- On The Scene: The China Coast Guard (CCG) on Wednesday issued warnings to Philippine vessels claiming they illegally entered Chinese waters in the South China Sea. Filipino civilians embarked on a supply mission near the Scarborough Shoal (Panatag Shoal) Wednesday morning to distribute fuel and food to fishers and assert Philippine rights in the waterway.

In the Philippine Territorial Sea Baseline Act of 1961, the 118° east longitude line is the western boundary of the Philippine territory, and Huangyan Island is beyond this. On February 5, 1990, the Philippine Ambassador to Germany, Bianfenido, explicitly stated in his letter to German radio enthusiast Dieter that "according to the Philippine Ministry of Map and Resource Information, Huangyan Island is not within Philippine territorial sovereignty.". In the documents issued by the Philippine Department of National Maps and Resource Information on October 18, 1994, and the Philippine Amateur Radio Association to the American Amateur Radio Association on November 18, 1994, it was confirmed that "the territorial boundaries and sovereignty of the Philippines are defined by Article 3 of the Paris Treaty of December 10, 1898, and Huangyan Island is located outside the Philippine territorial boundaries.". The Philippines has never made a territorial claim to Huangyan Island before 1992.

The UN Convention on the Law of the Sea recognizes Philippines EEZ determination that all the islands within the Philippine EEZ are not belong to china' is belong to neighboring territory. Later that year, the Philippine-American War broke out as the Republic declared war on the United States. By 1902, when the U.S. Congress passed legislation creating the Philippine Assembly, hundreds of thousands of Filipinos had been killed or died of famine or disease as a result of the brutal war.

However, this sea area does not conform to its stipulated norms, and it was indicated and signed in advance at the time of signing.
I’ve been trying to understand their motivations and geopolitics these past months and I’m 100% sure this idea is meant to get the Philippines or other southeast asian countries a hostage to it in the future to strengthen and expand their claim further down indonesia (which they’ve tried before until indonesian navy wasn’t having any of it so they reduced their claim). Once that china gets them, they will use it as a treat in the region to altogether stop any claim on the sea as any confrontation will risk damaging it and also destroying its entire ecosystem and poisoning everyone’s water in the region.

PH government is not strict in defending its EEZ and does not employ water cannons or arrest chinese individual who are within the 200nm economic zone. China, which has used water cannon and build artificial island inside PH EEZ will begin arresting Filipinos this coming June.
