Woman Accused of Faking Daughter’s Cancer to Collect Money

- An Ohio woman was arrested after cops say she admitted to faking her daughter's illnesses to collect money. Police say the woman, Pamela Reed, lied to everyone claiming her daughter was blind in her right eye and suffered from leukemia and seizures. Reed even created a Facebook page, asking for donations with a tribute to her daughter’s medical triumphs and setbacks. The case reminds many of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s story. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.
How the hell do trained medical professionals not investigate any further into claims like these? If someone says their kid has cancer, surely they’d confirm it with tests and stuff. Whenever a case like this happens, i blame doctors just as much as the parent.
You can just say you already had the test results done with another doctor and hand them fake results.

@@nate6045most doctors consult with the doctors that first treated their patients before though and they want to perform their own tests to see if there were any changes or other complications happening. That would be one awful doctor if they didn’t have a thorough examination and checked previous records. They usually have records all online now as well.
People ask why Gypsy Rose is doing what she is doing.. *THIS IS WHY!* So it doesn't happen to another child. It might as well have been thanks to her that this nurse had the self-awareness to pick up on this. When it happened to Gypsy all the medical establishment failed her because they didn't think someone could be so twisted.

Yes and no. the "medical establishment" has been well aware of the female disease: "Munchausen Syndrome by proxy" for a long time. Staff needs to actually run test and Observe the child and they'd see there was no illness. Staff needs to be held accountable also.
She had nothing to do with this. Gypsy has a long, long way to go before she can effectively advocate.

Doctoring records. You get a blood panel done and just photoshop the numbers, go to another doctor, and hand them that record.
@@nate6045but doctors constantly run labs when you have cancer - they just don’t run one set of labs and then give you treatments. Once you start treatments they’re also constantly rubbings labs
@@nate6045when I got a new primary care physician they ran their own labs to confirm my Lupus. Even though it was well documented in my health records, they weren’t the ones that diagnosed it so they did new tests to confirm it
I'm thinking she didn't tell the doctors she had cancer, she told the public she had cancer. The biological mom said that woman was making her baby sick so im assuming she was doing things to make the baby sick and stay in the hospital so she can get more convincing pictures for her scam.
What kind of dodgy hospitals do you have where you live? Where i work, we would never accept any paper work from a patient, without doing our own workup on them, as well as contacting the previous Doctor where these so called records came from.@@nate6045

This is a lot to take in. She's doing this to her best friend's child, who entrusted her with said child when she was at a low point in her life. This is just awful all around and I hope Shadow gets her daughter back.
Its horrifying to think when a mother does the right thing by getting help and getting clean her child still suffered. Its just aweful. I hope her daughter can forget this trauma

That nurse is an ANGEL!! Thank goodness she noticed something was off, she saved that poor girl from MANY more years of abuse, just as Gypsy had experienced.

Sooooooo a school nurse figured this out BUT NOT all the doctors and nurses at the hospitals she took her too?? I was a nurse for a long time and we didn't just take someone's word when they came I asking for certain treatments, procedures, or drugs. Wth?!

As a Leukemia survivor myself, stories like these make me sick! People like this one taking advantage of someone so gullible and having them do their dirty work! I especially feel bad considering the real mom was at a low point in her life and finally got back on her feet only to hear that her own child was being taken advantage of by her own best friend who she trusted the care of her child for while she recovered! Gypsy Rose is literally trying to save kids like these, I’m sure she was just as upset after hearing this. I hope that woman rots in prison and the real mom gets the girl back soon!

I hope the biological mother will get her daughter back. She's the real mother. I hope this sweet beautiful baby girl will continue on the road of recovery and be with her real mom.
But also there was a case where the mother accused was innocent and she ended up comitting suicide two months after they separated her from her ill daughter. Because they treated her like a criminal. Do not trust the police or authorities blindly.

How the hell can you sleep doing something like that? Cancer is a brutal unforgiving nightmare. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The audacity to do this and to a kid? I just can't believe how someone could do this

Unfortunately people who have munchausen by proxy have had it done to them as a child by their parent. For example DeeDee (Gypsy rose) mother had the same thing happen to her as a child so what she do she did the same thing to Gypsy. It's not just for money, it is also for attention. It's seriously a mental illness. I don't get how someone can do it to their kids either.
I am having a hard time comprehending how all these doctors perform procedures on this baby had her hooked up to all kinds of tubes and no one checked to see if the child really had cancer that’s mind-boggling to me all the doctors should be charged with a crime not just this woman but the doctors as well. I hope she gets her child back Lord help her.

She faked cancer to the public but I believe there was an actual illness occurring, just maybe not as serious as she made it seem. The biological mom said that woman was making her baby sick so im assuming the doctors were trying to figure out what was wrong with the baby since she kept having to go back to the hospital. Who knows what that lady was doing to make the baby sick but I believe she used all those visits just to get more pictures to scam the public to claim she had cancer.

This makes me sick. right now my granddaughter 22 yrs old that has been fighting cancer is losing her battle got out of hospital today to go home and be on hospice. How can she use her child like this. I'm sick to my stomach. I hope she gets in trouble. And it'll be pretty sad when her daughter grows up and sees this. This disease is awful I wouldn't wish it on anyone . Shame on her

This is happening a lot more often these days. I think the health care system needs to be more vigilant.
She is a really strong human/mother, for signing herself up for rehab, it takes a lot of courage! This way, she wanted to become better both for herself and for her daughter. Especially if you think that she gave custody to someone who (at the time, trusted) would take care of the girl, when she was away. I'm really happy that she is in a better place now, does something she loves as a job and that she will try to gain custody of her daughter. She seems like a good human❤😊
I'm so confused by Gypsy Rose was even sentenced to jail if all she did was protect herself in self defense.

It’s bad enough that people fake cancer on themselves but using children for this. This is a trend that doesn’t seem to stop. My heart goes to the victims of this fraud.

What a monster! How could a best friend do something like that 😞 I can't believe what little girl had to go through and how medical professions didn't check into these claims. I am actually sick with rare life - threatening disease and it's hard to get and find answers.
