This movie is like "Key Largo" only in a rural town. Great film, well acted! Frank Sinatra was great!
Oh, the cars!! This is a good movie. This is 3rd time to watch! They sure had an affinity for Nash Ramblers!
It is amazing how these films bring back memories from a boy's perspective. Now, I think I understand some of the adult atttidudes and knowledge in the 1950s. Fine film.
I've had the privilege of seeing Frank Sinatra live in concert. Scotland in 1990. One of the greatest nights of my life 🙂
i saw frank and sammy davis jr at the greek theater in Los angeles California....great show

I can't imagine anyone who likes noir movies NOT seeing this film free on CZcams over the past 7 years. But for those of you whom this is a new experience, cheers!
Have viewed this film via TCM. Film noir is my FAVORITE genre of films but had no idea was available on CZcams. Glad it is!
I remember seeing this when I was about 12 years old. I had fallen asleep earlier & just woken up after midnight and it was playing on some 'Movies after Midnight' program on channel 4. Back when the only channels were 4,6,8,13 & 59.
I had no idea who any of the actors were, but I remember being completely hypnotized by the performances & storyline.
Thank you so much for posting this!
Just one example of attention to historical detail that's easy to miss. At the seven minute mark there is a tobacco can on the telegraph clicker. The size and shape of a tobacco can made it a perfect resonator to make the clicks easier to hear and was common practice for telegraphers.
One of the best Sinatra movies!!! He was great on movies too!!!
Very cool movie, well directed and acted! Saw it on the tv a few years ago and happy to watch it again!
I have netflix can never find something i like to watch , thank god for these great classics . 😊
Therapy because netflix target audience is daft 18-23 year olds
I recommend Tubi if you want to see some good classics!
Clearer than my dvd, Good movie.
Francis Albert Sinatra was an American singer and actor. He earned critical praise for his performance as a psychopathic killer posing as an FBI agent opposite Sterling Hayden in the film Noir Suddenly (1954). He died on may 14 1998, aged 82 at Los Angeles, California, US. My native place. RIP 🙏
Good information Karina!!
@@helenpoornima5126 Thank you 😊🕸
@@helenpoornima5126 It's a copy and paste job
His acting abilities were impeccable in his portrayal of the, ex-convict /rehabilitating dope addict / novice musician , in , The Man with the Golden Arm. In my opinion , one of the greatest, classic black & white film noir of all time. The Man with the Golden Arm , with a exceptional cast , realistic script and gritty cinematography outshines this film ,but Sinatra's excellent acting , the portrayal of a deranged assassin, (watch his eyes and smirk used intermittently throughout the film) is superb from start to finish.
I was never a huge fan of Sinatra's vocals even though I enjoy and appreciate the genre, but his acting abilities are so underrated it's absolutely mind boggling. I believe if he had turned his efforts towards the big screen rather than the microphone he'd have been one of Hollywoods all time big stars. Guy was certainly born with plenty of talent.
jeez, guys. you’re writing like he’s an historical figure. he was Frank. he was himself. he was an icon. what a singer. i saw him live on TV. some people in your life don’t go away - they live forever within you, within everyone who saw him.
he’s not an encyclopedia entry!! he’s Frank!!!
Excellent old flick. Thanks for sharing.
Its a great movie 🧞♂️
It's a pity the TV repair man had to die, there was no need for that; he was the real hero who saved the day.
He was one of the heroes, Sinatra's character was still alive and probably would've killed them all.
It's just as well...there would be no future for TV repairmen.
It proves that TV is not healthy😅
Really enjoyed this one, Sinatra delivered a powerhouse of a performance in my humble opinion....⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great singer, not an actor...;-))).
@@cooltrades7469 Yes he was. "From Here To Eternity", "The Man With The Golden Arm" and "The Manchurian Candidate" are stone-cold classics.
Agreed Completely Menacing Performance from Frank.
@@cooltrades7469 You're wrong, he was a great actor too.Oscars don't mean nothing to you?
Cliff-hanger,nail biter- excellent film. Great historical street scenes of an US town of mid century America.
This is better than Expandables movies...thanks for uploading
"Guns aren't necessarily bad; it depends on who uses them." Amen to that.
Frankie, baby! I love his movies. I just re-watched Guys and Dolls a few weeks ago.
This one for me.
Is guys and dolls good?
I never knew he was an actor too. So glad to have this gem come across my recommended page! Love it already. He’s such a talent.
Really?? Wow, check out the original Ocean’s 11 then!! (1960). He plays Danny Ocean. Also, From Here to Eternity (1953) for which he won an Academy Award. And The Man with the Golden Arm (1955) for which he was nominated…Sinatra was a great actor in his day, particularly in the ‘50s.
he won an oscar for From Here To Eternity, and starred in many more.
He won an Oscar, and you didn't know???
You're probably very young.
You need to watch Some Came Running, The Man With the Golden Arm, The Joker is Wild, and From Here to Eternity...now! Great actor as well as epic singer.
Don't forget to watch the original of The Manchurian Candidate, Sinatra was great in that, too, and it's an excellent film. Angela Lansbury also stars in it.
Very enjoyable indeed!! Thanks for posting it!
Excellent movie, thank you!
WHAT A WONDERFUL ERA....WHAT A WONDERFUL MOVIE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE GREEK SUBTITLES. 🇺🇸🇬🇷👏🥂
Awesome movie. Thank you for upload all this hidden hollywood gems
Hard to believe 9 years later this would play out in real life with JFK! Starting out as friends, Sinatra and JFK ended up enemies. 😳😳😳
By design!
I own this movie. I think it's great. Luv all the actors.
Great 🎥movie!! Enjoyed every moment of it. 🙂 thanks for your kind of content. Looking forward to more of your channel.
After his love affair, marriage and divorce from Ava Gardner, no one wanted to hire Sinatra since he trashed a fine family to walk away and pursue his passion. This role came along and those that mattered saw a great acting job for a heel. The following year he took the role of Maggio in the classic From Here to Eternity and won an Oscar for best supporting actor. It was uphill to the Rat Pack from there!
Great job on the subtitles! The English subtitles are even translated it to simple English
Ol blue eyes is back !!!
Thank you for posting this great movie.
Video con sottotili gradito
Mille grazie👏👏👏👏👏
Ótimo Filme recomendo. obrigado pela postagem.
Good flick. Lots of character actors in it.
I can’t get enough of the G43 rifle in this movie ! …. A uncredited star for sure !
I suppose not the best movie I have seen but I really enjoyed watching Frank Sinatra in it.
A lot of people don't know that Sterling Hayden was a ww2 hero working behind the German lines . He had quite an exciting life .
I will have to search online and find out more. I just love a real American patriot and hero!
Sterling Hayden actually looks the hero!
My dad didn't think he was a good actor when he watched this movie but thought Sinatra was good.
@@lrn_news9171 Yeah, I felt Hayden was somewhat wooden in this film, much better performance from him in *The Killing* made by Kubrick 2 years after this.
@@straightfacts5352 ~ 🎉🎉 Hayden embodied the "wooden" and specialized in it: his role in that 1956 Kubrick film "The Killing" had 99% the same delivery. From 😂 Sheriff to mastermind of a racetrack heist.😅
This movie should be registered under "Fantasy"...
Excellent. Sinatra, voice in a million, great actor and married to Ava Gardner-some guys have all the luck! Gardner's quip about Sinatra's anatomy is also worth looking up.
sinatras performance is over the top. a tour de force
thanks for the enjoyable watch. Just one puzzling thing, was that when Sinatra shot Hayden and the secret service man, why no one heard the shots? Think that might have alerted the many agents crawling around, only 200 yards away? Or was I missing something?
We hear the train passing, after the shoot-out, and Sinatra says "train muffled it" ~ so my presumption is "John Barron" also presumed the train was loud enough, early enough. 😊
I knew I'd seen this before. But it was quite some time ago. Really great movie. And similar to one of Bogie's I believe...
*rushes to the Googlemobile
1955 The Desperate Hours. Huh. Bogart's was after this one. Look at me! Learning stuff! :D
Obrigada por ter legendas em português....
Nice performance of the players with Frank Sinatra, good!
This is actually a very good movie, it will be hard to riff it.
I will have to try harder then. 😁
I like this movie!
@@helenpoornima5126 …yes it is surprisingly good
Muy buen "film noir", de los buenos de verdad. Y muchas gracias por doblarlo al castellano.
This is frank sinatra's ying to his manchurian candidate's yang,or a combination of the manchurian candidate and the deperate hours...they're all great movies
You can really see that what motivates frank sinatras Charakter in this is that he dosent want be a poece of trash that is just forgotten one day
he seeks recognition he dosent want to be just another face in the crowd
A film about a would-be assassin of the President of the USA who underwent psychotherapy with his hostages while preparing for the kill. Silliness at its best.
Great movie!
UMA GRANDE HISTORIA COM ESTE ATOR LENDARIO FILME BEM LEGAL
Muito bom! Recomendo!
Thank you.
Love this movie 😈
Me too
Good film with Sterling Hayden, James Gleason and Frank Sinatra as a traitor with short man syndrome and possibly Sinatra’s best performance and certainly much improved from his miscast priest in 1948. The plot is incidental as this film is all about the actors and you can’t say that about many modern films to which the acting is often incidental to the FX.
To my reading, it was a combination of being abandoned by his parents as a child, a humble existence of limited opportunities, teenage resentment of this, and the madness of war on a fragile adult mind and ego.
@electron wave Good points you have obviously put more thought into it than I did
Rumour has it that Sinatra banned this movie from circulation after the assassination of his friend JFK due to the similarities
Understandable, and further up the road was another one that gave Frankie the shakes: "The Manchurian Candidate" in 1962 (another 'assassination' movie).
@@None-zc5vg forgot about that one, that's the theory on the RFK assassination
That was a good movie!
A film of its time, but still very relevant in some ways.. The mother didn't want her son to have a gun and then Todd the sheriff buys it for him saying the boy wants to be a peacemaker...same contradictions being used now....asides from some.dialogue they couldn't use now, its a good story....
Very crisp sharp picture.....on some old movies: some tend to be blurred.
loved it
I have this on DVD and there are some lines and a few scenes that where cut from the DVD release. I wonder why? I'm surprised
Not a fan of Frank Sinatra' but seen this about 12 months ago' surprised' thought he was excellent in the role' terrific old movie ' thanks 🤩
Watch From Here to Eternity,The Man with the Golden Arm, Pal Joey,The Manchurian Candidate,Some Came Running, and On The Town and you’ll be a fan in no time.
@@randywhite3947 will do' thanks.
He had some good parts in the '50s, starting with "From Here To Eternity" in 1953. It's a pity he was such a louse in real life.
The Manchurian Candidate and Guys and Dolls are good films with FS. Btw I’m not an old blue eyes fan either, my dad was though
How can anyone not be a fan of
Danke !
Thanks!
Welcome!
Muito bom filme!!
45:20 😂😂 they patted Judd down for weapons, but didn't notice his fat screwdriver in his back pocket? 😅😂❤
So thick he has to risk getting shot, standing partway to pull it out.
Then, in just a minute or less, Ellen (Nancy Gate) is "embraced" by Frank ~ and her excitement cannot be hidden. ❤❤
Todd's monotone voice drives me up the wall!...
BUT, the movie is GREAT!!!
🙏🏽💝💜💖🇨🇺🇯🇲🇺🇲 GREETNS WORLD, Suddenly was FABULOUS! Ddnt know of a remake in 2013, gna watch 2 c if it HOLDS UP 2 DE ORIGINAL!!
Rumors swirled around this flick and it's eerie similarity to the jfk assassination.
Great movie :)
Great old movie
2 people who were in this film years later would be in a classic movie called Godfather. The police officer and Frank Sinatra. If anyone remembers the officer was shot in the forehead Michael dropped the gun left the country and there was a war between the families
A great film-noir. FS was in menacing form as John Baron, the would-be assassin. He withdrew the film from circulation for years, when he learned Lee Harvey Oswald watched the
film before he murdered John F. Kennedy. "The Manchurian Candidate" is even better, and far darker.
Quentin Tarantino stole the line "Let's go to work" for his iconic "Reservoir Dogs", decades later.
Thanks for posting it.
Oswald never fired a shot that day.
@@justthink5854 Yes he did. He also killed a police officer called JD Tippit on that appalling day.
@@robjones2408 please. and what shells were found at the Tippit killing? automatics. Lee was arrested with what? Beuller???
@@justthink5854 Your paranoid fantasies have been debunked years ago. I suggest you read Robert Dallek's definitive 800-page biography on "Kennedy: An Unfinished Life".
Oswald murdered Kennedy. End of sermon.
Released just after "On The Waterfront" in 1954: note the use of "somebody" at 1.10, maybe an echo of Brando's "...I could've been SOMEBODY, instead of a bum" line. Discuss.
The "good old days" ~ when the local Sheriff arranged a rental limo for a President arriving by "Special" train.
I wonder if Lee Harvey Oswald watched this movie! He killed President Kennedy about 6 years after this movie came out and Frank Sinatra was Kennedy's friend.
Otimo filme!👍
WOW!!
If all the world was still seeing violence at this low level and people's morals at such a high level .... Then what a better world we would be living in today....but I'm not for any violence low or high.
Wouldn't have a clue what kids play on these games, all I know is that it is teaching them to be numb concerning violence.
This was the film Lee Harvey Oswald watched before going on his mission to kill Frank Sinatra's friend, President John F. Kennedy
STERLYNG HAYDEN, a pretty good actor, FRANK SINATRA, I remember him from OCEAN'S ELEVEN with DEAN MARTIN, PETER LAWFOR, JOEY BISHOP and SAMMY DAVIES, JR..Also FRANK SINATRA STARRED with DEAN MARTIN in a western along with VICTOR BUONO.
Film 50s clasico noir drama accion suspenso con Frank Sinatra recomendable🔫🎥🎬📽🎞👍
Good movie.
Pretty good movie.
Can you please tell me what blu ray is this version thank you 🙏🏼

Thanks for sharing these old movies, it's always a pleasure to see such classic movies. CCC 😊👍🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎
Sterling was about 2 seconds away from being cut in half by that train 😂
In the old days, it was common practice for pedestrians to cut right in front of a train, which is why the locos did not travel as speed on approach to stations.
i wonder if he won a silver star
It would seem so, before being booted out of the service.
Meu Ofício Matar é um ótimo policial noir. Frank Sinatra quis proibir esse filme, mas não conseguiu! Ele quis proibir a exibição desse filme, pois, segundo ele, serviu de inspiração para o assassinato do presidente Kennedy!
Paul frees is this movie to He does really good job here. And surprisingly this is the only movie you see that with this wacky, cartoon voice guy gets shot.
I own this AMAZING movie 🎥💥⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💥
La habia visto hace mucho
I STARTED WATCHING IN COLORIZED BUT THE B\W IS BETTER. WEIRD HOW
THAT WORKS, ISN'T IT
IMO, black and white, when done for noir films, is better able to enter the subconscious. Color requires more brain activity.
