Yes and no. The way you get better at something is to practice what you are not good at. When you do something new, you’re, by default, not good at it. This means that simply doing the thing will make you better at it. When you start actually getting good at a specific thing, you need to practice the things you are not good at within the main thing so you can be better at the main thing. How you practice is what determines your skill level. It’s still a very informative video and I understand that a short won’t have the depth needed to fully understand getting better at something so I just wanted to add to it.

Hello Chris, Great and informative video, please I would really appreciate it if you read my comment and reply. I do cooking videos and I would like to find Sony camera lens that is able to take 4k image to a cooking pan from about a meter away to avoid the heat and the splashing oil but at the same time to be able to zoom very close to get a micro image to the ingredients. I would really appreciate your help.

Chris Brockhurst, thanks for this tutorial. My Blackmagic 6K Pro camera is heavy and the RS4 is rated to handle the weight. Question: can the RS4 spin 360 on its axis? In other words, the INCEPTION shot otherwise known as THE MATRIX shot. AWESOME video! 👏 Did you use auto white balance? And are you using a histogram to determine proper exposure?

I wish companies would take the same camera body and simply remove the EVF for their ''compact version'' of a camera (ex: a7r V to a7cr). This way, you retain the better grip, screen, button layouts, and card slots. For me, the EVF is the element that makes the camera a camera look ''pro'' and starts to bring eyes and attention to you in public. However, this might narrow the gap between the two options significantly, potentially affecting sales. Personally, I don't understand the reason for shortening the grip. While it makes the camera more "compact," this is only true without a lens. There are very few lenses shorter than the length of the grip. A great of example of my opinion and desire is the FX3. It's Compact without sacrificing too many features.

What do you mean shutter speed doesn’t matter. If you are going to teach, do it correctly, at 60fps your shutter speed should be at 120.

Great video, thank you very much! I have recently acquired the Sony FE 20-70mm f/4 G lens. However, one thing is bothering me or rather I would like to clarify whether it is a general issue with this lens or whether it is a defect specifically with my lens. The lens makes a noise when focussing (with autofocus). By the way, the volume of the noise varies depending on the aperture setting. At f/4 the noise is very minimal, almost inaudible. From f/4.5, however, it is clearly audible. And the higher the aperture number (for example f/13), the longer it takes to focus and the longer the noise lasts. However, these differences are small. I am not yet familiar with focusing noises from lenses recently released by Sony. For example, the new Sony FE PZ 16-35mm f/4 G and the new Sony FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS II are 100% completely silent. The older Sony FE 18mm f/1.8 G, on the other hand, also makes the noise described above, if I remember correctly. Does your lens also make this noise? Many thanks in advance!

This is great stuff. My gimbal doesn't have a deadband setting, so I shoot at a high framerate and slow it down in post to get slow movement. Of course, whether this is useful depends on the subject...

Struggling which camera to buy, at first I wish it was compact, at second I like to use manual vintage glass so it should have good evf for crucial focusing. - A7CR - main problem is EVF and I feel I will have to add grip in some cases, i.e. for travel I might wish to take something like 28-200. Another problem is flip out screen that makes more attention on street. -A7RV is great it has almost everything I wish from the camera and much more so I feel it just overkill for me and I wish it was a bit more compact and weight a bit less. Rangefinder body also nice to have. So after all I'll be unhappy with either option. I wish to have something in the middle: not as big as A7RV and not that small and crippled as A7CR. And that never gonna happen, the sad truth of business: Sony wish you to buy 2 cameras.

Not all camera are supported. I have a 90D and when I switch to Clean Out the Atomos Ninja V no longer see the correct frame rate coming from the 90D.

Sony = best sensors, but do I ever wish they'd just redesign their cameras from scratch. 58 dials on top. Pleather grips. Horrible LCD screens. Menu fonts that look like something out of 1985. I mean come on. They look like they were made in someone's garage. Take a page out of Leica's or Hasselblad's design and feel, please.

I have the Tamron 35-150mm with the RS4, I'm currently struggling to balance it as I'm getting shake no matter what I try, please please could you share your settings , even though you have the Samyang I think it'll somewhat translate to the Tamron. As you come from the UK, you will probably know it isn't easy or almost impossible to get a decent storage drawer system like the ones you all have in Canada and the US. Kind of limited to Tool chests which are ok but not the solid quality you have out there,. Due to the size of the things the import costs are extra huge :) So my question is; Did you take anything from the UK to Canada with you and if so where did you buy it/what brand? if not, can you suggest a good brand so that I can see if I can get something sent across from Canada. I have done my research so really not being lazy here Chris .. just not as easy as I thought it would be !! thanks

Great job on the video Chris. Thanks for making it. I do love the Smooth/Tight switch on the G-Master, but the real reason I went with the Sony over the Sigma was the little switch the Sigma has instead of the focus ring tightener. That "Zoom Lock " they have isn't a lock at all, but more of a "Zoom Hold". It takes almost no pressure to get the lens to release it, and the fact that they call it a "lock" fills me with a disproportionate rage. If it actually locked onto my desired focal length and didn't allow for movement of the focal ring until manually disengaged, I would have likely bought the Sigma. But the day after I picked up the pre-production version of the Mark 2 Art lens, even while acknowledging that it is still a spectacular lens that is a vastly better buy than anything in its class, I ordered the Sony.

For the price of canons RF 28-70 f2 i can literally buy samyang 35-150mm, Sony A7IV and still would be left with a couple of bucks for second body battery. I am so mad at canon right now.
