    Back when I was towing gliders, some of us wore helmets at the laughter of many of the others in the crew. One day, we had a gear collapse where the gear folded and came in through the port window and almost took out the P1. People took the helmet issue a bit more seriously after that incident and we had NDT on the gear legs on a maint cycle. I personally wore an old SPH4 with civ electronics. I think the key is wear proper PPE for the task you're doing and for the "unexpected".

    This video is completely saving my bacon. I have an older 7SS kit that I'm finishing and the 2010 vintage instructions get really vague about installing the plexi on the door frames. Fortunately I'd watched this a first time prior to attempting to follow the instructions and you're now with me step by step for the actual install. I'll definitely be ordering the butt rib closeouts too

    why the Vg whit the slat on the wing ? and for the tail , on the pegazair i have the same tail as the zenith , but the stabilizator is trimable like a supercub , thank for video , very instructive !!

    I know nothing about putting this power plant into these aircraft. What is the need for more power at cruise? Is it really just not enough power or you don’t like the RPM? With proper maintenance those particulate doesn’t have any known longevity issues with a fairly high RPM. They are quite literally designed for it. The load is very low on them during a cruise situation. It is a DOHC 5 valve engine. Is there much use of the 3 cyl 4 valve engines in the Kit Fox? Power N/A is similar at about a 20% lower RPM. Camshaft profile maybe something to try. What max RPM do you operate the engine at? Because if you can live with less max RPM power changing the profile may help a little. You probably already know that on sleds we run the 4 cylinder up around 10,500 RPM vice 8500 RPM with the 3 cyl. But the 3 cyl is a bit less responsive and not quite as smooth. But the 3 cyl is lighter and newer ones are a bit more boost friendly as you mentioned. Just thoughts. These videos are a bit old and you are probably past this. Thanks again.

    Me personally, I treat snowmobile repairs of all kind as if they were A/C engine. My reasoning is that I don’t need to be out in the middle of the UP after dark when it’s -15 or worse with a failure. An engine failure especially because it’s light and maybe a little heat. It’s not a dead stick situation but still a potentially dangerous situation. Btw, I used to build, tune and race my own built turbo and supercharged cars. I retired from that and got into sleds. 2 Rages, 1 Rx1, an Apex and a few two-smokes. I guy decent units and completely restore them. I also have a little aviation experience as a flight engineer in the Marines. Thanks for the videos.

    Nice…. A $250 total outside retail part for $500 just because this cat wants to live in the middle of nowhere….. ? Alaska and Hawaii are just plan shipping nightmares in either direction and will be for ever ! Excellent vid though….

    What filament material was used for the 3D printed ribs? There are lots of filaments, including some with nylon glass or carbon fiber particles in it which help strength, but if the base filament is PLA or anything that's not ready for serious heat (also unpainted/near-black parts) might want to reconsider using 3DP parts. I'd test the temp of those at the end of a hot sunny day and compare to the filament glass transition point (PLA is 140 F, NylonGlass is 158 F, PETG is 176 F, ABS is 221 F). I'd verify that filament & check what real temps end up being. Improvement and possible minute weight shaving would be to use the 3DP to make rib molds and he can use the same CF vacuum/oven setup as the primary fairing for those small parts then there's no risk of any material heat breakdown. I'm a huge fan of real world usable 3DP parts btw, but I also worked USAF ASM and have burned myself enough times on Hercs to know tarmac temps can get wild.

    Great idea! I chose to reverse the butt ribs as you suggest to gain more edge distance for the acrylic holes. I'll be fitting the windshield pretty soon, so we'll see how it all works out. I may also let the acrylic extend beyond the butt rib a bit. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I don't see why it cannot/should not simply overlap part of the wing transition rib (STi wing). I chose to close up the butt ribs by putting a 1/16" clear polycarbonate sheet over the outside. There's just enough clearance for the fuel gage to not rub against the window.

      @@jeremykemp3782 yes, it's worked out fine. Butt ribs are painted and installed. Turtle deck has been fitted. Wings are about to come back off to make room for boot cowl and windshield fitting. I would definitely do it this way again.

      @@jeremykemp3782 as far as I know the butt ribs are the same. The STi wing includes a transition rib that (I'm almost certain) is the sport wing airfoil. And the butt rib matches to the transition rib.

    The succes and adoption on the Apex is based on one proprietary PSRU. Suzuki would be my choice , Arctic Cat has used them for years, but no PSRU available for them.

    65% Cruise is 8800 RPM? Has this engine flown to pieces yet? These sled engines are designed to put a lot of power out thru a small/light block and be pushed hard. And they do put it out. They also blow up and burn out all the time. As someone who owned sleds and hangs around with guys who sled, you never go out alone, etc because these machines break down constantly. Annoying on a mountain with buddies, terrifying if alone in the air.

      @@BowenAero Dirtbikes like the KX 250 put out 40 HP from 250cc 6.25cc/hp at 14,000 rpm The motors tend to need top end rebuilds every 50ish hours or fail catastrophically. Rotax 915 135hp tbo 10cc/hp 5800 rpm1200 hours max output 5min only Df140 Outboard 127 hp at 6000 rpm 15.9cc/hp 1500 tbo (constant cold water cooling) Rotax 912S 100hp 5300 rpm 13.5cc/hp tbo 2000 hours (v expensive should expect high end metallurgy and manufacturing tolerances) 0-320 5.2L 32.5 cc/hp max rpm 3000 tbo 2000 hours I plotted a chart of rpm/cc/hp to relate those two vs tbo Your apex puts out what? 150hp at 12000 rpm from 1 liter? 6.66cc/hp and 12000 rpm via a crude regression analysis puts a tbo of around 700 hours. However as the apex cc/hp vs rpm is much more similar to the kx250 than any of the other engines on this list, I'd guess the tbo is closer to 100-200 hours, which is about right for a snowmobile. Of course this is entirely theoretical, and you definitely can do whatever you wish. I'm not even trying to talk you out of it, but go in with your eyes wide open.

    My first fast taxi in my KR2 ended up having to pull up to avoid running off the side of the run way a half hour later after thoroughly enjoying the sports car like flight characteristics and effortless flying I was faced with my first landing with no real data on stall speed in ground effect. It had a stiff landing gear so I bounced . It flew so much like a sport car as compared to a5 ton truck. No crow hops for me . I think a lot of fast taxies end up being the first flights . If I lived out West I would rather had a Kit Fox .
