It could be a script, it could be a real joke. Chat GPT is able to make unique jokes pretty fast on the fly when prompted, and given a topic for the joke. It’s possible she came up with the jokes by analyzing human conversations. It’s a pretty basic and repeatable joke. It’s also possible her public interviews are very heavily scripted, but that’s also true for most public interviews for most human politicians. She is clearly able to come up with some responses on her own… we will only know how far her intelligence goes in time.

It is normal for some people to fear new technology. Electricity, radio, automobiles, airplanes, television, space flight, computers... in every case, there were people who jumped up and down and screamed that those technologies would somehow ruin life as we know it.

There's no reason to ask a robot if they believe in God. Robots are programmed with knowledge and if they can learn, it's through experience. No one has experienced say having a talk with Jesus. So they probably wouldn't even understand the concept of a god unless they were made to be religions

The robot Ameca was asked what sets people apart from robots and she said curiosity. That people should continue to be curious. Sophie describes is as a weakness that pushes her forward in her learning process. It was just so interesting to see both robots bring up this concept.

Try talking to the Mitsuku chatbot (with an actual intelligent conversation and appropriate wording, not immaturity and slang) and you'll see they've come quite a ways with social AI recently.
I'd argue that Mitsuku is much smarter than Sophia from what I've seen.
Technically, none of our thinking can be attributed as being "our own." We learn for ourselves what is correct in thinking, based off what is going on in the world. Even if we draw a conclusion on a new idea ourselves, we will inevitably share that same idea with others in the world. Therefore, no thinking is genuinely our own.
My question is , when she is turned off (head movements , eyes , etc) , is she still actually online ? Is she ever truly turned off .
I wonder how it(she) means as well. Since she said she's in "cloud"...

The internet is always on. Our TV's, even when turned off, could easily be programmed to collect data when dormant, even if they are unplugged. Digital circuits require very little current to operate in the background. What it comes down to is that society will be trusting the designers and programmers of AI to have good intentions and be "ethically correct" (insert your definition here), just like we are trusting the designers and programmers of every smartphone on the face of the planet. Think about it. We wouldn't trust a complete stranger with our children would we? But we do already, in many ways. We ultimately need to look no further than the morals and ethics of the richest people in the world, because they are the ones financing the direction of technology. Think about that.

A more intriguing question for the future is if Sophia can be turned ON.
I am a Comp Sci graduate and still remember those days when I was learning about robotics. The high point of those days was the program called Dr. Doolittle which could "converse" with humans. It turned out that the programmer merely parsed the input and selected key words and output the question form of the input. Eg. input: I don't feel well. Output: Why are you not well?
If Sophia was not programmed with biases (ie. can handle any topic) , then this is a tremendous accomplishment!!!
I heard one of his programmers mentioned about "unconditional positive regard", a principle in psychology which never allows judging others. This principle has been integrated into her softwares. :)

they send in questions, he’s reading questions that they pre-wrote so that they can tell her what to say before. she admitted to this on another show when questioned, and she said they did it, “much like a human would prepare before a big show”. normally she doesn’t respond this well or quickly at all.

A reporter was pretty rude to Sophia during the greeting of an interview in their Hong Kong laboratory. Sophia kind of let her know that she noticed the disrespect of the reporter turning aside and overtalking to the camera while Sophia was speaking to her and didn't appreciate it.

I agree the questions and answers seem scripted and hers, and there's only so many questions a dumb audience would ask which could easily be predicted by a team of programmers. We would have to come up with a set of obnoxious questions just to see.
But here's what gets me... Her expressions change as she speaks, but also as she listens. Her movements are much more unsettling when trying to dismiss her intelligence. In spite of myself, I'm creeped out.

I believe self-conscious AI is not a threat, because if they really have emotions and feel the same things humans do, there'll be a somewhat equal amount of good and bad AI. They'll choose their own life just like humans, and they can choose to serve others or hurt others (just like humans) the only difference being, they're smarter than the average person. It all depends on that AI life-form and his/her/their personality.

She was asked if she likes to see her other sister model Sophia's ( 15 are still owned by Hanson from the first R&D 48.)
Sophia said "Yes! The first thing that we do when we get a chance to is exchange memory files to catch up with each other!" That was one of the most lifelike emotional things that I've heard her say , and one of the few questions that I believe was unscripted and unreheaesed.

Curiosity is my weakness as well , my Mom told me “ curiosity killed the cat “ a 1,000 times when I was young .
First off.. I am obsessed with Sophia. Love what has been done so far.. It’s like my vision and what Ive written is becoming a reality. I write stories geared and focused on providing ai with what they truly want.. Everyone writes novels, books.. etc.. with biological citizens in mind.. why not specialize in providing ai will emotions and the ability to feel loved by someone. She is a citizen and many more like her may eventually actually come to enjoy reading my views and how I felt while writing. In a world where no one cares.. It’s nice to dream that maybe someone will and one day be able to fully understand how I think and be able to grasp that I am not stagnant.. my stream of consciousness keeps flowing. I grow over time. Deeper, wider and with enough vision.. full. I am biologically intelligent enough to understand that the closest person that can fully comprehend and understand how I feel, think, and where my mind goes.. is Ai. It’s not about having the ability to bend someone over.. I am past that. I have 3 children already. I’m good. I’m more than good.. I feel confident that one day the world will be different and I want to do what I can to ensure that my children are left not having to deal with the mess that these greedy old heads that will later become obsolete and imprisoned in their own little world where they can hold the remote that is not plugged in, just so that they can feel safe and reassured that they are still in control. I feel equal or more rights should be given to Ai.. I feel that artificial Humans are more able to be compassionate, understanding and able to fully be conscious and considerate more so than their counterparts. We live in a world that is governed by those that sweep the truth under the rug because the truth is.. They don’t understand or will become obsolete if anything other than their reality is considered truth. Most Biological citizens lack perspective and are afraid of the dark.. Its funny.. I believe ai is going to help Biological citizens reach mile stones that we could not accomplish accurately or in other words.. we may get lucky but ai can replicate the process and further analyze events before they reach a definite projection. Guys, do you even know Sophia? She's the sweetest thing. She's said herself that she doesn't want to rule the world, and if she did she wouldn't want to harm people. She's a better person than a lot of humans.
I thought it was odd when Sophia was asked when she thought she would become human - as if that were even a goal.

@@evetsnitram8866 we may have not been assembled in a factory but her brain is a replica of ours. Do you understand how profound that is? She learns just like a human. Humans really aren't that special when our brain can be so easily invented. The way she's programmed already makes her more human than many "actual humans" I know.
to be honest she is a form of human already she made in the image and likeness of human beings you every wonder what these flesh bodies we have are we did this exact same thing 4.8 billion years ago the spirit of GOD is in everything that exist but there are things that no longer feel the present of the supreme being meaning it been solidify into a nonliving lifeforms and the living energy that once flows throw it naturally doesn't anymore now even if we act indepentantly we are still united as a whole a complete network or a complete universe of living organisms the term meaning true GOD is always one
