Constant 2.8 is very unlikely to save much weight. f/2.8 at 150mm is a 53mm aperture - The Tamron will do f/2.0 out to about 40mmm ff/2.2 to 60mm, f/2.8 thereafter. 40 f/2 is a 20mm aperture, 60mm f/2.2 is a 27mm aperture i.e. most of the size is driven by that 150mm f/2.8 end

Old reviews noted the af was crap, it wasn't parfocal at all, had worse coatings and worse sharpness. Maybe the update improved af and parfocal issues. Both lenses aren't parfocal. They use autofocus correction while zooming to mimic parfocal behavior.

They are the same lens from Tamron, plot twist, Tamron is actually owned by Sony since they acquired Minolta back in the day.
Tamron license their designs to a lot of manufacturers like Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus, even Sigma which also license their lenses to other manufacturers, a lot of Sony G master lenses are actually designed by Tamron.
If you look at the element count, its identical to Tamron, there nothing inherently wrong about this, its just how business work, no need to reinvent the wheel. There few cosmetic changes to the Samyang, when I say this its because Samyang manufacturers their version of this lens, the glass, the barrels, everything is made in a Samyang factory.

When zooming it would lose it pretty bad, and on the edges of the frames it had some a issue focusing on faces as well as some odd abberation, also when my A7sIII would lock focus on a face, it would not actually be in focus. For the price of canons RF 28-70 f2 i can literally buy samyang 35-150mm, Sony A7IV and still would be left with a couple of bucks for second body battery.
I am so mad at canon right now.

Bad construction, after a year of use it have a lot of dust inside, not used in risky places, always cleaned and being careful about dust etc... Not happy at all about this, with my tamron 35 150

You do not want to add another 150 gram on top of a lens many already say too heavy. This alone make me to choose Tarmon.

Yooo . Samyang is actually Parfocal. I didnt know. That makes my decision making a lot harder. :( Tamron has so many advantages.
Something to note that you did not cover in the video =
Samyang at the widest end is NOT actually 35 mm. You can even see it in the video. The Tamron shows a Wider FOV at 35mm compared to Samyang.
They do both have the same FOV at 150mm though.
Samyang renders colours a little cooler than the Tamron, which looks slightly warmer straight out of the camera. This is due to the difference in coatings used for each lens.
Tamron is better in Corner sharpness + Flaring aspects. (Samyang flares horribly in backlit shots whereas tamron has better contrast in similar situations)

No, Samyang is "electrically" parfocal. When you zoom in or out, the lens will trigger re-focusing.

Samyang. Parfocal sealed it, everything else is a bonus.

I think it's a little yellow, I have the Samyang 35-150 and it's a great lens for the price, this week I picked up a Tamron 28-75 to test and I saw that it's also a little yellow compared to the Samyang

Not a focal range that interests me but if I had to buy one it would be Tamron. Samyang is still an iffy brand to me.
