Billi is like "damn, inflation is out of control; I had to pay with pets, hug, a paw, cuddles, three happies and two love yous just to get some food water. I almost had to call dad."
You can see Billis' Machiavellian gears beginning to turn after 1:27, when mom says _"Food soon baby"._ Just right after that, keeps thinking about what to do and then Billi goes straight to the "dad" button at 1:54 and it is as if it kept thinking should I?... And then Billi is like, nah, I can soften her up: _"mom, mom, mama, ma, mummy, mamá. Love you, cuddle. Food?"_
It is a masterclass of emotional manipulation haha. I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.
Edit: it is suggestive of a theory of mind in cats, and it is fascinating. The other video with the "did you bite me?, ouch where?, love you" is so compelling. I wish there were a more controlled experiment to confirm theory of mind in cats, since we now have an interface to somewhat communciate with a cat, and Billi seems to be the most reliable one at that.
@@quelopario obviously cats and other animals have minds. Sheesh, why are people still so skeptical over that idea 😪 but aside from that your analysis of billi's thoughts seem pretty spot-on
@@voracion Theory of mind is more than cats having minds. It’s cats understanding that others have different minds than they do, different knowledge and experiences than they do. Like one might have seen where an object was placed and the other did not. It’s understanding that concept. But I think it’s pretty clear they understand this. There just hasn’t been experimental evidence, mostly because cats are not terribly cooperative in an unfamiliar lab with a stranger.
@@bennaustin6632 and there is always the risk of a "Clever Hans" effect if the owner is the one participating in the experiment. It would be interesting if Billi were willing to communicate and interact with the board with strangers.
@@quelopario Haven't you seen the video of Billi using the buttons with a cat sitter? I'd say that qualifies as a stranger. That girl also seemed to have trouble hearing the audio on the buttons, as she would wait for Billi to move and lean over to read the label to see which button she pressed. This made it so that her reactions to Billi's button presses were delayed, which would theoretically make it even more difficult for cat reacting only to feedback from a human.
tbh you have more willpower than i do because if my cat told me she was happy and loved me and wanted to cuddle id have to call in to work for the day because who am i to disturb the mood?
100% my thoughts - like, I'm going nowhere!😊
Ha! That's me too, when my cats lay on me in the bed! Legs all stiff, roasting hot, can't reach the remote, and needing the restroom desperately, but I don't dare move and disturb the precious fluff, curled up into a cute little ball!
Same
For sure! I wouldn't get anything done, I already feel guilty vacuuming 🤣
Got it... Billy doesn't want her to go to work.... boom!
This cat knows how to live:
-Starts the day with drugs
-Then cuddles
-Then food
Yesssss
Catnip isnt drugs for cats it just makes them a bit sleepy and stuff but diffrent cats have diffrent reactions reactions but i dont think this one went hyper
@@50d4c4p dont ruin it mate.
As Yes, the cats love them lives with their drugs.
@@fireofgoldengamer9399it isn’t ruining it, it’s just a fact
This cat is more emotionally intelligent than many humans
I was thinking the same thing , I was like oh shi- ,
they actually understand us. . - just can't talk
@@Friendly_Neighborhood_Qrock Technically, notice she uses short phrases and taught it to understand what they mean (usually practicing this is by saying a word then doing the action or pointing to something/someone over and over from what I have heard)
Boy, isn't she!
Imagine actually believing the cat is communicating with them 😂😂😂
@@BlameNate lmfao then what do u think the animals are doing?
I've noticed that Billi seems to use the words as both a method to communicate a want or desire, or at times just an expression of internal thoughts. In other words, I don't think she was repeatedly pressing Mom because she wanted something; She was just thinking about her mom. She associates the word with Kendra and she was thinking about Kendra, so she repeatedly pressed the button. The way she nearly pressed Dad makes me think she was thinking of Dad first... Because we all know who Billi loves the most, LOL.
It’s true 😅
I get that. I was dog- sitting last week, and every once in a while I’d look up and call her name just to express my happiness she was present.
The Mom button celebrates the Momness of Mom. Being present is the best gift to many animals, including humans. 😁
A lot of these button using critters (by which I mean at least two) are real daddy's girls ( The other one I'm thinking of is Bunny, a Shepherd Doodle I think she is?)
Cats really are not that smart. Pattern recognition in animals with lower cognition appears from long term response actuation cycles, and cats do not have that capability especially with that many variations
@@jcon2060 human-centric ideas of cognition are so ridiculous, and the fact that you used actuation cycles definitely gives away this isn’t your field, since that term is used in soft robotics and not biology.
I love how Billi is so clearly very intelligent, and yet her face constantly looks like there is nothing going on behind those eyes (which is always adorable)
I think that's more just the lack of facial muscles, Us humans are so many complicated expressions that can show a fathomless amount of emotion. One thing we all have however that most animals don't is malice, We have a desire to harm for reasons beyond food and that's alright, But it certainly gives a certain something to our eyes.
@@theeguy9022 I actually can see expressions, they are very subtle. Then again I was a cat owner for 14 years
If my cat had this all I’d hear in the middle of the night is “food food food food”
Mine loves walks on his harness. It would be nonstop “Outside!”
Bill is so proud of how well your trained
She’s definitely bridging me 😹 “happy” = well done!
Pretty sure she trained Mom at tending to her every wish without delay.

I love when you stroke a cat along the back and they kind of flatten themselves into a loaf of bread
Looking back on older videos, it's amazing to see how much giving Billi the gift of language has changed her overall body language. She seems so much more relaxed and pleased that her thoughts are understood.
Makes sense. After all, we humans tend to get a bit "on edge" when *we* aren't understood.
Just goes to show, even language barriers between species *Can* be overcome... with some effort.
@@The_Keeper this is usually why toddlers and such have tantrums: they're upset, but can't properly express it to others yet, so they scream and cry instead. They have to be taught
I work with some adults who can't express themselves through language too, and it definitely causes frustration.
When I try to meow at my cat she gets mad and starts hitting my foot... Not sure what I'm saying that makes her do that
“Silver is for the kettle, and gold for the furnace, but The LORD is the tester of hearts- Bible” your heart is like discovered silver, dirty and not pure, when silver is purified it is melted over and over, to the point that when it’s melted and glows red hot, it is pure enough to see your own reflection in the puddle, so also does the LORD purify your heart, till HE can see HIS own reflection in it, seek the LORD and be reborn, ask The LORD to renew and restore you, repent and ask The LORD for HIS Salvation for those who seek will find and those who knock the door will be open unto them, no man is good, all are in need of salvation, Jesus died so that our sins will be wiped away and so that we could be made new, seek The Kingdom of GOD for if you would be wise you would be wise for yourself, pick up your cross and deny your flesh and follow the path of GOD, for The Kingdom of GOD is at hand, in JESUS MIGHTY NAME Amen and Amen
I feel when she was pressing Mom, Mom, Mom, she was overwhelmed with love for you at that moment, and couldn't articulate it as "love you" until she calmed down a bit.
Quite a list Billi needed before you went to work. She was very thoughtful to press the Dad button quietly so she wouldn't wake him up while he was sleeping, followed by Mom, Mom, Mom, full blast, since Mom was awake.
😂😂😂
@@BilliSpeaks That *does* raise a few interesting questions;
1. When "dad" sleeps, does she just touch the button instead of pressing it, kinda like asking "is dad up yet?"
2. Or is it more or less random if she presses it?
3. Could it be possible that when she touches, but doesn't press a button, that she means it more as a question instead of a statement/order?
Especially number 3 is interesting, because if she "asks" with the buttons too, it could indicate a *Far* more complex use of the buttons than we have previously thought, and therefore a far more complex "verbal" understanding from Billi than we thought.
@@The_Keeper Billi demanding food is subtly but significantly different than Billi postulating whether or not food is on the menu. *hmm?*
OMG, did Billi just do the Stewie Griffin "Mom, mom, mom, mom? Love you!"?! She is too precious for words!
I love when she does that 😭😭🥰
Has she been watching TV with dad again? Lol
@@melt4769 Women like that show too.
@@meganbarber3599 *sigh* it's really sad that this has to be explained, but they clearly did not mean that women do not like or watch Family Guy (I am unclear how or why you came to this conclusion.) Rather they were making a joke that it's Dad's fault that Billi (See: Child) picked up that behavior. Please, do better and be a better person than this.
@@DeanVarney Like they and I said, they implied that only men watch that show. Maybe you could work on not being an ass in your responses? Hard for you, I'm sure.
She asked for a hug? Such a sweet little old lady! Please give her pets, hugs, and smoochies from me. 😻
I noticed that too. Most cats hate that. She was in an especially cuddly mood that morning.
@Kirsten Corby Really? I guess it depends on the breed maybe? I have a maine coon and whenever I'm home from school he's immediately running up to me.
Toddler vibes 😂 “Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom…”
"Mom, mom, mom" don't look at the phone "Mom look Billi"
She really needs that "phone" 📱 button like "no phone" 😁
As demonstrated here, when training your human it's best to use lots of positive reinforcement - Billi's advice to other cats
I learned something from this video - catnip gives Billie the munchies! And while under the "influence", she will repeat "Mom" like a 3 year old tugging on your pant leg.
Thank you for posting this incredibly sweet video!
So basically she smokes one first thing in the morning and her parents buy her the weed.
@@juliz2500 jealous, huh? 🤣

All fun again till you hear "danger" 50 times and the cat looking at an empty corner
oh shi- now that made me curious, what if tho billi got trained for that specific button.
Billi: just thought your morning catnip water could use a little sweetener, Mom
Woweee she was right! 😹
It's like I'm watching a Hallmark movie about Billi 😻. How cute and amazing is it that she's laying down, enjoying pets on her catnip mat, _gets up and walks to her buttons just to say she's happy,_ and then circles back for more??? Yay communication.
But she's just pressing buttons because they get a reaction, doncha know.
It's nice to know that the "Mom, mom, mom" call is shared between humans and cats
I would say even without the buttons, cats still do that call. To their humans or their cat moms.
I find it fascinating that there are so many specific words about physical interaction - pets, cuddle, hug, etc.!
"You will have much better success training your human if you are generous with rewards."
Mum always has the best catnip water mugs 😅
It’s a vice of mine that don’t even try to fight 😹
I think that’s an Awkward Yeti mug?

She’s one of the best I’ve seen. Bunny the poodle is great too. Very existential too
There's definitely quite a bit going on in that fuzzy noggin of hers.
Billi gets so romantic when it gets close to MomByeWork time!
Hell, I do the same thing when it’s almost HusbandByeWork time. Cuddles, kiss, tea, love you. 😢
@@JackieOwl94 Awwww !

Does Billi do house calls when she's having mornings like this? Just watching this cheers my heart. Love to you, Billi and Dad.

Kendra: Okay, Billi we need to leave for the next client's house in 15 minutes.
Billi: "No."
Kendra: I'm sorry to report Billi has canceled your house call request. Unfortunately, refunds are not available and rescheduled appointments are not guaranteed.
@Bananas 🤣🤣🤣 Yep! That's exactly how it would go!!
She goes on repeat ”mom, mom, mom” like a kid wanting eagerly to tell something 😂❤
I feel like that first 'Happy' was Bili being pleased that Mom came so quickly to her summons. Bili's pet human was then rewarded accordingly for having done so well in her training~🤣
Wow, she was in a super affectionate mood 😅
Oh my gosh. This is the sweetest, most loving, most affectionate she's been. I love it!
I love it when she’s in a cuddly, lovey, mood 🥰
I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop - her madjesty was laying it on thick this morning!
Billi was just buttering mom up so she could get her food early lol.
That's a whole week's worth of fan toy for all that affection.
I enjoy these ways too much. Never gets old to me, seeing these creatures communicate, showing more range in intelligence and empathy than we humans have long credited to them.
does billi ever initiated "hug" gesture after or without the hug button? Yknow, the stretchy arms to your legs/climbing to your shoulder for hugs? Or does she just wait to be picked up (as is fitting for her madjesty)?
She just waits to be picked up like the queen she is!
Billi's so chatty today! Love it, blows my mind when she tells her mom she loves her.
It's amazing to see anyone arguing about Billi just pressing random buttons, which she is CLEARLY not. Just look at the buttons she used in this interaction, they all convey loving sweet things about mom & about how Billi is feeling & the buttons she used are not just clustered together. She walks around her buttons looking for exactly what she's trying to convey & picks the correct ones & they're clearly in different sections.
She's looking for exactly what she's trying convey without even looking at the buttons. Awesome
@@JaSmiNEtherlands you know that cat vision doesn't work like humans and also there is such a thing as using something so much you don't need to look at it.
I certainly don't need to look at my keyboard to type.
@@bluester7177 But can you so having only 1 finger which represents cat's paw and not touching your device by anyhow except that finger
@@JaSmiNEtherlands the buttons are a size adequate to her paw, they certainly aren't small, there is spacing between the buttons, so I don't understand your argument at all.
I think your argument stems more from your disdain for cats than anything else. its painfully obvious that her button pressed were NOT random and all had an intended purpose. pressing "dad" right before dad comes home, could not be any more obvious that she clearly understands the meaning of each and every button distinctly.
I think what's going on here is that you dont want to admit for some reason that cats are intelligent enough for this with enough training ( humans have to be "trained" in language as well so your point is moot).
let me guess, you are one of those people that are convinced that's dogs are smart and cats are stupid, and this video clearly contradicts everything you thought you knew about cats and you must put up this cognitive dissonance because your whole worldview just got shaken up.
is that about right?
Awe! I remember when you only had the 5 pieces to talk, Billy has come such a long way, and it feels like he really knows how to use some of the buttons now to near perfection! Such a sweetie! ♥️
Awwwww🥰 Billi is so darn sweet!
You’re so attentive to her! Thank you! I love you three! ❤️😍🙏🤗
So just touching the button to ask about dad? That was creative.
I don’t really know what her light touches on buttons mean, whether it’s a “is this the right button?” or a “whisper” or showing tentative intention or something completely different! I respond in this case, but I don’t always depending on the situation.
We must protect Billi at all costs
Billi likes the occasional wake and bake. Don’t we all, Billi. Don’t we all.
Oh Billi, you’re just precious. I wish I would have known about this form of communication when my kitty was alive. She would have loved the buttons too. (And been equally fond the MAD button.)
If my cat ever looked at me like that and said love you and then suggested that we cuddle, I'd definitely melt into a puddle😻🥰💞 Billi is so sweet
This is THE sweetest video 💜 Billi was in a snuggly mood
She is such a smart little girl and so sweet!
0:48 ok my heart just exploded 🥹
It's amazing how many buttons she has now. I think she could just about rival KoKo, the gorilla, or Alex the parrot for her ability to communicate what she wants. It's beyond impressive.
Aww Billi is so sweet... Loves her cuddles, hugs, pets and mostly her Mum. Our fluffy babies are the best 🥰
She's got you well trained. ❤️
Follow all Billie's demands and you get an I Love You. So adorable.
She's a sweetheart
This has got to be one of my fave billi vids yet btw.
Life's basic necessities: catnip, pets, food, water, cuddles and hugs.
She's a beautiful smart baby girl. I've got a kitty girl too, but she's not as affectionate due to a rough kittenhood. The lady who initially got her, her dad didn't like cats & mistreated my girl, and threatened to kill her if the lady didn't get rid of her. So she's VERY timid around strangers, and it takes a long time for her to get familiarized with others. It took 2 weeks for her to come out of hiding & be social after my sister who had her passed, but she was so happy to get loved on at that point. Now she's gotten used to me & wants loving on her terms. 😁
Aww, poor baby.
Give her a few pet from me, and a belly rub, if she is into that. :)
@@The_Keeper Will do! 😁

Such a cuddly mood, I love it! It was adorable, I would melt.
i feel like cats know when you have to go to work and try their hardest to convince you to stay home with them by cuddling and loving on you
Mine sure as heck do.
One of them starts whining at me when I have to leave (she has always been *Very* vocal).
Try telling them what you're doing, and when you'll be home. After all, cats have an excellent sense of time.
Mine tend to relax, and go nap, when I tell them what I have to do, like shopping, work, or whatever, and when I expect to be back.
