Idaho to Washington and Montana then back home to Redding. Follow along as we explore the north backcountry and discover some great new to us locations.
The school bus at Seeley Lake is just awesome. Hope you enjoyed a nice Bayburger at Lindey’s Landing while you were there. Thanks for sharing this great trip with your fans!
I've been waching your channel since before and after the kit fox build and I must say you got me at "I Traded the Kitfox for a Cessna 180" a perfect clickbait line. Sorry you had a slow bumpy ride home, but that's flying. To me, flying is like fishing, a bad day of flying or fishing is so much better than a good day at work. The 180 is a Cadilliac in comparison to a light weight kit plane. Keep up the good content and keep soaring with the eagles.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. It was fun to revisit some of the strips in ID and see so many new ones in WA & MT. Your trip home made me laugh, because while it was worse than mine it was similar. My usual times from Root Ranch to Caldwell in my Husky is 1.3 hours and from Caldwell to Rancho Murieta is 3.8. Near the end of June my times were 1.8 and 4.5, which too had me down to 70 kts in Northern NV and wondering if I was going to need to gas in Reno. Thank you for sharing.
Been a while since I checked in- you were dealing with overheating issues. Even though this last leg looked brutal- I bet you're still pretty stoked that you built this thing- heck I'm stoked because I got to watch you build it. Rad dude!
10:50 - Yup, that's a fancy looking house. What. A. View. Man.....!!!!! Took a bit of searching but I discovered the location on Google maps. It sure is a beautiful place. 30:27 - hahaha, the sofa in the back on the van is a classic. Great video Bryan. The incidental music from Liz to accompany the flying was a nice touch.
I would say you are a VERY lucky person. There are a lot of us that have very fond memories of flights that didn't go as planned , but they were still flights that most people in this flying biz only dream about. You either pay on one end or the other. Horsepower &$ or more time in the air & less expense. Liked you video and your photography. Blue skies and tailwinds or whatever wind you can get under your wings.
It was great to see you at the kitfox fly in! Maybe next time to head up to Idaho I will have more days off to play in the backcountry! Montana looked like a beautiful area to check out!
Bought my 185 at Deer Park. It was in December, though. Guy who sold it to me is a heli pilot also. That singer is really good; wish I knew her name! - edit - found it in the transcript. Thanks for taking the time to put the songs in and the good technical commentary about these flights, the area and the landings.
Great trip. I think your kitfox buddies were making their way back home from Oshkosh. There were a lot of Kitfoxes there. I didn’t see your plane there.
Picabo ID, south of Hailey a bit, has long had a policy that allows pilots to get mogas at their pumps, and yes they have E-0. BUT, don't be a tourist and taxi right up to them, shut down 20' or so away and push it closer. Mackay has E-0 mogas a 2 minute walk from the north end of the strip, where there's a big enough area to park out of the way. Leadore has a station within walking distance, no E-0. I've burned a fair bit of E-10 with no issues and I'll take it instead of AVGAS! Looked like a typical bumpy ass summer day on the Idaho high desert!
Haha!! Karma sucks!! Remember that time I flew the Sierras twice in one day for my wingman? I still feel the effects of whiplash! Great adventure and video brother! 🤙🏼
Finally im caught up. Don't know if you're getting the thumbs up on the fire stick. So I've been flashing back to my CZcams on my phone. I'll never do this .With that said im glad for you channel step by stepping the process. I've always been curious about these things. Honestly this is what i would have chosen. Wanted some details when i tuned in. Hope you make a lot of money for your diligence.
Dude, you were in Deer Park. I wish I had known, I would have stopped by and said hi. I sold my K-5 and now own a Luscombe 8E with a 160hp lycoming. Look me up the next time you're at KDEW.
Wow I didn't know you can engine up a luscombe ad with 160 horse like on me is it permissible will apparently they're frame will handle it that's a hot rod
I had a similar experience on my trip back to SoCal from Idaho a couple weeks back. Beautiful mornings turning into horrible headwind afternoons. Another great video Bryan.
I've been seriously wanting to get my pilot's license and build a kit fox or Highlander, but never had the time or money. Especially the money. I can tell you this though, I absolutely love shooting ground squirrels. If there is a spot I can fly to and shoot ground squirrels, I will be redoubling my efforts to get my pilot's license and a plane.
Are you Happy with the landing gear you have? I have the Kitfox bush gear, but I'm thinking about going back to the Gove gear. Just so much drag with the bush gear. Its nice but it cost a lot in speed.
I forgot you said in part 1 that part 2 will be in “dads 180” and when I seen the title I thought you were out of your mind lol I mean a 180 is a hell of a plane but it’s no kitfox in the backcountry!
love the video but when you said you were not gonna tell where the house was, but then you said the back drop behind the stage..... that "sitting" area outside is a big land mark and took less than a minute to find it.... the proof is the tree lined driveway
Thanks for taking us along. This is great content. I wish my dad was still around to do my trips with.
Fantastic scenery! Awesome vid...thanks for sharing

Yeah was thinking that was a, “noooo moment myself. 😂

Excellent video, very enjoyable to watch. Cheers from Winnipeg.
Great video as always, cool to seem some new strips as well. Liz’s voice is amazing

Pretty cool trip. Thank you for sharing.

Hey I used to work on 12G! Glad to see it out getting flown. Great video Brian.

Looks like a great trip. Say Hey to your Dad for me. Love his 180!
Nice music to accompany a great trip Bryan! It looks a whole lot of fun, except the windy leg...

What an adventure!!! totally awesome... To bad you have to go back to work!!!
Ben there, that kind of flying is exhausting!

Dude, am new to your channel but, damn that artist is got great vocals! Never heard of her either even though it's cover songs she freaking great!

Enjoyed.

Bryan, love the background music. Really does your flying videos lots of justice. As usual, thanks for sharing. From New Zealand.

Good on you ,swapped your dirt bike for an off-road truck
When I saw the title of the video I thought you had made a permanent change to the C180. Glad that's not the case.

Holy hell. 10,000 rpm!

What engine do you have, and how much HP? (EDIT: I think you said the Apex) I'm looking to buy a kitfox, but am only finding 912 or 914 non turbo.
Its a yamaha Apex Series motor, 160HP
@@haydengreen3821 Not trying to be an asshat but I think they’re 150HP stock. You can build them up to 300HP though.
@@JustSomeGuy38790 See the big ole sticker on the cowling that says Apex 160HP Turnkey Engines? Thats where i got my information.

Stocker
Nice video Bryan. Who is the artist for for the song "Dreams" that was playing during your visit to Sullivan Lake??
Liz Longley
@@BowenAero I saw Liz Longley at a small music venue in LaSalle Illinois a few years ago. Beautiful voice !!
That was a ROUGH flight home.
Imagine how much worse this would have been with the shock monster landing gear still on!!!
Do you have to pay a landing fee at all those airports ?
No fee but a call ahead for permission. There was a museum fee at Stonehenge.
That's great if you can afford a 180 I guess you got a quarter of a million dollars laying around you don't need.
A fireman doesn’t make enough money to afford a place like that. Something stinks
