thanks for the "time warp" trip through my old stomping grounds! I grew up there :) The "snake pit" lol was not part of Florida Wonderland or Johnny's Tropical Wonderland. It was called Living Wonders and was run by a really nice man named Art Bass owned & ran it. There WERE monkeys after the park closed down. And some years before, their elephant escaped and was hit by a pickup truck. It was a great place to visit and many movie stars came there. A lot of them were cowboy stars that visited the Wild West area of the park :) Thanks for this walk down memory lane :)
The almost forgotten Florida Wonderland park was located in Titusville, Florida which at the time was known as Indian River City. It opened way back in 1959 by Mr and Mrs H.C. Kirk. The park featured an old west and Indian village area, electric boat rides, train ride, and many types of animals. Monkey Island was a favorite from visitors from all over. It closed in 1973
When the 70's hit things changed. First, the name of the park was now Tropical Wonderland. Johnny Weissmuller, of Tarzan fame, was now throwing his name in support. He even had the occasional appearance for signing autograph's and pictures. This brought new life into the park.
At this time the park also had amusement rides, food, more gift shops, and other fun things to do. Things were looking up, well until Johnny pulled his support because of animal treatment issues. No one knows if this was true or not, or if Johnny was just not happy, but there are the old articles with so many animal escapes over the years it was open, and even when it closed down.
All that remains after all these years are old canals, the snake building, and a few patches of concrete and tile floors
I was there when Johnny Weissmueller was signing autographs and still have it, a postcard of Tarzan...the place was awesome but I was only 8 or 9 years old. They had a couple of ostriches' running around nipping at people...
I hung with you guys till the end.. I have lived in Titusville my whole life and this is the closest I have ever come to Tropical Wonderland and I only live 3 miles away.. Thanks, guys for sharing this. :)
I stayed with you until the end, I love these abandoned vlogs and, like you, I get excited over the smallest of finds which date back to the abandonment in question.
This was a great one. I'm looking up old photos now. Thanks adam
I watch all your videos from start to finish and you always leave me wanting more.
I just love how excited you get over a tree, Adam! Excellent!
Safe travels, Adam
Amazing!...that Huge tree did look like it belonged in a Tarzan movie, what a place!...Loved watching JW as Tarzan when i was young, Magic!
I'm still watching your Vlog.I Always enjoy your videos,Adam.
Had tons of fun on this trip! Thanks for letting me join in Adam!
looking forward to 200 K subs , well done Adam
I can only imagine the boat ride being like the land of the lost movie. Adam could be the skipper.
I always watch the whole blogs, they are fun to watch, as a south Floridian, I find all your central Florida stuff fun to watch
sometimes I get a migraine when there is too much glare.but I try to watch every vlog to the very end.Huggs,silky.

Another great vlog. Knocked it out of the park again.
Great vlog..
Hung in till the end ! Ha !! Good one !
I watched it too the end as always great vlog Hunni xx
Miss these!😔
Very interesting video that you have here. I did find the park map of the park.
Thanks for doing these blogs. I find them all very entertaining.
I don't know if it's just my imagination or whether part of the tree face is artificial but I see a Gorilla's face at 22:45. It would be a great launching point for a tropical boat ride.
This is an old video, but I watched the whole thing with interest. I wonder if any of this is still there?
Yes I love that area we go out to merit island wildlife refuge every time we come to Orlando to Disney so we love exploring between Titusville and cocoa beach
3 years and 28 minutes later I’m still watching 😜🤪
Watched full Vlog 👏🍂🍁
Looks like you might have been close to Monkey Island as,according to the map (which would have been surrounded by water) was close to the boat ride. Fun vlog!!
Yah, Adam, if you look on Google the boat ride as you went in went way more to the left and makes a big loop.
did you know that the tarzan movies themselves were filmed in florida (silver springs, to be exact)? the tree house in the films stood tall in the woods in silver springs theme park since the films were finished. that is, it did until 2004, when the hurricanes came and knocked it down. no one has dared to go near it ever since.
It's interesting to me that when Disneyland came into Anaheim, Knott's Berry Farm was able to adjust and is still in business, whereas this endeavor was not able to do that when Disneyworld came in.
Was still watching after 28 minutes.
Cool I watched the whole vlog
Still Watching :)
Johnny promoted the pre-existing park for a couple of years (71-73?) till he claimed the animals were abused. He pulled out and it fell into disrepair.
Thank you sir for turning me onto your dad's channel "JWWOnTheMove" I like it too. Be well and stay safe!

yes. still watching at 28 min. lol
I'm looking on google earth any you can actually see the water path including thru the woods as well as the remains of 3 buildings in the trailer park
I had no idea there was such thing as this place. I should get out more often
I actually enjoyed this
Thomas Mckendry that was out of the idea.
I grew up in Titusville in the 80s, and we used to see monkeys in the woods at the end of our road.
Be careful and safe
Went there on field trips when in elementary shcool.
watched all the way through lots of commenting about pits and canals
"Festooned"
still watching at 28 mins
I watch all of your videos to the very end, Adam.
Maine!
All of this is fascinating - you are chronicling the slow but inevitable decline of America. Your video of the pipe forge was priceless.
still here at 28 min.lol
I only know Titusville as space city.
Watched it all. & i have to say, kinda disappointed on how some theme parks go to ruins like that, quite sad actually. :/
I see the building with the big sign out front that says know the score. The building made me think of the old Stuckey's not the newer one's. Its time to stroll down to Dixie Crossroads Restaurant for some Rockshrimp. That's the only reason to go to Christmas. Feed the fish and have some Fritters. Well maybe Heavenly BBQ.
Not Christmas, Tropical Wonderland and Dixie Crossroads is in Titusville...
slickvic40 Hello: I guess I don't know the difference between Christmas and Titusville. I live in Virginia. I have drove from Dunnellon to Crossroads to eat. I really like Ocala to Crystal River area of Florida. I messed up by not buying a place when the prices were rock bottom. Merry Christmas to you.
What the crap was that moving white dot as you filmed the bird
I think Johnny W only endorsed it with his name. He actually removed his name because of animal abuse allegations. Then it closed shortly after that in the early 70's.
Adam u r a very interesting person u go to cool places and have cool friends! Hey carpetbagger!
Here from Justin Scarreds page.
That snake hut reminds me of a cobra spreading his hood.
i was here for all 32 min
u need to go to rainbow springs
Was there when I was twelve a while ago .there was a man there at the time who looked just like an older Johnny Weissmuller to this day we think it was him even though we asked him and he said he wasn't,t.
28 minutes in!
Pictures I found on the web: spacecoastdaily.com/2013/09/throwback-thursday-tropical-wonderland-park-in-titusville/
Team 28 minutes
I still like Lex Barker as the best Tarzan
I have watched till 32:01
just imagine Disney bulldozed over like that....EEEK!!
32min? your arm must be exhausted!
