Great job on this video! I really liked your approach on decision making using a decision matrix. I'm going to use that in my upcoming options on a career change. Can you talk more about how you worked on your issues with accountability? I'd love to hear more about your strategies you used to make yourself more accountable. It has been easy to lose accountability since working from home.

This video was so rooted and realistic. As a creative in his early years, I found that in 2020/2021 so many self help CZcamsrs pushed the narrative to just quit your job without realizing much of their audience aren’t content creators but regular people working normal 9-5s. I really appreciate you mentioning that it took you a long time to get to this decision and that you assessed all of your angles before deciding.
You're very welcome. I'm a "calculated risk" type of person. I don't like to rush into anything. Nothing wrong with taking your time in this life.

I'm at a crossroads now too, having worked with the same company for 10 years. It's fun, rewarding, a great team and more importantly secure (I have a wife and children to support). But over the last two years I've learned that I need to push my limits more if I want to 'succeed'. By succeed I don't just mean monetary value, I mean free time and flexibility on my own journey. I think I'm ready. Nearly ready. 2022 is the year.

I’m 67 now, and I can say that this is an excellent video for young people developing their independent careers. Solid advice here from Matthew. I wish I could have seen this when I was in my 20s. There was no CZcams then, let alone the Internet! And they were much tougher times, especially for creatives, and for women. I’m hoping young people don’t waste the incredible opportunities they have today, and that they can maintain a belief in their own potential to make a difference.

This is really inspiring Mathew. Honestly, after hearing what you said 'Start before you're ready' in your Ted talk, I did apply for my first internship job though I had some worries about my skill. Boom! I got the internship and now I am trying to become senior role. Mathew, you are my one of inspirations and it is really great to see you doing great as a solo.

Been following Futur and your youtube channel since the beginning and I'm happy for you. I'm been graphic designer for 5 years and 2020 did hit me hard. My goal is to go independent and I was offered a job which double my current salary but I turned it down and stay at my current job because i've grown to love the creative freedom that i have and the people here. Because 5 years is not a long time, so I'm not confident enough to going solo. But thank you so much for the matrix, this really help to me to have a better vision for my career path 😊 Best of luck with your future endeavors, hoping to read your book someday...
