    This is so cool I want to find out how to activate the pack with the Spengler wand

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před 2 lety +1

      There might be a way, but it would probably involve soldering into the wand, and maybe using a custom pcb. For mine currently, I have a switch on the side of the pack to turn on the lights, and I am working on mounting speakers and batteries in the pack that is connected to a small amp. I have the output from wand going to that amp, and then to the speakers. I might have a video up of that at some point.

    • @TheRealSeptimusPrime
      @TheRealSeptimusPrime Před 2 lety +1

      GhostLab42 (spongefacemcgee) makes a Spengler link that integrates the light and sound kits he also sells. It’s a bit labor intensive with soldering required but the end product is excellent and worth the work.

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před 2 lety

      @@TheRealSeptimusPrime yeah, I’ve seen that kit. I might get it eventually, though I have already bought an amp and am working on a speaker setup tied into the wand. Video on that might be coming in the future.

    my proton pack is the second updated one and is in the mail, should arrive in a couple of days. I'll definitively modify mine and I'll use you videos as a guideline. I'm glad I finally found a video showing how to hook up my spengler's wand to the pack thanks!
    UPdate sept 3rd:
    the light kit upgrade and the esthetic kit are installed, my v-hook from great scott props and my alice frame are coming soon.
    thanks again for giving me the motivation to go through all this work. I like your vids! if you have any idea on how to make a pke meter or a ghost trap, I'll be happy to watch your vids!

    Thank you so much for the help! I have zero wiring knowledge and my only 3 questions/part I don’t understand is, when you removed the wires from the Spirit wand, does the pack still light up as usual and how do you turn it on, as I thought you did so from the Spirit wand? Also, when you removed the wires from the glue where did you put them and what did you do with them?...again thank you so much, new sub!

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před 2 lety +2

      @Specialk 33, Glad the video helped you! That's awesome. As to your questions: Q1: The lights are different from stock, as I upgraded the light kit. Now when the pack is turned on, a startup light sequence runs, then the cyclotron and power meter just run continuous until I shut it down. Q2: The pack now turns on separate from the wand. It is currently using the stock Spirit battery pack to power the pack and lights. I turn on the pack by turning on the battery pack. This will change soon though as I am upgrading the battery pack to Li, and I am installing a switch in the side of the pack shell. Q3: The wires from the Spirit wand I disconnected from the board and pulled them out, then clipped them off in the handle of the spirit wand. I saved them for another project. At the moment, the Spengler wand is not wired to anything in the pack, it runs on its own. That too will be changing in upcoming upgrades. Hope that answered your questions enough. Happy Busting!

      @@johnny_mo Thanks for the reply! Very much appreciated. I’m just going to try and follow your path on the pack to the best of my ability. I just received the 2021 model of the pack... I will be starting with a similar kit so the pack runs from the spirit battery pack as long I want it on. Can you direct me where you get mods or a decently priced place?/also what would the battery pack mod be called exactly? I just want to get the inside of the pack done bf I do anything else seeing as it’s going to be so tough for me. Better to learn wiring in my 30’s than never 🤣. You the man!!!!

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před 2 lety +1

      What I am working on now, is running the wand sound through the pack via an amp and speakers I am putting in. Eventually I will probably get the Spengler Link kit, or Arduino program. But that will be much later on. I am gonna switch focus to my trap and other gear for a while.

    Nice work! I had bought the spengler wand in hopes to do this with my 80% but decided it looked too out of scale so i opted for the wand light kit from ghostlab. And did all of his electronics. Now im getting ready to do a life size spirit and think the spengler wand is a no brainer for that pack. I may get all the integrated boards too from ghostlab. What pack electronics did you use in this pack?

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! Ghostlab42 light kit, and in the process of putting in his Spengler link and sound board. The speaker he sells with the kit, is surprisingly loud. A major upgrade for sure. Will be doing similar for my full-size down the road.

    Why buy it if u where just going to change all of it ??? should of just 3d printed and saved money

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před rokem

      Good question. But I didn't really change all of it. mostly just cosmetic stuff. For the price, it was a great replica, and has great sounds and features. When I first got it, my small 3d printer would not have been up to it, but I have since gotten a larger 3d printer. Even still, getting this saved me a ton of work with electronics, mechanical connections, and trying to source parts. I love my Spengler wand and I dont regret getting it one bit. Its a crucial part of my gear now.

    how you open the bag side from the spirit Proton pack

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před rokem

      If you are asking about how you open the back of the pack, if you feel around there are five small screws just under the fabric. You can either pull the fabric off completely, or use a razor or exacto knife to cut little slits to allow the screws to come through.

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před 2 lety

      @@spacemonkeymadness I definitely recommend the light kit. By itself, it’s about $40. Together with the cosmetic upgrade, I think it’s around $100. The lights that come with the Spirit pack are junk, and they can’t stay on.

    • @spacemonkeymadness
      @spacemonkeymadness Před 2 lety +1

      @@johnny_mo I’ve seen spongefaces stuff on ebay and etsy. Which route should I go to get a light kit, v hook, and brackets? I really don’t want to throw too much into this in case they decide to release a hasbro pack. I don’t think I’d be good at repainting also. I am not good at handywork at all. I live in a tiny space with nowhere to work with that sort of thing. If I got the missing crank knob, motherboard, tubes, ect, would it NEED to be repainted? Or could I just attach everything thats missing, mount the pack, replace the stickers, and add the wand and have it look somewhat passable? Sorry for the long winded message. I’m on GBfans as well by the way.

    • @johnny_mo
      @johnny_mo  Před 2 lety +1

      @ronnie ramone, The lights and cosmetics I used are from GhostLab42 on eBay. If you check my episodes 2 and 6, I have the links for them in the description. I can try to post it here as well, but it will likely blank it. There are plenty of vendors that make basically the same thing in regard to the lights.
