For me the most amazing conversation of 2022 was when Kendra was getting ready for work. Billi: Work? K: Yes, mom is going to go to work. Billi: What, what? K: Mom work with outside animal. Cat, dog, bird, squirrel. Billi: Mad.
I loved that one too. Mom has all the fun outside with the animals! No wonder Billi was mad 😂

You're not going to change how people think by commenting how "wrong" their thinking is. That's just going to annoy them.
Point in fact: you're somewhat in the wrong yourself 😉 I'll explain myself, but I won't expect to change your mind.
Are animals our children? No, obviously not, speaking physically.
But when you have a pet (like for instance an indoor cat, like Billi), you do take on the responsibilities of a parent. You feed them, clean up after them, take care of them when they're sick or hurt, teach them... You love them - in one capacity or other.
For some people that relationship replaces the one they would have with their child. For some, they love the pet in the same way they love their existing children. Some consider their pet a companion or friend... Love, either way.
Many talk to their pets the same way they would a small child (which is sort of fitting, since cat behaviour and toddler behaviour is very similar).
I call my cat my fur-friend or my catbeast. My roomie calls me his "cat-mom". While I personally don't feel like his mom, I understand the implication from my roomie's perspective.
Are humans more important?
That depends entirely on your perspective. For you, humans are obviously more important.
For me? No. But that has equally to do with the fact that I'm anti-social, as the fact that humans are objectively worse for our planet that animals will ever be 😉
I love that Billi refers to coffee as "catnip water" ahaha
I mean, kind of a common sense
She love catnip, and her “mom” loves coffee.
Coffee is liquid, so she prefer that as water. And mom loves it, she think that she loves “catnip”, however, something yummy
And so that is a “yummy liquid that my mom like” so it is a catnip water :)
Yeah, no matter what, the understanding is amazing...unless Kendra called it "catnip water." Still pretty cool, though.

I know a parrot who, upon seeing it snowing outside for the first time, said excitedly "Popcorn!"
Watermelon was "Candy water". This from the same birb that described all fruits and sweet-ish vegetables as as "apple" until they got mad enough that we couldn't figure out they meant carrot. They got really specific after that because humans aren't very clever. It's always awesome seeing the connections they make!
My cat puts his catnip raviolis in his water dish, I always joke he's making catnip tea. Now I'm thinking I should make him some catnip tea instead of him trying to cold-brew it.
@@Jockdog After watching Billi, and seeing how clearly intelligent she is, your cat may actually be trying to spike his water! You should definitely try it, and perhaps even try introducing it as "catnip water." Maybe he'll understand?
"I don't understand" is a button I didn't even know she had! Billi knows so much, she barely uses it.
I was expecting her to say "Hmmm?" and then "I don't understand." clear came out of nowhere.

"Come. Catnip... back" was pretty impressive. She was seriously bothered judging by the whipping of her tail.

@@vicroc4 cat swishing tail is not only because of annoyance but because they are concentrating. When cats play, they also swish their tails. Concentrating to catch their target
@@naylisyazwina6836 It's a slower and less open kind of swish when they're concentrating. Especially when focusing on prey, that are often attuned to motion and would key in on a cat displaying their focus too openly. This was broad and rapid - Billi was distinctly annoyed.

I love Billi’s little face, it’s so blank like she has no idea what is going on but has full recollection of everything
I've been watching Bunny's videos, and I have to say I'm amazed at how much clearer and more thoughtful Billi seems to be. Bunny seems more inquisitive, asking about things like time and using words to complain about birds and talk about poop (a lot). But Billi seems to have an interest in discussing feelings and expressing needs rather than simply maintaining a running account of what's going on.
Yes but this could be a difference in personality and species.
@@grazynawolska8160 It may also be because Billi is older. She seems to have the same interest in schedules and creature comforts that older people have, and a lack of patience for inattentiveness.

It'll be interesting to see the differences when Bunny becomes an old lady dog who has been using buttons all her life!! Also I think it very much has to do with Bunny's breed/ She's a Sheepadoodle whereas cats are... well, cats.
Seems like dogs are more interested in interests like men and cats are more interested in feelings like women. Somehow that doesn't surprise me
I know it wasn't this year but my favorite Billi clip will always be the hate Hamilton one, it is comedy perfection lol.

Laughed for days on that one - especially also that Squirrel herself found it hilarious!
It's so cute how human she is. But it always makes me think that THIS is a common level of cat understanding, they just don't have a way to vocalize it. And it makes me sad for all the abused ones, who probably only get abused because they can't speak out against their abusers.
Right? And Im sure... just like humans... some cats are more skilled (or willing) to communicate, but dont have the tools.
And some arnt as skilled, but have all the same thoughts and feelings.
I hate how ppl underestimate their intelligence and feelings.
Animals are so innocent and precious. Its us humans that need improvement when relating to them!
There were some videos posted to the Internet a decade ago about terrible, abusive cattle slaughter houses in California.
California solved the problem.
By making it illegal to video and post them.
That has nothing to do with cats weirdo. We need meat, most cows are killed instantly these days, Adrenaline sours meat all these myths based off super rare abuse clips from a decade ago are asanine. I get local grass fed beef anyway in guess what, CALIFORNIA.
Not to mention most people off the bay assume their hate is just going to hate them and want nothing to do with them. So they neglect them emotionally and don’t really get to know them and get surprised when company and the outside world makes them nervous. From owning one for 17 years it’s pretty much like raising and enternal toddler. You can take the ignorant approach of punishing temper tantrums and treating your kid like an annoying idiot until they start schools. Or you can put in the time and emotional effort and try to understand things from their point of view. The only downside is I think my cat genuinely thinks I can understand him and while I can get the general meaning it’s not like I’m fluent in cat. So he never. Shuts. Up. He’ll wake me up for a chitchat, he wants to chitchat while he’s eating, he wants to chitchat while I’m eating. Sometimes he even talks through movies and gets jealous if your on the phone and SCREAMS so you talk to him instead. S e v e n t e e n y e a r s o f t h I s
@@ghagzor We do not require the flesh of other individuals to survive or thrive. Stop spreading misinformation, there is no scientific evidence supporting your claim. What we need is nutrients and those are all readily available to you if you know where a food store is located.
I love the way she looks at your face - that's pretty amazing evidence that she really is trying to communicate.

@@BilliSpeaks I'm sure you two humans talk about all kinds of things she doesn't understand and that's fine with her, but I think because you repeated it directly to HER, she thought it was something she was SUPPOSED to understand. It's among my favorites, as it implies that she generally understands most of what you say to her, because when she doesn't, she'll let you know.

I think Billi uses “MAD” a lot because she doesn’t have any other options. I think that to Billi, “MAD” encompasses everything that is not happy. So when she’s unhappy/sad that she’s missing her dad, or she feels sorry or bad for you about something (she bit you, something with your catnip water, etc.), the only way she can tell you she’s feeling something other than happy is to press “MAD”. It would be interesting to explore this nuance in when she’s feeling something other than happy that isn’t “MAD”, and see if she could get it.

My favorite moment was when Billi appeared to ask what a "Ghana" was. If that's what she ment, it's mind-blowing. Also, how do you explain a country to a cat? LOL.

I found a good mousie on sale like Billi has and since my cat seems to like at lot of similar things I got one for her. It’s totally a hit. You’ve inspired me. Billi inspires me to give my very smart kitty a very sweet life. It seems to make her happy knowing we can communicate and she can tell me what she wants a little more clearly. Sometimes you have to wonder if these people that deny Billi is communicating are watching the same videos. Because that was pretty impressive for a critter who supposedly is just doing it for the attention.
The top Billi moment of the year was when she called the friend a Squirrel.
This cat is hilarious. I rarely people ever communicate their wants and wishes so clearly. and obvously she understands everything too. well not all, cars are something she is ignorant about.
My rabbit hates it when I sneeze also. But my favorite Billi clip was when she told you two to settle.

@@mq5276 I believe that the ppl that deny the obvious evidence of Billi (and other animals) showing intelligence, do so because if they were forced admit that animals are just as sensitive and intelligent as humans, they would have to take on the responsiblity for the mistreatment animals have endured on behalf of our ignorance.

Billi is so cute, and she's so smart. Despite knowing how intelligent she is, something about those eyes is 100% derp and it just makes you love her more!
Loved the 2022 compilation. My other personal favorites are Training the Sitter (Friend…Happy), Cuddle Dad (Narration, Jealousy, or Eewww), and Where’s Dad (Dad in Ghana…What?).

There's been some studies that suggest cats have about the same intelligence as a human child. I'd say that's about right - she sounds a lot like my five-year-old! It's absolutely hilarious. XD
My cat always has a crisis when he makes an unintentional mistake. He’s really embarrassed about it lol.
. . . had a rowdy neuter who would grimace and retreat every time he fell down while female cats could see - he only got embarrassed in front of the girls!
It's so funny how their expression looks like they're constantly solving the mental math that is analyzing sentences and remembering the positions and relations of buttons. It must be hard for a cat brain but one can tell they love being able to communicate and enjoy the mental puzzles!
I also have to comment about how fascinatingly entertaining videos like these are. Thank you for showing Billy to the world. I can safely say just one video is enough evidence to disprove certain people that believe animals don't have feelings, cannot feel and don't think.

so utterly *amazing!* you can see she is using it as a useful communication device, and consciously chooses which buttons to press, in which order, to make her thoughts understood...which is why she apologized when she accidentally pressed a button.

I really hope these button studies start a movement towards creating stronger legislation for animal rights. People who share their lives with companion animals know that they communicate and this is just the next level.
I wish you had included the "squirrel" video! That's one of my favorites. But any Billi is good.
Two of my fave are where they come back from playing tennis and Billi asks "Where" have they been also when Billi misses Dad and asks Mom where he is, and then when he returns she wants pets, and don't want to let him go eat the dinner.

It never ceases to amaze me the things that Billi knows and communicates! (I often wonder what's going through my cats minds, or maybe I don't wanna know, lol! ), so this is kind of an example of what they ARE THINKING.

That video when her paw was stuck in the fan toy and dad dragged her. It was hilarious 😂. I think she was annoyed when that happened 🤣. And also when she called your guest "squirrel" 😂🤣
😂 The “I don’t understand” is both *hilarious* and enlightening. Our cats are trying to understand us, whether they are given the tools to communicate like Billie or not. It’s important to treat them fairly and with patience ❤

Billi doesn't have the accent, but she has the Brooklyn attitude. Like when she said "Mad, Mad, Where?" It was just like in Brooklyn when someone says, "Heyyy, where were you? I cwalled and cwalled."

Billi brings me so much joy 🥰 she has so much to say! When I have a little more money I can throw around, I want to get my cat some buttons because I think she would LOVE to be able to talk to me like this! We already communicate pretty well and I know for sure she understands what I say to her, she just needs to be able to talk back!

That she understood you were trying to communicate something to her and wanted you to know she didn't understand, she would have to have an understanding of her separate personhood (or cathood lol) and that you are a separate being with independent thought as she has.
