Almost a Freedom Fox! Finally Got a Kitfox 5 - River Run!

- Today I ventured out for some Kitfox 5 Therapy and took the opportunity to do a little river running. I finally got a flyable Kitfox 5 in the stable and am gettin' it figured out. I should be getting more practice in the Storch prior to heading to Oskosh in a few days, but this is just so much fun, I had to do it. I hope that y'all will enjoy just chilling out with me as I fly down the river an around Stillhouse lake outside of Belton, TX.
This Kitfox is basically what Trent Palmer started out with. It is a basic model 5 with a Rotax 912 uls, Grove gear, and tiny tires. It does have a nice Garmin G5, and Stratus transponder with ADS-b in and out. So far it's a lot of fun. With it's red, white and blue color scheme it does remind me of the Freedom Fox too. Who know's where this will lead? I do know I need to get some fat tires before the "Fat Tire Cowboys" disown me! ha ha ha. Maybe Mike Patey will invite me to be a Flying Cowboy though.... I do have a hat!
Of course this little island is nothing like the mountain top landings and back country strips that Cory Robin, Trent Palmer, Steve Henry and all of the Flying cowboys get to play on out west, but it's a neat place none the less. Not quite Idaho, Utah or Nevada, but it's fun!
I hope y'all like this for a change of pace.... I'll be posting some videos with Juli in the Bonanza soon. I also have some vidoe of the Storch giving rides to USMC Marine ATC out at Yuma Arizona.... and lot's of other fun stuff coming up.

Levi, great video nice flight. Just curious what did you set your Propellar pitch at? Mine is set at 11 degrees with the Rotax 582 wood Propellar, climbs great , but I’m slow, 65 to 70 mph indicated. Thank you hope to see you at Oshkosh. Cheers from Kcmx ✈️
Funny thing about the IVO prop... I don't really know the degrees. There is a single nut on the hub under the spinner. I loosened it up 2 turns, flew the plane, it was too much, turned it back 1/2 turn, flew the plane, turned it back another 1/2 turn. That's where it is now. The IVO twists the blades to change the pitch and I don't have a reliable source to tell me where to set the degrees!... Plus, this is much different than the 582 so I recommend that you do a similar procedure, but checking the static RPMs is a good idea before you fly. on the 582 I believe 6300 static rpms is a good place to start.

It was/is a fun plane... I didn't keep it though, I got a Supercub so I could provide Tailwheel flight training and give tailwheel endorsements. The guy who bought it has become a good friend and I was able to fly it with him. He is loving it! Thanks for watching and the comment. Blue Skies!
