Could the new ET7 be NIO's most significant car? We sent Elliot along to an exclusive preview to see if their first super luxury electric saloon car lives up to the hype.
Yes it's another big car from NIO, but it looks the business with a smooth, sleek and simple design. With an option for a whopping 150kWh battery that gives a range of over 600 miles, this Chinese sedan is poised to take on rivals including the Tesla Model S. Like the ES 8, the ET7 can use NIO's innovative battery swap system enabling a 0-100% charge in 3 minutes.
It might not be coming until early 2022, but legacy automakers should start worrying now as this elegant and powerful car could prove incredibly popular.

No post about the Ford F-150 BEV Lighting, Today? Disappointing for a channel that has such a significant USA audience.
love the look of the car et7
W O W !
I mean it looks fantastic now...but will the production vehicle look the same? Will the interior be so "pure"?
Also, it's feckin huuuge! Maybe a bit too big? Difficult to tell with nothing to compare it to. OK for Yankland though.
Also also, HOW MUCH?
Given the lithium shortages we know are coming very shortly, cars like this and the Lucid, EQS, Tesla S/X are actually damaging to the cause as they use up resource that could have gone into 2 or even 3 more economical EVs. Hopefully governments realise this and legislate against them ASAP.
Fully charged is the only western you tube channel that goes to such lengths to bring us the ev future from Asia. Great job again mates 🤓✌
Check out wheelsboy, you won't be disappointed.
On it, cheers Lei !

I mean most of the ev innovation is happening in Tesla and China. All the other manufacturers are scrambling to catch up.
So if you're gonna be a ev channel you can't not cover China
Its hard to appreciate the speed of the advances Chinese vehicle manufacturers have made, this is beautiful.

Just bought some Nio stock! This looks really promising!
How much you win in NIO stocks.

Nio stock looks good to buy now. What you think?
You're getting better and better. For the circumstances, that is a job well done. Almost superb. And I want you to know that it's appreciated.
It will give Tesla and some legacy carmakers worry about what next they release to compete in the same market. Well done NIO
Car designer speak gets me every time you have more chance understanding a Glaswegian at 11pm on a Friday night at the pub. That said the car looks gorgeous however he describes it hes done an amazing job.
I’m could be that Glaswegian see you at 11pm. No honestly born and bread in the city and I don’t understand some 😁 Advice to everyone if your next to a Weegie at 11 pm in a strange place just smile and nod a lot maybe throw in a few “absolutely” here and there👍
I'm led to believe it's very pure
Agreed though it's great looking
Elliott sums the designers mumbo jumbo rambling into one word 'elegant' which i thought was 🤣🤣🤣
Don't you understand how important the emotional impact of the purity of the sharknose aesthetic is? 🤪🤣
WTF is 1/6th of a decimal point!
Some interesting facts about bettery swapping that I thought I might share.
While Nio knows how to do marketing, they do have the money and the tech to back up the infrastructure needed for battery swapping. Another thing that probably won't happen in western countries is that, the Chinese government has actually stepped in and asked Nio to lead the way at setting a national standard for battery swapping, regardless of brand. Some notable companies that are part of the team set the standard include Beijing Automotive Group, Greatwall Motors and Geely, all big brands in China. So i'd say it's more than a gimmick, given that the Chinese government has an interest in their tech.
Also, a side note, subsidies on electric cars in China have a cutoff price of 300k rmb. If the price of the car is above that, it will not be subsidised. However, the government does subsidise electric cars over that price that are battery-swappable. This makes Nio the sole exception.
And disclaimer not a fanboy of Nio. Tesla Model 3 owner here.
I do like the ET7, but that giant hump and the two little stubby things on the roof kinda kills it for me.
neat remark, thanks!
@@bryanhe8908 I prefer BYD Han and Roewe Marvel R (aka MG5)
I'm Chinese and never heard about what you said "Chinese government has asked Nio to lead the way at setting a national standard for battery swapping". Instead, Chinese government just setted up a regulation by themselves in order to avoid some potential security risks. That's it.
@@user-qb8qb9yu9q if you are working in automobile industry you'd know what he said is true
Excellent content from Elliott yet again. NIO need to get their range to Europe! This car is beautiful.
NIO is now in Norway! 🇳🇴
I agree - they would sell lots of them!!

Another great video from Elliot, and a nice looking EV. I'm also very impressed that Elliot managed to nod at the right points when talking to the designer chap, who appeared to be using a language related to, but not actually, English. :-)
I think the language is called "Aspirational BS" :-)
@@peterlittlejohn8933 well he was wearing the correct uniform. Clutching plastic water bottle - check. tshirt with jacket - check.
Hahaha I thought the same, though in fairness he obviously knows his shit if he's on the design team for this bad boy.
It's a pretty good looking car. But, I hate listening to some design engineer trying to 'sell' his vision with a bunch of memorized catch phrases. Either a customer will like or not and all of his 'explaining' is just so much hot air. Don't get me wrong, all manufacturers do that, not just NIO.
He should work in an art gallery lol.
It's just a car for goodness sake, if you need to sell it like that it's too expensive lol.
These reviews from Asia are just improving exponentially, wonderful work Fully Charged.
Didn’t understand the designer waffle really but what an exciting vehicle with an outstanding range, well impressed
Most of it's bullshit. But it boils down to making a simple design, that's still good looking, but still hits current looks that are fashionable right now.
It's art darling
@@Hebdomad7 Familiar but not too familiar. Though I applaud the engineers for this execution. Often, design gets lost on the way to manufacturing.
Not quite sure about having that much battery inside car (my max would be below 100kwh) but it's no denying that this car is superb all-around ...
"Relentless pursuit" - something nobody except design and marketing people say

Looks very simple and clean! Great to be able to see what is happening in china.
The editing in this episode is so bizarre. One moment you're outside talking about sensors, then inside, then outside again talking about sensors, then inside yet again to continue on the interior. LOL

Amazing! Thanks! I wish I could get one in Mexico soon but I like NIO organic and growth strategy too.
this is a car i would own in Europe, i do trips from UK to Greece almost every summer and range will be enough for the long stretches of driving, as I usually drive 3-4 hours and then take an hour (or more) break. I wonder what will be the range when doing 200-250 in Germany.
Even if you are out of range you can just swap the battery in 5 minutes!
@@luihinwai1
I guess spare batteries just randomly happen to present themselves along your route no matter where you may end up, huh?
Or you tow it on a trailer behind the car?
Then when you arrive at your final destination you have TWO batteries that need to be completely charged. YAY!
The 600 mile range is great, and is where EVs need to be in order to become a single, all-purpose family vehicle.

Nice car and all that, but those designers can talk some grade A guff 🤣
Sounds like Colin Phipps is regurgitating the flowery marketing copy from a brochure instead of just being simple and human and talking about the car.
Being the design director, he probably wrote the flowery marketing copy.
Not the type of guy you’d like to get stuck talking to at a party 😉

Congratulations to Elliott for not laughing at the posturing BS Designer.
NIO does incredible work!👍
Congratulations!!!
Thanks for this. There wasn't much detail but as an appetiser for a full review later. Looking forward to it.
Another great looking car that will be out next year... but where will this be available is my question.
Could you perhaps do a review of a collection of cars that you can confirm are going to be made available and sold in the UK soon, so people like me who are currently looking, may be able to include other less well known makes such as BYD, that you may suggest we should also possibly consider, before buying the more popular brands.

They will come to Norway next year. And to UK later on. U can always export the car from Norway to UK (:

Nice video Elliott.
I'd like to see a production model driven long term, to see how reliable these cars are.
You became more professional than before man, keep it up
Been a NIO Investor since the low 3s, can’t wait till this car releases to see the public’s reaction to it.
Waiting for nio stock to go to 5 and I load up. :)
I'm guessing the 'x-bar' is the key feature? Along with the 'double-bash'..... Gotta love those marketing people
You shouldn't love them, you should "celebrate" them for their wonderful insight into the meaningless and perfectly imagined gobbledygook that they all spout.
Question, can I get one in North America or are we able to order one and have it delivered to North America?
Hope the ES8 will update with the latest tech and design as ET7, that would be my DREAM car
This is another good advantage of battery swapping, it can fit bigger battery capacity and don't need to worry about charging times.
Man that is clean!
Oh god! Just when I’d decided on the Ioniq 5 you throw this curve ball out there. Stunning car!
Perfect car. Correct your statement. The model with Lower battery range will be launched by the end of this year
How do button door handles work for getting out after a crash?
I'm going to assume that the battery is highly unlikely to stop working in a crash. And there are other places to exist, like windows and the roof.
I have the same concern with this obsession of everything electric.. I loved that car, up until he said button door release.. give me a mechanical release every time.. I’d even accept it more if they told me about the emergency door release.
I know there has to be a mechanical backup, like the Teslers do.. if there’s a failure for whatever reason, you can’t assume windows will still work to get out. And just to add, it’s not an EV problem.. it’s the same with any car with the same tech.
It's got ejector seat's 🤔 new feature 👍
A mechanical one won't work either if the cars crumpled as they will become jammed, so you'd be looking at a crash where you only lose electrical power. Given most cars have central locking/unlocking this really isn't much different. Just hope the battery pack is water tight.
It's yet another solution to a problem that no-one had.
Loving the competition that's arriving in EV's. Tesla's are great, but I'm finding more and more things about my car that are minor annoyances (unrefined shock dampening, noise dampening and no speed camera reports, because no Android Auto or Carplay). Here's hoping that Nio takes the best of EV's and the best of traditional luxury cars.
I too wish I could have Apple carplay built into my Model 3, but that's probably never gonna happen haha
@@bryanhe8908 I don't get it. Musk is a big software guy. But apparently only when it's "his" software. Just give drivers more options. I love the Tesla infotainment, but I love Android Auto + Waze even more!

Great episode please keep these coming. Agree with others though about the designer waffle and strange editing. "I have so many things to say about the interior I've had to write them all down... it is made of rattan" [cuts to outside] 😉
Not sure what that Nio designer was talking about but it is a nice looking car indeed. Thanks for the Video.
Looks splendid.
Sorry to be practical..but I've often wondered about those oh so trendy motorised pop out door handles. What happens when the car is covered in frozen ice?
Did they think about that?
Is it out with a bucket of warm water when my existing car just needs a strong pull.
What of there's an electrical fire and you are trapped inside and the button to open the door doesn't work?
@@TerrySirius it will be a pure celebration of fire elements.
In general, you can preheat the car from apps, so it might not be a problem with ice on electric cars. Someone here is bound to have experience with that.

Battery swapping uses precious resources and will become irrelevant as charge times reduce.

All I can say is WOW! 👏 Beautiful. If it is as functional, efficient, and durable as it looks then this is a very fine automobile.
I will always get a NIO but where on earth do you pre order? ET6 smaller and still good.
No door handles? what happens if the car loses power and you can't get out like in a fire or in flood water especially if you have a baby in the back?
There will be a emergency handle implemented I assume?
Does the UK stand a chance with NIO ET17 with other electric salons? What is surprising here with Brexit was used to bring Shanghai companies in the north and we restart manufacturing electric cars, then it could be a benefit, however i don't see that happening, and we are likely going to import these cars either way.
