with about 200k miles on it. Extended cab long bed with 6.2 diesel. My dad takes great care of it and it's pretty much like new condition. That truck is an abolute pleasure to drive.
jose oyervidez because people don't just buy trucks for hauling stuff anymore that's why we have the 2017 Honda Ridgeline for people who don't haul stuff just tailgate partys it's sad because these new Chevy commicrals are garbage
Out where I live I see tons of these OBS Chevy trucks still on the road today and even a few square bodies. We have typical winters so some are rusty while others look brand new after 20 or more years. These trucks are truly built like a rock.
same here in my area of tx, I really want one, I currently have a reg cab 95 5.2 v8 dodge ram and it gets me from a to b reliably but would absolutely love an extended cab 88-98 black chevy truck....ahh one day :)
Well my 1995 turbodiesel Suburban just turned 217,000. Just completed a 13 hr drive to and from NC towing a Ford F150 atop a tandem axle trailer. Ran like a champ amd still drives great. Like a ROCK
They're great trucks. I remember them brand new when I was a kid. Two weeks ago I got a 1998 GMC Yukon, it's close enough. 🎵🎶Like a rock, OH, LIKE A ROCK!🎶🎵
My 1988 K2500 has 118,400 something and change miles on the odometer and she's sill running strong no complains from the mouth of the 3rd owner of this truck.
Bought a 92 k1500 the other day, 5.7, 4x4, extended cab regular bed. 96,000 original miles. Stoked, best trucks for the money regardless of make or year!
My grandfather bought his 1990 Silverado 1500 350 brand new. He passed away in 2001. My dad got his truck, drove it himself until he retired in 2008 and then i used it strictly for work. The ONLY thing i replaced in that truck was normal wear and tear parts and a used tranny. The motor was 100% original and i got 323,000 miles out of her. I hated to part with it cause it was sentimental too me but it was too much to fix. It was nickle and diming me at the end plus the headgasket blew.
had a 92 k3500 i bought it from a rancher in wyoming for 900 it had the 454 towanda engine 5 speed and i guess he special ordered 4.56 gears i drove it for 11 yrs after i bought it it never got stuck and had alot of pulling power mpg was 8 to 9 but it was a beast
Another DB2 6.5'er here, coming up on 290k miles, daily driver. 1994 K2500, -I am not always nice to it either. Good trucks, IFS is kinda iffy, but otherwise....
Got a 2000 Silverado with 280k on the clock ALL original except brakes, tires, and battery. Even original plugs and wires, it still fires right up and runs like a bat outta hell.
I just bought a '95 Silverado Reg. cab for $1,400. the repair cost is going to be around $1,000 but it'll be worth it. Then, i'll be on the road in my 5.7 V8.
Phil Mante i just bought a 92 regular cab with the 5.7 for 1k probably going to cost another 1k to get her back on the road but motor is still going strong and it has 304k kilometers on it
I have a 93 z71 silverado, Burgundy like the one in this video, 5.7 350 small block, head swap and carb, pulls like a freight train, would never sell it. Headers, no cats, and flowmaster 40 mufflers.
andrew donohue Nice, I no longer have the Camaro anymore. I sold it a little while after I graduated high school. Fun car. The LT1 cars ain't bad either.
opti-spark isnt the worlds best design but the engine is otherwise reliable and strong. back in its day it was one of the most powerful V8's available. the 4.6 2v mustang GT was a joke
andrew donohue ya that's the achilles heel of the LT1, but other than that they are decent like you said. LT1 cars have no problem eating up 2v 4.6 Mustangs. Those things are turds, the only way to make power with them is with boost and their bottom ends can't handle it. Trying to make respectable power NA with a 2v 4.6 is embarassing lol. There's a reason why Ford guys stuck with their pushrod Windsor stuff for so long until the 4v 4.6 in the Mach 1 and Cobras came out. Those are actually decent, especially the one in the 03/04 Cobras. The Ford Modular engines have come a LONG way, but at the end of the day the fastest Fords out there are still pushrod engines, whether it be small block Fords or big block Fords. Pushrod for the win.
1992 was the first year for the OBS SUVs & crew cab pickups. Rewind to 1988 which was the first year for OBSs, they only came in regular & new extended cab pickup models at the time because crew cab pickup & SUV models with the previous square body design were still in production up through 1991.
They are great trucks one you fix the little defects. I have a 1998 1500 with 325,000 miles original trans and engine. It runs great and will still screech the tires from a stop. An after market transmission cooler is a must for these trucks even if you don't do a lot of towing.
These trucks we're the last great trucks. I had a 1988 S10 2wd, now have a 1992 K2500 4wd and 1994 S10 2wd. Also had a 1990 Ford Ranger. All great trucks from that era. This commercial made me cry!😢
Back in the day when a truck was still a truck.i wish chevy still made them like that.they can make a line of ozone friendly fuel efficient carish kind for the tree huggers but dam i miss a good ole reliable truck
Most dependable? Yes sir, my dad's '98 Z71 stepside ext cab still kicking since day 1 creeping up on 200k miles and My 2003 pewter metallic 5.3 also running like a champ. "And it's The Truck By Chevrolet, Ohhh Like a Rock". 😎
this commercial is bad ass! This is 100% true, my 98 chevy z71 is going strong with 243,000 kilometers. My friends 97 z71 has 300,000 km, my other friends 98 z71 has 310,000 km, and his 90 chevy has 450 000 kilometers.
I've had chevy trucks since I was in high school. I still do I've got a 1991 4wd chevy pickup standard shift I use everyday for work this truck has been the best truck I've owned I dare anyone to out pull or carry more weight itsA 15000 series I've had 2000 pounds of concrete more than once in short BEAST MODE. ALWAYS. !!!!!
Since we'll always have people fighting over whether Chevy or Ford makes better trucks, I'll say this. Even if Ford actually does have a better truck to offer, I never remembered any of their commercials. Like a Rock Chevy trucks is a part of my childhood. :0
I've had 4 models of the S10 ,95,96,01zr2, and a '00 blazer my blazer has 187k miles and still going strong other than replacing worn out parts I would still like to have another ZR2 best truck I ever had, like a Rock❤
Love these trucks. Dont understand why someone would buy a brand new one. You buy a decent quality 90s or early 00s truck, throw 20k at it, and you have a truck just as dependable, reliable, powerful, and comfortable, and have still saved 10-50k
I grew up with Chevy trucks..some h better than a Toyota.. Hell I'd take a ford over a Toyota. If that were my only choices and I don't like ford.. I don't know what it is but Gm vehicles have heart and a soul..other makes are just hunks of metal. I love getting into our cadillac escalade which is a Chevy Tahoe. I miss pontiac and Saturn. I wish they could have been saved but we are Members of the General Motors family and will buy nothing else.
I'm just looking at the local classified ads for trucks from 1994 and older, there are more Chevys and GMCs than any other make. If your going to pay $35,000+ for a new truck it's nice knowing that they can run that long.
We had a 1993 Astro van "best looking vans ever" we sold it about 3 years and the man has already put another 100,000 miles on it it had 289,000 when we sold it and now as of last week it has 391,900
I think a lot of people might over look it but to me, these old videos represent strictly American culture. And I believe that is one of the many reasons we are the greatest nation on earth. We work hard we worked together. and we made it happen. WE THE PEOPLE will treat you with the same respect and you give un to us and if there is ever anything you need we will do our best to help. we don't care what corner of the earth you come from, And we don't care what your culture is. we need to bring that back for our children and many generations to come and spread it world wide. love your neighbor such as thy self. not trying to be biblical or anything like that. but that is what this world needs. can you imagine what a great union we would be. wake up where ever you are. And be kind and work hard to do better and you will have self appreciation and much much more.
+John Czech Sports Media Network if the body and frame arent rotten beyond repair rebuild the suspension with poly urethane bushings, new shocks, tie rods, ball joints, sway bar end links, ect. you could probably rebuild the entire suspension for $3-400 with an alignment. these trucks are worth keeping, they arent going to make them like this ever again. they are too complex now and their is no going back. the 350 TBI will go allot further then 208K if you take care of it. i have a 1996 camaro with the old LT1 which has the same bottom end as a 350, 215K and still running decent. i have rebuild allot of the suspension i have a little bit left to do and the car will have all new suspension parts. it will be nice because it rattled at squeaked pretty bad. go to rockauto.com and you can buy whatever you want at great prices. you can go cheaper aftermarket or they sell genuine AC delco as well. keep that truck if its still in reasonable enough shape. you will have bragging rights, hundreds of thousands of miles
TheKJProductionz 400K is allot i was thinking that my LT1 is maybe starting to get tired, maybe its not..... it might be high in mileage but it runs strong
GM's trucks were the envy of the world. No one could touch them from 1973-1998. They were tough and lasted forever. Ford tried their best, they sold more but quantity does not dictate quality and Dodge put a medium duty motor in their trucks in the 80's and still had nothing on GM. It wasn't until 1999 when Ford set the standard for trucks with their SuperDuty that I consider GM lost the torch but the GMT-400 was the best of it's day and I bet many company meeting at Ford and Chryslers headquarters were focused on how to outdo that particular platform
I like how every single truck from the S10 to the 3500 is always seen bouncing through muddy or rocky roads.
Or 10000 lbs of bricks and stone being dropped into the bed at a construction site.
The old SIlverados are still going strong. This truck was no bullshit
SabbraCadabra nope and this TV commicral makes me want to cry
GrizzlySkoal cool now it's 25 years old and still going strong
SabbraCadabra my dad still has his 2001 silverado with 200k miles still running perfectly

My dad has a 1992 Chevy K2500 Silverado with about 200k miles on it. Extended cab long bed with 6.2 diesel. My dad takes great care of it and it's pretty much like new condition. That truck is an abolute pleasure to drive.
Is the dash cracked ?
Apparently mud bogging was popular in the 1990's!
rhino250r yes
My uncle has an 01 Tahoe LT with 350,00km. It's been all over North America. It is a true warrior.
These commercials are bringing back memories lol.
Reminds me of the 88 Silverado I used to have.
why cant chevy do truck commercials like this anymore lol
jose oyervidez because people don't just buy trucks for hauling stuff anymore that's why we have the 2017 Honda Ridgeline for people who don't haul stuff just tailgate partys it's sad because these new Chevy commicrals are garbage
That's why I watch these ads and not the new ones.
Because the new chevys just break.
jose oyervidez its not what you can do for your chevy its what your chevy can do for you
Trucks today are💩💩💩💩💩💩
Out where I live I see tons of these OBS Chevy trucks still on the road today and even a few square bodies. We have typical winters so some are rusty while others look brand new after 20 or more years. These trucks are truly built like a rock.
Hell yeah obs chevy trucks are bad ass.
yeah like Bob Seger said
same here in my area of tx, I really want one, I currently have a reg cab 95 5.2 v8 dodge ram and it gets me from a to b reliably but would absolutely love an extended cab 88-98 black chevy truck....ahh one day :)
Same thing in Antelope California
Got a 98 Silverado..owned it 14 years..insanely dependable..never parting with my Z71.

Well my 1995 turbodiesel Suburban just turned 217,000. Just completed a 13 hr drive to and from NC towing a Ford F150 atop a tandem axle trailer. Ran like a champ amd still drives great. Like a ROCK

90s gm trucks are the toughest out of all of them
Nope! 70s
The ninetys is when they started making the trucks out of 90% plastic
73-95 were the best for me
marco chavez early 90s were still good. The plastic came with the vortec
Vortec in the 90s were garbage
My grandfather bought his 1990 Silverado 1500 350 brand new. He passed away in 2001. My dad got his truck, drove it himself until he retired in 2008 and then i used it strictly for work. The ONLY thing i replaced in that truck was normal wear and tear parts and a used tranny. The motor was 100% original and i got 323,000 miles out of her. I hated to part with it cause it was sentimental too me but it was too much to fix. It was nickle and diming me at the end plus the headgasket blew.

Like a rock!!
Put the old 88-98 C/K back into production, call it a 2019 and itd still sell better than the new Ford/RAM/Toyota/Nissan.
1998 Camaro Z/28, 1989 C1500 Silverado, now I'm in a 2004 Silverado 2500 LS. Loved them all.
+Marcus Mar you have an LS1 camaro i have an LT1 camaro 1996 model year
andrew donohue Nice, I no longer have the Camaro anymore. I sold it a little while after I graduated high school. Fun car. The LT1 cars ain't bad either.

I have a 92' 1500 with 208,000 miles on it. Suspension is shot but the 350 won't die!
Im over 400k miles no oil leaks, with bolt ons. And breaks my tires with ease.

400K is allot i was thinking that my LT1 is maybe starting to get tired, maybe its not..... it might be high in mileage but it runs strong

hell yeah...dually blastin sideways in the mud at .59 seconds
GM's trucks were the envy of the world. No one could touch them from 1973-1998. They were tough and lasted forever. Ford tried their best, they sold more but quantity does not dictate quality and Dodge put a medium duty motor in their trucks in the 80's and still had nothing on GM. It wasn't until 1999 when Ford set the standard for trucks with their SuperDuty that I consider GM lost the torch but the GMT-400 was the best of it's day and I bet many company meeting at Ford and Chryslers headquarters were focused on how to outdo that particular platform
