  • This piece started out while I was improvising on my Piano and follows no real pattern or form. I had a lot of fun writing it and was once again inspired by Carlos Rafael Rivera and even quoted a few notes from the Queens Gambit Theme around the end of the piece :)
I used this piece to get to know the new BBC Library I just purchased so it still may be a little rough around the edges. I put more time into orchestrating and working with the MIDI than I did with the composing process this time. With that in mind, pls don't expect a masterpiece of music right here.
I colored the different sections of the orchestra with distinct colors so you can distinguish them from each other!
    Purpel is the Brasssection
    Violet is the Woodwindsection
    Red is the Stringsection
    Yellow is the Harp
    Green the Piano
And light blue is the Celesta
(I left the Percussion part out)

Enjoyed your music. I also just purchased BBSO pro this year. A fantastic sample library and if you are a logic user, Spitfire has an excellent template for the library that you can download.

Awesome piece, I think it's one of my favourites. It has so much going on and really tells a story. The first part reminds me of a game soundtrack in find way

Amazing...do you start with paper and pencil 1st or do you start right in on computer??

it depends! Sometimes I sit there with a blank piece of paper and my piano( those turn out to be the better pieces :D) And sometimes I just improvise and see where its going. But its always good to skech out you piece on paper. You can work better with your sketch and visualizing helps me to structure the composition better.

Tell me how you do it!! I'm trying to use the East West libraries for a very long time now. But I never can get them to sound nearly as good as your tracks. What IS your secret?
Anyways. like always... Amazing stuff ^^

I know you didn't ask me, but I used to have a similar problem with the EW-libraries, because they are really hard to use. If you are using the Hollywood Orchestra, try to use the Mod-Wheel as much as possible; whenever you're playing Sustain (or Legato) patches. Never just let the library play a long note (especially the Brass), always play with the dynamics. Perhaps that helps? It took me over a year to get a decent sound out of the library, and I'm still not sure how exactly I did it. But I know that once you get the hang of it, EW can sound unbelievably realistic.

@@compasspictures Thanks. I actually was kinda curious. But sadly it won't help much. I already knew that, but I guess I'm just not used to it yet. Because even though, I know in theorie how to use the libraries correctly, I'm not able to do it. sooo... yeah. But I really appreciate that you took the time to answer me.

in this piece I used only a few EastWest Samples but in general I think its important to pay attention to orchestrating! If the voicing sound realistic, the samples have it much easier to make your pieces sound good :)

I can really picture this in the opening credits of a BBC series. Amazing work!!! Is the Brass EW or BBC?

thank you! The Trumpets are EW QLSO Gold but everything else is BBCSO :)
