Apollo 13 Views of the Moon in 4K
Vložit
- čas přidán 23. 02. 2020
- This video uses data gathered from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft to recreate some of the stunning views of the Moon that the Apollo 13 astronauts saw on their perilous journey around the farside in 1970. These visualizations, in 4K resolution, depict many different views of the lunar surface, starting with earthset and sunrise and concluding with the time Apollo 13 reestablished radio contact with Mission Control. Also depicted is the path of the free return trajectory around the Moon, and a continuous view of the Moon throughout that path. All views have been sped up for timing purposes - they are not shown in "real-time."

I can't believe how many people don't understand what the word "Recreate" means.
Most of them do understand the frivolous application of the word, however.
To be fair, "recreate" could mean many things. It could be 100% CGI or it could be some interpolation using original images.
It's really beautiful and Apollo 13 went there, that's good enough for me anyway.
The title is "views of the moon 4k". It's wrong.
Or even read the description notes.
Most of them believe that space travel is impossible, so they grasp every single straw to declare this video to be fake.
"Once Earth was finally back within sight, the astronauts were able to reestablish radio contact with Mission Control." and just to think that, that sight is the furthest distance our species have ever ventured out away from home.
@@MrImabeast916 I don't understand you...
@@MrImabeast916 That makes literally no sense, they didn’t say “furthest distance from any life”, they said “furthest distance our species”, key word “our species”, humans

Nice animation, well done!
think you are right doesn't look real to me either

@@Smokeslingerowner What Genesis?
@@ohfftit’s a recreation of what they saw…

When you play Kerbal Space Program 2
didnt take two literally just kill KSP2?
What are the straight lines around 1.25 ->1.32 bottom right hand quadrant of screen to right @ about 4pm of the large crater in view ? The shape of everything else in the video looks like impact craters and are very round - straight lines look out of place in this environment - recreation is very kool BTW !
This is so awesome! I'm so glad that we finally have something like the lunar reconnaissance Orbiter and the talented people that create videos like this! Can't wait to see the real thing filmed again!
You can’t huh? Well what is this?
There are like 8 of them up there now!
@@jak30341 A recreation. See description
Thanks for sharing that was amazing. Could only imagine what that would be like in person!
Nice graphics. Looks pretty real
underrated comment 😂
It does look real ngl
It is real.

Another outstanding video by the SVS!! I love their lunar videos using the data from LRO. Especially the annual year of the moon in 5 minutes videos!!
When the dust problem is no more.
@@JIMHusky I don't get it. Which dust problem would you be referring to?
@@Ken-bw1ux ups miss click it was for other comment srry about that!

great job. thank you!
Amazing to see from this angle.
Wow, absolutely stunning! Felt like I was a member of Apollo 13 for a few minutes, thank you!
So you felt like you were in water ? ;)
@@iGrindBudz Or in a TV studio...
Great recreation. Such a stark contrast from the side of the moon that we see from Earth. Terrain looks even more inhospitable and rugged.
This is REAL. Not a "creation"
@@DoktorDamage Do you think this is footage from the Apollo 13 mission? Disclaimer :it's not.
@@DoktorDamage it’s a recreation bud
@@DoktorDamage Sure! LOL
Wow that was stunning
Absolutely Fantastic ☺👌
Does anyone knows what is that strange line structure at 1:25 ? (bottom right).
Are there any detail pictures from that region?
👏👏👏 Good CGI
Outstanding!
Thanks LRO Team for your amazing job.
That's amazing and wonderfull
Watched that a few times in a row. Thanks for sharing.
Ty for watching few times in a row
Great video!!
Fantastic!
So Thankful that you were able to share this with everyone!
Is it real 🤔
The amazing sights from a country that was given a mission and succeeded in accomplishing it. The U.S. NEEDS to go back there!
The world needs to go there . The space race is over, today we have to think as a whole
IT'S A FRAUD IDIOTS..
Been there done that. No need to go back there yet. First the mapping needs to be completed
The U. S. needs to move there...
THAT IS AMAZING
Awe inspiring! Is there ar longer version?
However it was filmed or put together, it is a beautiful video.
I haven't seen Moon video such clear really exciting .......
That is so so so cool!!!
Im learning about space. TV attenna you guys. It's lifting my spirits.

Wow, it's beautiful.
To quote Buzz Aldrin "Beautiful, beautiful. Magnificent desolation.”
Fantastic words by Buzz Aldrin ☺👌
He also say to a kid .becausr we never wrnt there on a kids question.
@@willylaan2451 obviously you don't know your science. You do know the Apollo astronauts left 3 laser ranging experiments on the Moon...Apollo 11, 12 & 15 left 3 reflecting mirrors on the Moon. From the USA and Germany facilities they bounce laser beams to those locations and measure how long it takes the light to come back to Earth! what we discovered calculating the mathematics is the Moon is moving away from the Earth 3.8 cm a year. Remember it was a space race between the Americans and Russians to land a man on the Moon....if it was faked the Russians would have had the greatest pleasure letting the world know this did not happen as the Russians was watching the Americans like a hawk. The Americans did beat the Russians...Russia was so embarrassed they never told the russian people until 1979 that the americans landed on the Moon 👌
@@willylaan2451 You should be utterly ashamed of yourself for repeating such obvious FUD. Buzz Aldrin NEVER said "we didn't go to the moon". he said "we didn't go to the moon for one specific reason" and then listed a few reasons we did go. We went. Deal with it.
When the moon hits my eye like a big pizza pie.

Cool effects
What may have caused the canal like features seen to the right of the big crater at 1'23"?
I was wondering about this too!
So which mountain was Mount Marilyn? ;)
Little side note/fun fact: I actually got to meet Jim Lovell, Commander of Apollo 13, about 12-13 years ago when he visited his (now closed) restaurant in Lake Forest, Illinois. He'd always make it a point to meet with every customer whenever he visited the restaurant.
Amazing buetifull knowledge for students Life
Nice CGI !
As opposed to mean CGI?
Flem Tittle u think its real?
@@norby1977 I think it's what the description said it is, so yeah.

Keep posting more videos but closer to the surface of the moon
I love it very, very beautiful indeed
Wow, I never thought I’d get to see the moon like that, amazing.
Aaron Brown that's not the moon, that's what they want you to think the moon is. To see the real moon just step outside your home on a full moon night and look up...that what you will see is the real moon.
🌚🌝
I can see that from my house. Like I was on land. I had a 2x Barlow with a 4mm magnification .
From a 9.25" Schmitt cassegrain Celestron. Amazing seeing the moon's color change on the surface. Incredible thanks for the vid my friend

So it's CGI in 4k .....impressive.

When the Apollo 8 astronauts orbited the moon for man's first trip to the moon, they were so focused on the moon, that when they looked up and saw the earthrise, they were thunderstruck at the magnificent beauty of it all.... I know how they feel, this is magnificent!!!

Good graphics, what engine is this?
Moon- My first love
Mantap slurrr
This is lovely. Although 60fps would have been less jarring I feel!
How many frames per second was this?
they focused so much on the moon that they decided to add stars to the animation. :D
I think this has been sped up much too high. The speed is so high that one can't imagine at all how the astronauts experienced it looking out the window. This high speed leaves no time for the viewer to get a sense of reality of the situation. Making this video twice as long (5 min) would be much better.
Nice work guys.. Almost real 👌🏽
I wish I could live here
É um grande queijo minas!!!
E todos acreditam que são imagens reais...
Damn that's pretty crazy
Probably, this is one of the most beautiful and finest video by NASA 😘🤩
