I’m only 18 years old and I gotta say these monster trucks got more charisma that the monster trucks today. I grew with max d grave digger you know the rest, but the retro ones look way nicer that the ones we have today. kinda looks like toys but badass toys. You can tell they had legit fun doing these competitions, crush, tearing a car appart (i didn’t know), mud racing, racing and pulling a sled. They also did some of these competitions outside. it would have been special era to live in. But today is not that bad too. I can happily enjoy watching those tapes anytime I want to rather than going out and renting a tape.
There's a grainy audience shot video of the first public appearance bigfoot made at the silverdome in 1983, where he did his car crushing exhibition and the crowd went so crazy that they invaded the floor of the stadium just to see the truck up close. Bob Chandler has said that he had to turn the engine off lie down on the floor of the cab and hide the keys for the entire 15 minutes it took for security too clear the floor because he thought someone was going to try and steal the truck.
Born in '86 and I used to watch this and Bigfoot in Action 1 religiously when I was a kid. The trucks back then were built from the ground up using actual pickup trucks. There were no turn-key trucks or chassis packages you could buy back in these days, so each monster truck seemed to have it's own personality. The sport does indeed seem to be missing the originality of the 80s.
This event here looks like a fairgrounds Circus show. Instead of clowns and various animals doing things, is another type of novelty. Which seized to be a novelty and transformed into a competitive show. These early monster trucks couldn't do anything the present day ones are doing. That stiff suspension would lead to an instant disassembly on their first jump. Is a slow but steady evolution over time of these beasts to get where we are today 40 years later, seeing as how Grave Digger celebrated it last year.
Dude! Had this on tape years ago! Still remember that "wind up key" on Bear Foot!:) I still vividly remember that scene with the mud buggy taking off into the stands. That was some scary shit!
I remember my mom renting this movie for me multiple times from the local video store when I was a kid. brings back so many memories thanks for the upload!!
Damn...If this doesn't scream AMERICA! I don't know what does...These early shows were so awesome! Got to see a few oldschool ones as a kid, and had SEVERAL of these VHS tapes growing up, and a huge fan of Monster Jam...Thanks to the man who started it all The legendary Bob Chandler n that 1974 Ford BIGFOOT
I've gotta say, my parents rented this for me literally every week from Video Vault when I was six and to know Outlaw 35 is rotting in a field while the guy refuses to sell is like watching my childhood decay.
Back then: Safety belts? Fuck that? Helmets? Fuck that! Fiber glass bodies? FUCK THAT! Peterbilt caps, Hut Hogan mustaches and mullets all the way! That's ma safety!
@ 20:27 that lady Paula Harbuck flipped over Fred Shafer's "Bearfoot" monster truck right around this same time, maybe the prior season. It was in War of the Monster Trucks. I was surprised to see her here involved in mud racing.
Best musical soundtrack of all monster truck videos by far in my opinion. Gets me hyped every time!
In the mid 90's, when I was about 5 years old, my parents used to take me to Video Vault and let me pick a movie. It was ALWAYS this.
me and my older brother grew up watching this thousands of times you know what they say great minds think alike
I used to rent it so often, that the store owners gave the VHS to me haha
@@teoteagueosborne Apparently 5yr old me dropped the ball.

So many really nice all steel bodied, pre tube chassis trucks!! I liked Outlaw '35 the most. The just look nicer than today's trucks.
Sadly last I saw it's been left to rot in the middle of the woods all faded with the engine removed 😢
I was born in 87 and used to watch this video to death! This and Blood, sweat & gears. Monster trucks today seem to be missing something...
Crush This was great

I think what's missing to me is the square bodies shorter wheelbases and chunkier tires

back when monster trucks were made from actual vehicles
Damn it hurt to watch them crush that what 62 Caddy
That’s the most BA thing you could do with that type of monster truck. Impressive AF
11:11 Damn! That jump is terrifying!
I had this transferred from the original VHS onto a DVD. Need to digitize.
Real trucks,Literally!Leaf springing bobbers
also real car crushing action
I've gotta say, my parents rented this for me literally every week from Video Vault when I was six and to know Outlaw 35 is rotting in a field while the guy refuses to sell is like watching my childhood decay.
I miss going to sporting events like this and seeing the flashes from the cameras in the stands.Technology is gr8 now, but I miss those simpler times.
I used to have this VHS
I was around when the monster trucks started so that tells you how old I am
I love the bus crush segment by Taurus. Buses like those make great obstacles.
Thanks for uploading this. Im 26 and i had this on vhs watched it over and over and forgot about it. Now i get to show my son!
I remember getting this VHS from the book fair as a kid.
Why dont they bring back these type of event's today?
they are around but not as big as they was
Back then: Safety belts? Fuck that? Helmets? Fuck that! Fiber glass bodies? FUCK THAT! Peterbilt caps, Hut Hogan mustaches and mullets all the way! That's ma safety!

Now were talking, proper monster truck, not the garbage Monster Jam offers.
4 words
The pumpkin
The dodge
the music though 👌 wish I could find a soundtrack
The music is performed by the band Missouri. A Best Of CD can be had on EBay. Well worth it.
The music was performed by Ron West and the band "Missouri". I bought a "Best Of" CD on Ebay, which has nearly all of the songs. Well worth the $
Poor Beetle =(
What timestamp?
Couple of Near misses around 6min
She is the winner of the mud truck
Makes me wonder if any of those monster trucks featured still exist today
Some of them do, in different forms. Most of them were chopped up and parted out/scrapped.
Outlaw 35 was left rotting with fading paint out in the woods somewhere, I saw it on a YT video
murica!
Classic
Trucks back then looked bigger
his is the magical shit from he 80s. Just get Blackie Lawless to do some lines on top of one of those things & we could have he best of the 80s.
Whats that song in the beginning?
People like destruction...
Taurus is using horsepower?
I'm not entirely sure but I don't think that one commentator likes his mother in law very much.
Too bad no classic video on u.s.a 1..or other early 1980s super trucks
what was that first song
Nathan Kaufman I got this tape when I was 2 I'm 31 now you just solved a life long mystery
I know the feels. I'm 33 and always wanted to know. lol
Moving On, by Missouri
I seen king krunch beat grave digger once lol
What were the cars Outlaw crushed one maybe looks like a Mustang II
Because it was a Mustang II
Was that the white car at 2:21?
Bearfoor is created by summit
You may be talking about Bigfoot and if that’s the case, summit is a sponsor
Bigfoot 😣🛻😣🛻🛻😣
it's kinda shitty we fucked all them classic cars.
look at all the empty seats....
Missy Whitmore well it was the 80"s the sport did not evolve yet.
No bigfoot or grave digger is why
This is so wasteful! Some of those cars would have been great for demolition derby! It just makes me MAD...
You are an idiot
then why are you watchin
The irony.
I'm going to have to agree with Jeff. You're not very bright.
Back in the day, those were just junk cars, nobody counted on them becoming collectable or desirable so nobody cared.
